Subject: [LAM] CPU window -- need help with what it displays
Message #137978
I'm not very clear on how to read the CPU window. I have a dual proc G4. The CPU window is broken into 2 main sections (Audio vs. Disk I/)), and the Audio meter is in turn broken into two separate meters, each representing one of the 2 processors in my Mac (as I've been told). I'm just not clear which processor performs which task. I've maxed out the right side, and therefore get ASIO performance failure messages at certain points in my current song. I've tried freezing tracks that send to reverbs via sends, but it doesn't seem to help terribly much. What are all the things that max out that right meter? Do crossfades contribute to the load at all? Also, how do I freeze tracks and their respective bus send destinations (e.g., reverbs)? I notice that when I freeze tracks that send to these buses, it does not seem to make much of a difference in the CPU meter, so I figure this is not freezing the reverb itself. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding this. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, David
