Dunno - Perhaps it's to stop vibrational crosstalk creating false triggers when playing Battery off proper drum pads? Some units like Akai's MPD16 have lots of pads packed into a small area, so crosstriggering can be an issue. (obviously not an issue when playing drums off a keyboard!) [Erk] (BTW, for people currently thinking of buying NI Battery, some stores are probably still doing a nice package deal of Battery with an Akai MPD16 controller)
