Subject: NEWBIE: Midi setup and configuration
Message #12691
I am relatively familiar with the audio portion of Logic. I am now trying to figure out the midi portion. PII350, 128MB Memory, LAWP 4.1.1,Windows 98 . So I just use a JV1010 with the bundled SoundDiver, attached (Midi IN/OUT) on the PC Flyer Port A. A Roland DR-660 drum machine on Port B (OUT only attached) My problem set is: 1) Soundiver does not see the JV-1010 (cmae with a JV-1010 only copy of SoundDiver). at all. I can play a midi song in Logic, watch the "blinking lights" on the transmit LED's, on the PC MidiFlyer. I can plug in a headphone or route through my mixer and hear the sounds. DO I need a new Midi interface other than the PC MidiFlyer? Is there some other way to set this up? 2) When I do play a song the DR-660 seems to take 2-3m bars to "sync up" and it plays some odd preprogrammed drum pattern every time I hit the "play button" in logic. What gives? 3) How do I configure Logic and SoundDriver to "talk" to these devices and not get stuck playing with the interface on the JV-1010 or the DR-6060? I realize that the SoundDiver which came with the JV-1010 will probably only see that device - but it doesn't even though it seems to sync up with Logic. Am I missing something obvious here - must be> Please help. Regards, Shawn Malaney
