An inexpensive, high-quality method for capture is to use a DV media
converter, such as a Canopus ADVC-100, which runs around $300.
S-Video and composite in/out, with conversion to/from DV via
FireWire. Doesn't include any capture software, but if you have a Mac
which came with iMovie, that should do fine. Handles NTSC and PAL
source, given the appropriate input/output (doesn't convert).
You may want to export the DV-format material in QuickTime Player or
Cleaner to something a bit less CPU-intensive for playback within
Logic, perhaps Sorenson 3 @ 320x240.
