What about IMovie?? it's without any cost and if you use it in combination with quicktime pro (you have to pay for it) it works great. The only problem is , I think that importing movies with S-video will result in lower resolutions, and when you will export it back to a videotape the quality is gone. That's the reason why I changed to a video camera from sony with firewire in and output. It works great with I movie , and myself I use it in combination with Avid Videoshop but I think it's too expensive for your budget... p.s. wait till version 6 from quicktime is on the market to pay for the pro version , otherwise you have to pay 2 times .
