Personally I don't think it matters. My guess is that they just did not want to develop for Intel at all and are willing to lose those customers, who, in any case will be reluctant to migrate to PPC machines. Someone sarcastically suggested that apple send them machines for free along with the crossgrade.... actually I think this is not a bad idea.
