This is a reply to #110098.

I think it has not looked good for Emagic for the past year - too much delay time between the big announcements for LC, L5 various plugs - and their arrival - all this time that nothing is shipping means no cash coming in. On top of that - aside from a couple of people on this list - virtually none of the many Logic users I know personally have invested in LC. I am just guessing - but I think this product, which surely cost some significant development $$ - has just not taken off as hoped for in terms of actual sales. That would be another cash crunch. I also know a number of Logic users who are still sitting at 4.x because their systems are older (still running serial interfaces - no usb). The new dongle in L5 is a barrier - that and the fact that the main array of new features centre around LC - which, for whatever reason, does not interest them at this time. Translation - not as many $$ in upgrades as expected. So perhaps Emagic really needed help just to stay alive - Apple saw an opportunity to bring in another premium multimedia app into the fold. et voila.
