It's hard to know what happened here, but it's probably something
like this
E-Magic start to do really well with version 5. You could see it
overtaking Cubase in popularity. E-Magic struggle to keep up
production. This explains a lot about the last few months. Cash flow
may have been a problem - it's hard to go from small to huge - most
companies fall at this stage.
Apple make a bid for E-Magic. Not sure how the company are set up,
share-wise, but it could have been a hostile takeover of just a 'too
good to miss' offer. Apple see their small music market share held by
integrating Logic, the most popular Mac based sequencer.
Makes perfect market sense for Apple, none for E-Magic. But E-Magic
do not , in reality, exist any more as a seperate company.
I could be totally wrong of course!
