Message #107875
This is a reply to #107845.
From: "gregdeblieck" <iamthelogicboy@...> >> Does Logic have any viable alternative to the rather handy "take" >> function of Protools, so that you can select the takes you've >> recorded one by one, rather than have them stack up on the arrange >> page? This is one area where ProTools is streets ahead, and where Logic really falls down as a "multi-track recorder). Track management in Logic if you're recording any more than one track is frustratingly poor, mainly because you can only ever add one audio file to the Arrange window at a time. (If someone would like to correct me here I would be very happy.) I've just recorded some band tracks at A.N.Other studio and brought home audio files of 11 takes of three songs, each with 13 drum tracks, 2 guitar tracks and 2 bass tracks. Loading one take into Logic is painful enough, one audio file at a time making sure they all start at the same point. Loading five or six takes so I can compare them is a time-consuming nightmare. In the same vein, if you're loop recording more than one track then the "Create new tracks while loop recording" function doesn't work and all the takes are stacked on top of each other. Sure you can then use the "Create new tracks for overlapped objects" command, but then you end up with all the tracks arranged by instrument rather than by take.
