Mind you, in the Internet age you can have it both ways: release early, release often (as the saying goes). 5.1 might be more stable on my machine than it is on yours, so why not let me find out for myself? Of course this would create a support nightmare for Emagic, when everybody calls in at once to complain "The latest version is crashing all the time - it didn't do that in 5.0". So I can understand why they're holding back. I think Emagic could have avoided these issues if it had not bundled major new features with 5.1 (such as multiple undo), and only included support for Logic Control. I think they also made things worse when they went on to advertise the new features prominently on their web site using cheeky, self-congratulating words: "In addition to the support for the controller hardware itself, version 5.1 features a remarkably convenient multiple undo and redo with history." Yes, very remarkable and convenient. If you can get it. I think Emagic was really desperately trying to prove to the world that multiple undos are not vapourware. In the process, they antagonized some existing users, including early adopters of the latest version of their flagship software product. Personally I would have done things differently, but what do I know? Marketing is a tough business. As for the next release, I'm happy to wait until it's ready, but no longer. I certainly don't want to wait for a CD to arrive in the mail. I'm assuming that there will be a download. Michael -- Michael Graham magog@...
