Hi,
I wonder if is possible to sync PT 6.2 sofware with Logic Pro 6.4.1 software
in OSX?
I wanna use midi and Audio Instr. in Logic and AUDIO in PT.
Best
Peter
I'm not sure if, as in OS9, you could use something as IAC bus to sync.
I would try the following : 1 Disable the audio in LOGIC (Audio Hardware
pref)
2 Launch Logic Then ProTools
3 Sync both Softwares to external Sync
4 Put SMPTE into Midi Hardware.
The other way to try is to tell Logic to output MTC thru a MIDI Port and to
set ProTools
to be sync to that port?!? dont know?
Keep me posted.

Hi,
I posted before about our DV syn problem. Problem still hasn't gone, on
request of our distributor I've described the problem again in English and
they are going to contact Emagic again about it. In case anyone has a clue I
thought I'd be a good idea to post this issue here also. If anyone
experiences the same problems or (better) has found a solution please let me
know. Here it goes:
(to emagic tech support)
Our setup consists of a Powermac G4/933 with 1 Gig RAM, a Pro Tools HD-2 set
and Logic Pro
We¹ve been struggling with the following problem for a while now:
When using DV over Firewire as the output option for video playback in
Logic, the user-adjustable playback delay compensation does not work
properly. Our JVC HR-DVS1 DV recorder/player has a delay of about 4 frames.
To adjust for this, we set the playback delay compensation for external
video to 4 frames (-16 quarterframes). Usually, nothing happens and the
playback delay stays the same. If we enter a positive value (say 4) the
playback delay increases (to about 8 frames in this example) so that seems
to work. That also pointed us to the fact that we have to use a negative
setting to compensate, whereas in Pro Tools 6.1 you have to use a positive
setting to get a correction back in time. This works fine in Pro Tools so
the problem seems to be Logic-specific.
We experimented with Quicktime DV movies with and without a timecode track
and with or without sound. That did not make a difference. We use 25 fps
movies.
With contigous sync enabled, the problem gets worse the playback delay
goes all over the place. The movie even plays back faster (about 10%). So we
always disable contigous sync (it does turn itself on every now and then
though, another strange bug?)
When in Cylce Mode, video sync also gets worse. The first cycle it¹s
usually
4 frames behind, the next it might be half a second off. And then the next
one something else...
All of these problems exist only with external video playback; onscreen
video works OK though we haven¹t checked on-screen Cycle Mode video
playback.
To make it all a bit more complicated, last week the main problem seemed to
have disappeared the external Video To Song Adjust offset of 4 in
Logic
Platinum 6.3.3 worked. Today in Logic Pro 6.4.1 the problem was back again.
So we switched back to 6.3.3 but no luck here, problem was still
there.
This problem is forcing us to do our mixes in Pro Tools. We¹d love to
get
back to using Logic for everything we need - but now that we¹re working
in
Pro Tools we discover some nice things that we can¹t do in Logic such
as
using RTAS plugins, reading out TDM plugin delay and using things like
Altiverb in surround... But I¹m dwelling off-topic here, I¹ll save
the
Logic-TDM-improvement wishlist for later.
Please fix the DV playback issue!
Thanks a lot,
Ivo Witteveen

In OS10.3.2 (and OS10.3.3 now) Apple reintroduced the IAC bus, just go into
your Audio MIDI Setup and you'll see it, you need to doubleclick on it to
enable IAC ports but its very simple to do in fact.
Cheers, Kevin
