Subject: [L-TDM] What the ???
Message #25700
Just switched to Logic 8 recently, doing first big project in it today. Every time I move/cut/edit a region (audio or MIDI) my core audio engine reloads all its plugins. I only notice it with Kontakt and Vienna though as it actually happens very fast. Running: Dual 2.7 G5 Logic 8.02 2408 mk iii Vienna Ensemble 3 server (using separate PC) PT HD2 7.4.1 Kontakt 2 Any ideas? I'm running a couple demo Vienna instruments that will quickly lose their status (you only get a certain number of starts) if this keeps up. I've restarted and the same thing. It started happening as soon as I started recording audio on DAE tracks. thanks for any insight. ------------------------------------

Ok, so by removing some duplicate objects in the arrange it stopped doing this weird stuff (I'm not using the new takes feature yet, so I duplicate the object for a new take). BUT NOW....to top it all off I closed the project, moved on to something else and then came back to it and its corrupt! the audio files are in there but NO tracks. I get an error message saying "project correction taking place" or something like that when I open it. and ALL the backups are blitz too. I have an older version of the project that seems to be opening when I resaved as a different name, but what the hell happened and does anyone know how I can fix it? I trashed prefs, rebooted, etc...haven't tried reinstalling logic yet...I lost about 5 hours of work... back to 7 for me. -j --- In logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com, "yudson" <motu@...> wrote: > > Just switched to Logic 8 recently, doing first big project in it today. > > Every time I move/cut/edit a region (audio or MIDI) my core audio engine reloads all its > plugins. > So after some research... It appears this is a tragic bug happening to a number of people, several posts just like mine on the users groups. This is how I got back another 4 hours from my lost 5: opened the corrupt project it says "minor correction to project data taking place", "project may be corrupt!" I hit ok through those windows. NO tracks. and I don't mean no regions, I mean no TRACKS. I hit undo a couple of times whoa, tracks are back! but only audio tracks, all midi is gone. I was able to pack the MIDI in a folder from my earlier saved session that was not corrupt and copy it to this new session. replayed one or two missing parts and all was good saved as a new project Closed and reopened to test MIDI tracks gone again!! replayed the tracks again, and this time made audio splits to finish mix in protools. ughh. So take this as a warning folks, it looks as if some have lost weeks of work with this bug by not making careful backups of projects. I imagine the core audio reload after making edits, etc is related somehow but I have no idea. my rig: logic 8.02 PT 7.4.1 HD2 2408 mkiii (running core audio + DAE) Dual 2.7 G5 4 gigs RAM > BUT NOW....to top it all off I closed the project, moved on to > something else and then > came back to it and its corrupt! the audio files are in there but > NO tracks. Subject: Using HD192 in Native set up
Message #25705
We've been having problem after problem running our setup of Logic 8/G5 PPC/HD192 in a TDM system, and have been recommended to move away from TDM to a Native set up using an Apogee interface. Doing some research around the net, someone has suggested using the HD192 as a generic interface running in DTDM mode - can someone explain to me how this would work and how to set it up? Would we run all our audio on Coreaudio channels and route them through the ESB bridge to output 1-2 of the HD192? Would it be possible to record in DAE and then mix Natively? We've used our current TDM set up for so long that we need a bit of a refresher in terms of how Core Audio/DTDM work before we start trying to make the switch from TDM. Thanks Jack

Jack, I run my Logic rig with my 96i/o as a generic interface. You need the Digi Core Audio driver, and then you run Logic on Core Audio, not DTDM. I use the stock plugs, and any of my TDM plugs that have AU versions included. (Sony, Waves, etc.) It works great. WAY more stable than when I used to try and run ESB and all that. Obviously, when you're running the Digi Core Audio driver, you can't run ProTools at the same time. The biggest hassle I've found is that you have to quit and restart the program for each new session. Just closing and opening a new file causes the audio engine to freak out. -brian . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
