sorry for the confusion... also, I've not worked with the "DIGI"
chassis. only the Magma, of which I've had excellent results with.
I stopped using the DTDM bridge when I moved to versions 7.2.x.
Mostly because I feel like it's been flakey all along. I can't keep
restarting every time the EBS farts out. IMHO You'd have better luck
running Logic with the core driver and coming out of the mac optical
into your Digi I/O.
I wasn't aware any version of 7.1 of PT ran with 7.2.x of Logic. In
regards to the ESB and EXS24 not being supported when using the
Chassis? That doesn't really make any sense to me. Sometimes digi's
way of saying "not supported" simply means they did not test it to
begin with, not that it doesn't work. I'd be tempted to try it and see.

I've just added one to my setup and am in the trenches:
G5Quad PPC / OS10.4.6 / Logic 7.2.3 / PT 7.1cs9 / HDExp Ch housing
HD3Accel w/1 old process card / one 192 / two 192Dgtl / Rosetta800 on
the 192/ one Adat Brg24 on 1st 192D.
No ESB or TDM/EXS24 enabled. I run RME Fireface 800 into 192 via opti.
It's not 100% yet. The main problem is Logic not retaining DAE prefs:
it ALWAYS comes back to this setting- PT HD Type:192 Tracks (6 DSPs)
Way more chips than I want to use for track count, most of my old
sessions will not even open with this 6 chip setting.
So, I set it to my usual 64 Tracks (2 DSPs) but it won't stick. Always
comes back 192 tracks 6 chips on relaunch.
(I also always first set my DAE prefs via PT Hardware Setup, then
mimic them when I setup Logic. In this case, that does not matter..WTF
Regarding which PT version to use..I tried PT 7.2.1, but it did not
allow me to record (crashed repeatedly) yesterday, so back to PT 7.1cs9.
When I get this working, I can already see the advantage of having the
ExpCh..adding the old process card was one..not having to trade in my
digi pcix cards at ream job prices was another..
Another note..I did not install the DigiCoreDriver..the first time
around I did and some mystery app kept grabbing it and the digi
hardware, not letting TDM to enable. I never tracked this problem down
and just opted to lose the driver.
keep ya posted

that's interesting. My experience is L7.2.3 works fine with DAE 7.1cs4
and Up (not counting the track count pref. anomaly). I'm using DAE
7.1cs9 now.
DAE 7.2 created many problems including auto-input bug.

Thanks everyone!!
So i must stay with DAE 7.1csx and Logic 7.2.3...is that right?
I really need a stable system and all i had with DTDM was headache...
I would apreciate any other help!
Thanks again
Victor
I've had my share of the "random playback on track 1 bug", but
today I experienced a new
one (to me):
Whenever I try to record, my DAE tracks just stops playing back. Randomly a
few keeps
running and sometimes all of them dissapear. All DTDM tracks and all Midi
still there. The
only remedy was to quit and reboot, but after 30 minutes the problem
reappear. That´s how
my day continued..around 5 quit's and reboots.
Is this something you all are experiencing? Any suggestions to solve things?
TIA,
Erik

Hi Victor
With L7.2.3 I didn't have luck with DAE7.2, but I did with DAE 7.1cs9.
Others seem to have had the opposite experience. If you try both,
remember to install the appropriate plug in updates accordingly.

Hi,
In Logic 7.2.3 I am using DAE 7.1cs9. No matter what I set the "PT HD
Type" setting to, it ALWAYS comes back set at 192 Tracks (6 DSPs) when
I re-launch.
I don't want to use 6 DSPs. I only need 64 Tracks (2 DSPs).
This occurs using the DAE 7.2.1 engine as well.
If anyone has any insight into this, it would be appreciated.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Logic & PT a few times now..same problem.
This is a G5Quad ppc, so maybe that's the issue. Anyone using this
combination of software/hardware on a G5Dual
Thanks,
Mark
G5Quad PPC, OS 10.4.6, 4.5Gram, L7.2.3, PT 7.1cs9, Digi HD ExpChassis
with HD3Accel + process card
Sometimes... randomly... it can help to start up the PT software and
configure the DSP settings there. Then when you go back to Logic,
it's possible the new settings will hold.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
Yeah, I've done that. Logic 7.2.3 ignores it. I did just get it to
stick at "96 Tracks (2DSPs)"...my desired setting is 64 tracks,
but
I'll work with that. That seems to be the only reall issue with this
setup..other than that, it's working well.

When you went to Logic 7.2. Did you set the Record to auto input?
Could this be why Logic was crashing on you?

After you set the prefs in Logic. Do you quit and reopen logic
immediately? Di the prefs stick? Is it possible that you set the
prefs, then at some point logic is crashing and that's causing it to
ignore your changes? Just a thought.

Hi Jon-
Confirming my RSVP. Thanks-Joel Mofsenson
Yes, amomg other things..it was very unstable even before I set auto
input..thought it might have been a bad install, so I
uninstalled/reinstalled a few times, same problems..7.1cs9 doesn't do
this..maybe the quad is an issue??

A couple of times I thought that might be the case..but now it opens
and closes properly, just won't retain 64 tracks..I did get it to
stick at 96 tracks 2DSPs..weird..

The quad might be an issue. I haven't tried running a chassis on a
quad yet. I have a close set up to yours. HD2, 192, Rosetta 200.
Expansion Chassis (magma) But I had originally thought only PT PT
7.2 and Logic 7.2 went together. For me it's been working fine on
both the Powerbook G4, and the Dual 2.7, just with the glitch of the
auto input always being enabled.
Best of luck. Let us know if you find the silver bullet.

Yes, tossed prefs and repaired every step of the way..even zapped
pram..this DAE pref thing is a Logic bug I think..I submitted on
apple. At leat I got it down to using only 2 dsps and my previous
sessions will now open.

Thansk for the replies Bob.
Well, now I've installed DAE 7.2.1 and it is stable..I even have auto
input enabled and it is working well.
Still tho, DAE prefs in Logic will not retain the 64 Track setting,
but will stick at 96 Tracks.
Gonna run this all day and see what happens.
Thanks
Mark

Hi all!
Has anyone out ther used RAID 0 for Eastwest Symphonic Choir or
perhaps Symphonic Orchestra?
Have been using the EWQLSC today with lots of white annoying noise
due to my Firewire 400Mbps 120Glyph Hard Drives only producing 11MB/s
read capacity....which clearly is not enough juice. Perhaps eSATA II
Hard Drive?
I'm just learning about Stripe RAID (RAID 0) which interleaves the
data between 2 or more Hard Drives. So, if i have 3x 120GByte Glyph
Hard Drives, each producing a sustained rate of 11MB/s, does it
really give me 33MBytes of read capcity (sustained) or is there some
loss? What about the storage capacity? Protools does not support RAID
right or does this mean they have just not tested it???
More importantly, is it enough juice for my EWQLSC samples? i.e. the
full dynamic samples for SAT&B
Look forwward to hearing from you.

Hi
Been trawling to find best way to import my key commands from OS 9 system
(Logic 6) to OSX Tiger and Logic 7.2.
The icon in the OSX Logic pref file is very different to the one exported
from OS 9. Ive tried changing the title of the OS 9 pref file to mirror the
OSX pref file and also tried trashing the OSX pref file and manually
dragging my old OS 9 pref file in to the correct location in the library but
it dont work.
I also tried the alternative route of choosing "Import Key
Commands" from
the Key Commands menu in Logic 7.2 but when I navigate to import, the
original OS 9 pref file is greyed out.
Any help would be fantastic..
Thanks

Hi ED, I´m still waiting for your offer, concerning the HD 3 PCI RIG.
What did you think about the Songs?
Hi
I know this has been covered before but my Epic plug-ins just stopped
working on my Logic 6/PT rig. Im using XS blue key. It says Critical Error..
I know this is a discontinued product but there seems to be many others who
have obtained these codes from Apple a while back.
I reckon I need the access codes from Apple but when I go to the link at
Apple for the Logic support request form I cant see it.
Can someone point me in the right direction for contacting Apple to
hopefully get these codes...I need these plug-ins badly!
Many thanks
Ged

Try switching it to the other option for the number of DSP chips you want to
use. Sometimes then it sticks and you can set it how you want it after that.
I think I have done this from Logic itself and not from PT.
Come to think of it, what is the point of having 2 options for track counts
for the same number of DSP chips anyhow? I've never been really clear on
that.

Our studio is now to old and we need to upgrade but what should we buy?
We are thinking about a Mac Pro and since we still use Logic 5 a new version
Logic Pro 7.2.
Right now we use 3 Digidesign 888/16i/o and 2 Emagic AMT 8. As much as I
unterstood till
today is that all our equiment is incompatible to the new Mac Pro.
Does somebody have an idea. Any suggestion ?
Thanks a lot, Thomas
