ProTools 7 (and vicariously, Logic 7.2 using DAE) doesn't
play nice with Waves 5.0. You need to upgrade to 5.2.
It's a paid upgrade (might be free for you depending when
you bought it).
Yes, it will indeed "work" in ProTools 7, but not efficiently.
And you definitely need to update the AudioUnit version past 5.0
as well (I think it's called 5.01 hotfix).

I don´t have Logic crashing with WaveShell DAE 5.0 (I´m not
under WUP and it
would cost me ca. $500 to renew it :-( ).
You need the AU version 5.01 though.

Many years ago, I suggested an enhancement to the Metronome object and
Emagic wrote back asking for my permission to use the idea, which I was
delighted to give. It's hard to imagine such a thing happening now that
Apple own the product...

Hi Guy's
I'm thinking of buying the Waves Diamond TDM Bundle and I was just wondering
if any of you
have got it and what you think of it. I am currently able to buy it 20% off
and can just about
stretch to buy it. I have the current free plugins you get when you buy HD
3, and massive
pack 3. I got Revibe and synchronic with the upgrade to PT 7 Deal. As I am a
DJ as well as a
sound engineer I need to get some restoration plugins anyway as the vinyl I
bought from the
eighty's onwards won't last forever. also I remember a while ago a certain
person was not
happy with the WUP and wondered if that was all sorted out now and what they
think of it
now.
Yours Sincerely Dennis O'Brien.
Hi O'Brien,
I don't got the diamond bundle but the Platinum TDM and Restorations
Native Bundle. I am really satisfied with the restoration stuff. I
used it for in fact vinyl and schellack restoration and it is really
good and easy to use. The De-Noise is sometimes a little bit tricky
to find the best way between no noise and better sound results. The
de-click and de-crackle are really cool. Also with the native bundle
I am able top use the audiosuite plugs and that's enough for me.
I am also very happy with the TDM Platinum Bundle but I am sure you
know the easy to use high quality waves. So it is a very big
"basic"
mixing tool bundle. Because I don't use the additional diamond bundle
plugins but the restaurations it was cheaper for me that way.

Axel

Thanks to those who offered advice. I had previously installed Waveshell AU
5.0.1, but re-installing it fixed the Waveshell DAE problem, for some
reason.

I think there are plenty of plug ins out there that are just as good
as anything Waves is making ...... the Sony Oxford's are fantastic
the MC DSP stuff is great ..... etc etc etc
once upon a time Waves were making the best products but today there
are great options that DON"T INCLUDE THE WUP .... the WUP is no
better than when first introduced ......
it's still a sham ..... I would recommend you look else where for
your needs .... I use the products simply because I've had it long
before the WUP and can't really re-invest in a new package of stuff
otherwise I would have dropped them after the WUP was introduced .....

I agree and have two recomendations. The New SSL Duende is awesome.
The bugs are still being worked out of the drivers, but if you are
mixing this thing is awesome. And also the UAD cards. The 1176 and
LA2A emulations are spot on and there's a whole host of additional
plug-ins and synths to choose from that will run with that. I have
Waves Platinum bundle and am using it less and less. (actually not at
all my last 3 or 4 projects now.) Also check out PSP for some cool
effects and really good sounding mastering quality compression and EQ.
The downside of my recommendation is that none of them are TDM... At
least the Waves stuff will work on both sides of that fence. So I
guess it depends which audio driver you'll be using most and for
wether you are mixing or being creative. Waves will also give you
compatibility with a lot of other systems because everyone seems to
have them.
Also, I find that for creative cool and useful effects, the SoundToys
bundle is pretty amazing. TDM only.
choices, choices.

Hi,
I just finished some composing in surround in Logic and I (still) am
a bit confused so I want to explain what I did and hear what some of
you do.
I used my PT 192 as and an i/o, but I could not find a proper way to
set-up a multichannel master fader... any ideas?
The mistake I made at first was that I had my standard stereo master
with plug-inns ... and when bouncing in surround the other (surround)
tracks didn't have the 'mastering treatment', so I kicked them.
I then made a set-up with 3 stereo masters (L/R, pair, Ls/Rs pair and
C/LFE pair) and bounced 3 times.....
In the last part of working in Surround I decided to delete all my
master faders and just go to bounce, select surround 5.1 and all went
well.
I am curious to know how others go about in composing in surround.

The first thing that jumps out at me is your discount sounds low. A couple
months ago, I
called my guy at Guitar Center about buying Waves Platinum (a second copy.)
The
discount was almost 50% (!!!) and had nothing to do with me already being a
Waves
customer. So be sure you're getting as much discount as possible. I
could be wrong, but
20% doesn't sound right.
I didn't like WUP in the past and could be counted amongst the haters, but
they've lowered
the price a lot. For Platinum, it's only about $300/year now, which I
don't think is that
bad. Plus I could pay for several years in advance at an even lower rate,
so I'm covered for
three years now.

I would love you too. I Could do with another 96 interface.
Thanks

Hi All,
Is there a simple pci card (ala WaveCenter) for OS X that I can put into

Hi all.
Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I'm forced to mix
in Logic again (phew...) and when I recorded my first mix I get this
"file not found"-error and then an "Out of memory"
message and Logic
crashes. I'm NOT short of internal memory, no softsynths, no DTDM, only
32 tracks of TDM audio. And, a lot of plugs....
What is this? Any help appreciated, thanks.
Cheers
Alar
Hey Alar, you have a lot of chopped up regions in that arrange?
I found that last time I tried to mix a huge project I had to merge a lot of
my audio objects to be stable...phew!

Check the permissions on your audio drive for all folders involved -
and also the global record path.
One way you can get a file not found error is that Logic thinks it is
writing the file (and is so silly that it ignores the error message
from the OS), then when it goes to read what it wrote there is
nothing there. Then Logic is so embarrased that it has to leave the
room!
That may not be the problem here, but it's worth checking out.
Good luck!

Hey Erik and Dave,
thanks a lot for your hints, no permission problems, but
seems like removing the global record path
initially solved the problem. For now. But isn't it strange that Apple
just can't fix this record path problem that we've had for years now, once
and for all! The OS is theirs, and so is Logic now, strange that they
can't arrange a decent marriage between the couple.... Maybe it's because
Logic leaves the room too often......
Thanx again! Ha en fin sommar!

Hi there
I know you posted this a while back but Im suffering the problem, running

same G5 with 3 gig ram....every time i try to run Protools DAE error 1146
digi test tells me my cards are broken
have you had any joy sorting the problem out?

He really sorted me out.
Hi,
that "out of memory" message comes up in Logic, if there are
PlugIns
used in a project, that you
don't have or which aren't licensed. So, one workaround:
Can you open the project without doing anything else (like hit play)? If
so, open it, deselect your
drivers after it and than put out all PlugIns you don't have. Save as
another song, acitvate the
drivers, quit and start logic and open the song again. That should work.
I got this often after for example the waves demos expired, or the
dongle for steinberg plugins
wasn't plugged into the computer.
