F-erenc, could it be a corrupt DVD ? Can't for the life of me figure out why it should be greyed out. I'm checking mine here and it won't grey out ESB/EXS install either with those files in the plug-in folder or without.. The funny thing is that this reminds me of the other week when I helped a friend to upgrade. His didn't update the ESB/EXS24 either. But we could easily go back and custom install. Maybe a complete re-install of PT and then LP? /Erik > Thanks for the quick response and file! > > It's indeed a later version than mine (2.01 versus 2.1), > but it still crashes Logic 7.2 in the same way. > > I can't get the 7.2 DVD to install ESB (it's greyed > out). > > I only have the Stereomixer plugin and ESB (just > to eliminate the possibility that it could be another > plugin, plus to speed up boot times when testing). > > > f-erenc > > > > Bob DeMaa <bobdemaa@mac.com> writes: >> I had to disable the Emagic HTDMEnabledInstrumentsOSX plug-in to keep >> PT from crashing on startup. >> >> My ESB is version 2.1 I've enclosed here should it help. >> >> best, >> >> Bob >> >> On Feb 24, 2006, at 6:47 PM, f-erenc szabo wrote: >> >>> I installed Logic 7.2 on an HD rig with OSX 10.43 and PT7.1cs4 and >>> it crashes if ESB is in the PlugIns folder. Here EXS/ESB was greyed out when I tried to install LP7.2, too, until I first installed PT7.1cs4. Maybe your PT install is faulty? Subject: [L-TDM] Logic 7.2 / PT 7.1cs4 / HD3 / Dual 2.7 G5 report
Message #23278
After upgrading from a dual gig with Logic 7.1 and working with this new configuration for a week straight now here are some observations: DTDM is way more stable now. I used to pipe a 2408 into my 192 digital in order to access Vi's and native plugs under core audio. No longer necessary as far as I can tell. I had one ESB distortion crash the first day I began working on the new rig as I was clicking around Stylus RMX really quickly. after that, DTDM ran smoothly the rest of the week. I still lose MIDI on certain tracks randomly from time to time. This includes both MIDI tracks and instrument tracks. I lost automation on a track once also. Closing and reopening the song cures this. This is a major bug in my opinion . . . makes me so nervous now that I always close and reopen a song right before mixing down to be sure all my crap is playing. totally ridiculous if you ask me. When Logic is in "punch on the fly" mode, it freezes for 3 seconds after hitting play before starting playback. It's completely annoying. This feature however didn't really work at all for me before so I guess its an improvement but come on . . . I feel in general I'm getting less crashes but its not rock solid by any means. My crashes happen mostly when closing and opening songs. The soundtoys bug is driving me a little crazy . . . I was told they would have a beta fix ready to distribute in couple of days though. Hey Charlie, Mitch Forman here. How goes it? Searching around for node info myself. I'm trying to squeeze some more life out of my G4 /400 w/ Sonnet upgrade card at 1.2 gig. I'm trying to connect it with a G4 powerbook as the node. I don't have gigabit ethernet on the desktop so I'm trying to use firewire as the node network connection. Not much luck but wasting a lot of time. Do you know if the node and the master machines have to be on the same operating systems? One is Tiger and on is Panther. by the way, nice job on Terri Lyn's CD. Mitch

Hi Judson, did you do a clean install, build a new Autoload from scratch or did you just install the new programs and plugin versions? I´m changing my internal SATA disks, I´ll most probably do a clean install at some time but I´m not sure how timeconsuming it would be. Can´t afford losing too much studio time at the moment. Any other observations during your installation process? I believe you´re right about soundtoys, I actually thought they´d come up with a beta at the end of this week, it doesn´t seem that far away. I handed them a shortlist of our observations a few days ago. Their problem is they don´t have a problem at all. They can´t reproduce the problem. Lucky sods... The "punch" delay could be because your record allocation is set to a high value (30 minutes or more) or the volume you´re recording on is almost full? I´ve sent SoundToys a bug report some weeks ago. I hope they´ll do a bug fix soon, I´m reluctant to use their plugs in LP until then. :-/ Peter --- http://www.merlinsound.de Judson wrote: > When Logic is in "punch on the fly" mode, it freezes for 3 seconds > after hitting play before starting playback. Peter, did you try taking Echoboy out of the Soundtoys folder in the Digi Plugins ditto? It makes Logic find all the necessary bundle files over here about 90% of the time. /E G5 2x1,8, 4GB RAM, OSX 10.4.2, HD Accel3, PT 6.9.3cs2, L7.1.1 _______________________________ Erik Häusler Future Love Productions AB mob. +46 708 650 550 erik@futurelove.se 26 feb 2006 kl. 03.20 skrev Peter Duemmler: > I´ve sent SoundToys a bug report some weeks ago. > I hope they´ll do a bug fix soon, I´m reluctant to use their plugs > in LP > until then. :-/ > > Peter > --- > http://www.merlinsound.de >

Yep, that was my trick, but it doesn´t work here 90% of the time. It mostly works when I alternatively put one of the plugs out of the Soundtoys folder and back every time before I start Logic. I did a complete clean install of everything into 10.4.3 before I put in the HD cards so I could continue using my old system until I had a free day to switch over. but I'm using my old autoload. Perhaps a new autoload would grant me some additional stability. No major hangups during the install . . . only update frustration is bombfactory compressors and EQ . . . for some reason they fail my ilok authorization now. need to update I guess. i thought I got all those updates when I upgraded to HD last year. love the "search" function in the audio window . . . was that there before? Hi - Any of you guys tried to load audiofiles into the new Waveburner ?- I can drag them directly from finder into Waveburner, but if I try to load audiofiles from within Waveburner it crashes,( the rotating beach ball ). - instancitating Autotune makes Logic report errors the next time you open the song, something like : Unitor8 output 3 is not available, Unitor8 output 4 is not available ecetera... because Autotune activates a mididriver for each plugin, - annoying !! - Logic looses midi contact to instruments, a very annoying bug ! - Legacy port on 192i/o does'nt communicate properly with the connected ADATbridge24 , the ADAT interface is blinking suggesting no sync ! I'm routing a MOTU 828mk2 pipeline that way. - the TDM output meters still shows incorrect values, the left side is way to low . - Logic 7.2 makes DFH interface look funny, all white screen, maybee it's a DFH fix . - should we consider to make a deal about NOT updating anything for about 2 years, if we can get to a point where a Tiger/Logic7.2/PT7.1 works OK ,(like minor bugs with workarounds). meaning don't buy Logic 8 - don't buy PT 7.5 - don't buy OSX 10.5 PussyCat (or what ever). Untill they make some software that is reliable, often the development is 1 step forward but 2 steps backwards, at the moment we're a joke and the software makers are making money . best regards Lars Krarup

as soon as I activate it and start activating the sequnce, or even if it's not activated, but I go to trigger sounds from my Trigger finger. It instantly blows out the ESB and everything goes to distortion town. Try setting the buffer range to medium, who knows, might make a difference. I've been using medium here for almost a year. It seems the distorted ESB went away with one of the LP updates for me. Subject: [L-TDM] I Upgraded to PT7 / Logic 7.2
Message #23297
I am just going through the upgrade process. Logic has been on a downward spiral for years now in regards to compatibility with digidesign. So far, 3 days into it, this combo seems as though it might be the one that brings us TDM/Logic users to the rock solid days of OS 8.6. I can even open a song seconds after closing the last song. The CPU has not crashed yet…amazing! You MUST use Pro Tools 7.1cs4 Depending on your third party plugs and instruments, there are many things to upgrade when moving from PT6.x to PT7. Sound Toys are at 50% right now. I spoke with tech support on Friday and they are working on full Logic 7.2/PT7 support. As of now, all the new plug ins don't work in Logic (they do in Pro Tools) this includes… Tremolator Phase Mistress Echo Boy Filter Freak Crystallizer The older ones seem to work fine… Speed Sound Blender Pure Pitch Waves Diamond seems good though I have had some weird stuff…Rverb compact works but would not load my old song settings. Installing PT7 required me to turn off firevault on OS 10.4.5 that in turn resets the machines ID. So some things authorizing your drive need some new codes. Ie.Ivory Native Instruments no longer works as a TDM plug anymore until someone makes a RTAS wrapper. Guitar Rig live input from DAE goes away. Here is my system- Dual 2.5 G5 4 gigs RAM 2 192's Pro Tools 7 slot chassis (SBS from 2000) HD 7 (core, 3 Accel, 3 process) PT 7.1cs4 Logic 7.2 Filter Bank Sansamp Waves Diamond Sound Toys TDM Effects (all) Amp Farm Echo Farm Oh…many more of the Digi plugs… Hope this helps

Thinking of getting a Quad 2,5 with a Magma. The option would be to find a G5 without PCIe, but it's very difficult to find the older dual 2,5/2,7 machines, at least in Sweden... Thanks, Hakan

Subject: [L-TDM] New Internal SATA issue..
Message #23300
Hey Group! I have just installed a new Maxtor SATA 300 GB 16MB cach drive in my first rev 2x2 G5. I copied all content on my old internal and transferred to this. Now when I open a song from the new one, LP says it can't find a certain file and asks me to skip, search or manually locate. You guys know the drill... Problem is, when I press "search" LP just flat out crashes! No warning, no bug report option etc. It just quits on me. If I manually locate, all is good. It accepts the file and locates all the rest by itself. I save and next time there is no hassle. Now, it's going to take forever to manually locate the first file in ALL my songs and save, so I was wondering if you guys had any input on what I can do to get my songs to recognize the locations of my files? I'm using Mac OS Extended (Journaled) on all my drives. I'm not using Project Manager in LP Thanks In Advance, Erik
