Today I've installed protools 7.1cs4 and logic 7.2. When I try to use
Audiosuite (preview and process) in Logic I got the message:
"Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI. Sample rate 488056
(or another samplerate: 1500001, 8736044...) recognized. Check
conflict between Logic Pro and external device.
Then I have no more audio and ESB anymore. My interfaces give no
input/output signal anymore and I need to restart Logic Pro.
It takes also about 40 seconds to shut down my Logic Pro. Is this
normal?
Any ideas?

Hi
I am reporting the results of these experiments....
The remove-audio-path method worked successfully but it's clusmy.
When recording on tracks above 33, when I removed the audio path and
then enabled record, I was asked to name the file. No problem. But
then every time, I had to go back through that same process.
Tracks under 33 work correctly with the regular set-audio-record-path
method, so I decided on a simpler workaround.
Now for recording tracks above 33, I am reserving three tracks below
33 for use as recording tracks only - track 30 (set to mono) and
31-32 (set to a stereo pair). I use them to record as needed, then
after recording, I move the resulting regions to the tracks where I
want them to reside, or I change the track reference on the arrange
page as needed.
This way, I get the file name correct and don't have to return to the
audio window to rename the files after recording when using tracks
above 33.
Frustrating either way, seems like it would be a simple bug to fix.
Maybe it will work better in Logic 9!
Thanks again for your advise on this.

Those files should be invisible. Google to find a download of the
utility called Tinkertool (I think it's free). With it you can set
the Finder to show or hide invisible files. Sometimes those settings
get wacky and need to be tweaked.... I have no idea why.

Does anyone have a working system on a g4.
I have a G4 MF dual 867, HD2 Acell, OS 10.4.3 ,Logic 7.2 ,Tools 7.1 cs 4. I
keep getting a
-6004 error "can't acquire hardware" The drive has been zero'd and
everything is a fresh
install.Logic works fine under core audio and Tools works perfectly. I have
come to the
conclusion it just hasn't been tested by anyone and there is an
incompatability with it. Any
ideas?
the only idea I have off the top is to make sure that in your "Audio
Midi Setup" utility, the Default output and the System output are
both set to built in and not Digi Core.
Also, try disabling Core Audio Drive in Logic, and use only the DAE
to test it is working. If you have the Core Audio Driver set to
DigiHW, it may be interfering with the DAE engine.

I'm on Logic 6.4.3, OSX 10.3.7, G4 933, HD Accel3.
(Currently demoing EchoBoy and Eventide bundle and McDSP Synthesizer One.)
I get the following message on startup:
"Error -12345 while trying to set plug-in setup.
Checksum error. Setup data probably damaged."
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

If Digi HW was taking control of the sound manager it would just disable DAE
on boot up,
This is as if the interface or cable is broken. I only used core audio to
check if Logic was
working as you can clearly see the HW panel load when it has control.

Before you boot up Logic, check the AudioMIDI setup
application and make sure that the Digi hardware is NOT
selected in either input nor output. Sometimes, you have
to select Digi, and then select Internal to kind of wake it
up.

Hi Håkan,
Have you tried taking the plugs out one by one to see if there´s any
change?
Soundtoys have had issues when their plugins reside in the Soundtoys
folder inside the Digidesign plugins folder. They´re working on a fix
for it, although they can´t reproduce the problem themselves. As I
understand it Logic can´t find the ST plugins preset folders. A
workaround is starting up ProTools first, quitting it and opening
Logic afterwards. I´d start by taking Echoboy out of the ST folder if
that´s where it is now. It worked flawlessly out of the folder for me
´til I got the bundle.
All the best

Well give me a configuration that you think will work. You cant get higher
than Logic 7.2
and that requires 7.1 cs4 (which is the highest PT7 revision that is
specified as the version
to work with logic 7.2)to work on any system. And there are only 2 OS
variations above
10.4.3 available and none of them work so it brings me back to my original
question, Does
anyone have a working 7.2 g4 system

Thanks Erik!
I tried your tips but it still behaves weird.
In PT, no prob.
In my Autoload I get those error messages, but can still use EchoBoy.
When I try to open it in another song that I'm working on at the moment I
get more errors
and it refuses to open...
What version of Logic are you on?
I'm on 6.4.3, waiting for 7.2 to arrive, maybe that works better.
Best Regards,
Hakan
If Echoboy is already out of the Soundtoys folder I´d try opening PT
first, instanciating it, then open the Logic song document directly
instead of opening Autoload first.

Tried that without success, thanks anyway!
I'll let you know if I find out what's causing this...
Hakan
I have a MDD 1Ghz G4 with 7.2 , HD3 Accel-PT 7.1 cs4 and OSX 10.4.5 ...
There are a couple of issues ...
I have problems with olders songs on automation (I have the Mackie Control)
the Mackie loses his outputting capacities but still reads the recorded
automation ... The transport buttons freeze and so do the faders.
The clean Autoload plays fine though !
I tried copying my files from the old arrangement to the new updating the
environments etc .. But no luck, I couldn't transfer the automation !
I had to move to another hdd with 7.1.1 and PT 6.9.3 to finish my work ..
Which also reminds me I had another issue recording on those songs ..
Trying to record audio would take me to the default audio location window
all the time ... Result, I can't record audio on old songs !
This incompatibility with "old" songs is scaring me ... I hate to
say it but
I feel I'm drifting towards Pro Tools for serious stuff :-(

I know this isn't the typical type of message posted in this group,
so I'll keep this brief. I have been using Logic for over 10 years
and have been a loyal member of the Logic-related Yahoo groups.
I recorded an album project that was done entirely in Logic Pro, and
I need someone to mix the project in Logic. I am looking for someone
that has experience mixing record-label projects, and that has their
own home studio suitable for mixing, because my budget for mixing
the whole CD is about 2-3K.
I have done a lot of editing, cleaning up and rough mixing myself,
so the project is in a much-better-than-average place to begin
mixing. However, I still need someone with industry experience to
give everything that radio-quality "sheen" and make the project
sound balanced on all types of speakers. A feel for hip-hop beats
and what's currently playing in urban radio would be a plus. The
project is R&B/Pop/Gospel in style. Please contact me at
eddieproducer@comcast.net if you're interested in talking further.
Thanks!
hi hakan -
feeling your pain w/ the plug problem. i recently updated my rig from os9
MIX to osX HD,
and it takes some time getting everything to work well together. i've had
specific issues
with both the soundtoys stuff and the syn1 (though not the eventide..always
wondered
about possibly purchasing that....) as well as a few other plugs.
as for the echoboy, the soundtoys issues have been documented on this forum.
soundtoys is working on it, but it's probably more of an apple issue per se.
i have it
working, but only if the plugs are opened first in the initial autoload. if
i immediately open
another song WITHOUT first opening echoboy, phasemistress, crystallizer, et al
in the
autoload, they refuse to instantiate in the new song. that's the best i
could get it, and a lot
seems to depend on WHERE the plugs live. experimenting with moving each/any
of them
in and out of their "soundtoys" folder may find one that does the
trick.
with syn1, it used to not instantiate until a recent upgrade of my apple
"pro app support"
file. now it works fine.
besides what's been offered already, try the following...
-repair permissions (of course)
-make sure you've got the correct "pro application support" file
(for your os) downloaded
from the apple site
-trashing your logic prefs (i'm sure you've tried that old trick already)
-rebuilding your autoload from scratch (it takes a second, but it's worked
once or twice for
me in the past on weird tdm/dae behavior when all else has failed)

I work more and more in protools for similar reasons. Logic is very
very unpredictable for me with regards to automation.
I know this doesn't help anything .. but I needed to vent.

When I realized the difference between track based automation, and
region base automation, and how they will fight with each other if
both used, all my automation issue went away.
Now when I mix a track, I check for what the client was using, and
ultimately convert all region based automation to track based
automation. I mixed an entire record recently doing this and didn't
have any problems specifically with automation functionality.
Best,
Bob
Hi,
I have been reading the forum for a while now. The time has come for me to
address
some issues with Logic and TDM.
I assist a composer that has been using Logic-TDM for years.
Though is hard to reproduce the different type of crashes that we experience
(up to 20
times a day), there is some sort of consistency.
Hopefully you might have some tips.
We are using a dual 2.5Ghz G5 with 10.4.3 and 4GB RAM. Logic 7.1.1 and 192
HD.
I have rebuilt the autoload MANY times and followed some advice from prior
postings to
troubleshoot some of the possible bugs or related problems with TDM-Logic
systems.
I'm crashing while changing from one session to another consistently. I
can't isolate the
issue, but everytime I close a session and open a prior one I crash. Trying
to reopen Logic
will produce a Kernel panic.
Another crash often occurs while recording. A window will appear telling me
that logic has
a problem synchronizing audio and midi and asks me to exit. The truth is
that I actually
can't hit exit: the program continues recording but the software is frozen.
Is someone
having this sort of problem?
We've never previously had a latency problem but out of the blue we recently
are
experiencing a delay while monitoring. Any idea? How could I trouble shoot
from Logic?
Thank you so much for your help.

I installed Logic 7.2 on an HD rig with OSX 10.43 and PT7.1cs4 and
it crashes if ESB is in the PlugIns folder. The ESB that is in there
is version 2.01. If I try to re-install from the Logic 7.2 DVD, the
install for ESB is greyed out.
Can somebody please check the version of their working ESB with
Logic7.2 and PT7, and email it to me if it's higher than 2.01?
It's a small file.... less than half a MB.

I tried the latest version of each WaveShell with Logic 7.2 and
ProTools 7.1cs4 and it always crashes Logic upon bootup (right
when the WaveShell gets accessed during DAE launch).
The AU version works fine (that's the one that usually doesn't
work, but this time I got their "hotfix AU" version that works
fine).
ProTools 7.1cs4 boots up just fine with the WaveShells.

It's indeed a later version than mine (2.01 versus 2.1),
but it still crashes Logic 7.2 in the same way.
I can't get the 7.2 DVD to install ESB (it's greyed
out).
I only have the Stereomixer plugin and ESB (just
to eliminate the possibility that it could be another
plugin, plus to speed up boot times when testing).
