I can't load them more than 3 times without a crash.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Erik,
I'm on 10.4.2 with Logic 7.1.1 and Protools 6.9.3cs3 and it is very
stable at the moment.
I have not had a crash for a few weeks now.
But... I;ve been working mostly on rock projects the last month-
using very few DTDM objects, although DTDM is still enabled.

Given my well documented problems earlier last year I am pretty happy
with Logic TDM at the moment.
The above combination is pretty cool.
I had a an RME Multiface- it was great but I sold it a few years ago
and stayed with Logic TDM/ESB
James
Rebuilding the template (autoload) from scratch solved the problem.

Hi,
I have problems to get my advc 100 back to work with OS X 10.3 and 10.4. It
once worked wthout problems back in 10.2.
Canopus support told me to reinstall quicktime to quicktime 7.0.1 (it was
7.0.4 before)
Any help appreciated...

hi all
recently installed the Garritan Personal Orchestra v.2 and the kontact
player
works fine when running natively. however, when i try to run more than 2
instruments under DTDM logic crashes. anybody experienced this or know if
this is a problem with the kontact instrument or maybe it happens with
other
instruments? any help appreciated as theres not much orchestration to be
done with just a piano and a violin!

dual 2Gig G5, 2Gig RAM, 10.3.9, HD2, Logic 7.1.1,
The Apple info page doesn't mention RTAS which I assume to mean that it
won't be
supported. But it does say ,"Logic Pro 7.2 is fully compatible with
the Pro Tools 7.1 version
of DAE. All features are supported..." So maybe that means RTAS plugs
will be available on
DAE tracks?
Did anyone see Apple at NAMM and inquire about this?

I read about it here on Yahoo's Logic-TDM Forum. I went for it and it
works!! I just
purchased a Mix "Cubed" i.e. Mix Plus Core Card and 2 Farm Cards.
I read Logic Pro 7's
TDM guide, and about Logics ESB1 and EXSTDM, and DTDM(Direct TDM) and how
you can
use Logics AU plugins, virtual instruments and PowerCore's with ESB1 (Logic
Pro's TDM
Bridge). I purchased a used ATTO UL3D SCSI card that's supposedly compatible
with Pro
Tools and removed my PowerDomain Adaptec 29160. I configured my setup and
I'm able
to use all of my Audio Unit and most of all my PowerCore plugins and virtual
instruments
in Pro Tools DAE and TDM. This is the stuff!!!

Hi all,
I had to exchange my third HD with all my SoundFiles. I gave the HD the
same name as the one before and just copied all my files to the new HD.
In order to keep the files and all the informations of my huge
SoundBank (for Film Productions) I just copied the PMdata to the
LogicPrefs Folder.
BUT: Now my ProjectManager doesn't find the files on the new HD. Only
when I SCAN again the HD, there are the files again. BUT without the
thousands of comments I have written to each file!!! I am totaly lost.
I should be possible (maybe with a workaround) to exchange a HD without
loosing all the informations of the ProjectManager i have collected in
the last years.
Help!!!
Matthias.
I have a powerbook/002r setup that is "slaved" to my G4/mix3
system. On the
powerbook I run Logic express 7.1.1.
I would need some advice for how to sync the powerbook/logic sequencer to
logic on the G4/mix system. My goal is to use appleloops on the powerbook.
Any info would be appreciated.
Regards.
Henning.
Hi All,
First of all I must apologize for a big mistake I made in my original post
and possibly
mislead people about using the PowerCore with Pro Tools DTDM with Logic
7.1.1.!
I discovered that you can only use PowerCore plugins on virtual instruments
when you're
tracking them or playing them back. So far I haven't been able to record
them to audio
either. However, I could "Export track as audio file" to DAE which
worked fine. But when I
tried to playback the audio, which I was able to do, for some reason the
virtual
instruments became disabled with absolutely no response. Anyone have any
experience
with this. I've been a native user of Logic for quite some time and had no
issues. I really
like my PowerCore VSS3, MD3, and Oxford Eq but it looks like if I'm going to
stick with Pro
Tools I'll have to get a G5 and upgrade to an HD system and get the TDM
versions of VSS3
and MD3. Anyone with experience please help.
Thanks,
Randy

Hey guys! I guess you've read the crossgrade announcement, what do you make
of this:
"Logic Pro 7.2 is fully compatible with the Pro Tools 7.1 version of
DAE. All features are
supported, including ESB and EXS24TDM. Note that users must install an
updated Digidesign
Stream Manager framework library file, which is downloadable from the
Digidesign support
website."
Now, I can't find a trace of this "Digidesign Stream Manager framework
library file" anywhere
on digi's support pages. Would anyone speculate? Will I first have to wait
for the Logic 7.2
update and then wait for digi to post their framework file? You guys think
it will be somewhat
a simultaneous release? I've heard rumours about LP7.2 being the final
"safe" PT compatble
update....OS9 days! We'll see.
TIA,
Erik

Logic 7.2 isn't even released yet, so it doesn't matter that this

I know it doesn't matter, I was just looking for some friendly whining or
even speculation of how things will play out. You know, we'll get the 7.2
update all exited and then have to wait for that framework forever.
Call me the update junkie, I guess.

Hi All,
I've had a nightmare 'day' yesterday. I've been working with the same setup
for quite a while without having major problems with midi.
I've got quite a big midi setup in which I have 3 x Unitor8 (one of those is
an Mk2) connected in cascade to my G5 via USB and another AMT8 which is
connected directly to another USB port of the same G5, being further away
from the other interfaces.
Now, as I said, I've used this setup for a while without any glitches, but
yesterday for some reason everything in the midi setup went mad:
In the Arrange Window on my Logic7.1.1 I selected the midi instrument I
wanted to play, but when I was playing for instance the Voyager, which was
selected (connected to the bunch of 3 Unitors) and I moved the cursor to the
SE1-X, which is connected to the AMT8, my SE1-X wouldn't play at all. I've
created a 1 bar sequence for the Voyager and 1 for the SE1X and only the
Voyager would play.
While Logic was stopped I was moving with the cursor from one midi
instrument to another I had to press stop (even Logic wasn't in play mode)
to be able to play the desired instrument otherwise another not selected
midi instrument would play. The Arrange Window would show me the right
instrument (with the correct Midi Port) but the AMT8 led would flash
according to the instrument I was hearing.
I've tried everything I know, from checking the Audio Midi Setup on the OSX
(I'm running OSX 10.3.9) to the Assistant in Logic, to disconnect and
reconnect the Midi interfaces, shutdown everything, ... finally I installed
the USB Driver from the Emagic Logic Pro6 CD and it seemed to work (at least
for a while). I still don't know what could have caused this, since I didn't
install anything new, nor downloaded some strange plugs that might get in
conflict. I'm not quite sure that this was the right solution, since even
after the USB Driver Installation I still had the same funny behavior after
a while.
Any help would be very much appreciated
Sven
Hi Sven,
I had some problems like you, two years ago. I have two Unitors and
one AMT8 and I had all of them connectet to an USB hub. With the time
I got more and more Midi-errors.
The answer: You have to cascade them all together (like in the
manual), otherwise OSX isn't able to recognize which one where is.
So, buy another RS422 (if I remember it right) cable and try it again.
Since 2 years there are no problems left with it after doing so...

Hi Sven,
does that include cutting the power and restarting the damn thing? At
times upon autoloading my midi tells me that this interface or that
isn´t available (mainly software routings that I´ve configured).
Restarting sets the record straight. It just goes a little crazy
sometimes, don´t we all? They can´t go out for a beer, so I
can´t
really blame them...
Guess there could be something wrong with your USB cable too. Suppose
you´ve tweaked the connectors a bit already.
Maybe there´s a point to cascading all of your interfaces together?
BTW I´m not sure how well that Audio Midi setup thing works. I must
admit to using an Autoload that was conceived way back that´s just
been finetuned since. But still, Autoload complains that there´s no
such thing as a Unitor8 interface connected. Which is true, I´ve got
an amt8 connected instead. I´ve told and configured Audio MIDI Setup
properly but I get the same message everytime I start up Logic
anyway. It works flawlessly, so it´s not worth going through the pain
of reconfiguring the whole thing from scratch.
All the best

Hi Axel,
Many thanks for your advice. The only thing that bugs me is that the AMT8 is
quite far away from the 3 Unitors. Is there a maximum length that I can use
for a RS422 cable?

Hi Erik,
Yep, I've tried everything and I never got the problem that it wouldn't
recognize the Interfaces. I've also tried with another USB cable, with no
success.
I guess that cascading all 4 interfaces together should do the trick, but
the distance between those bugs me.

Sven

On the speculation tip; ....will be interesting to see how ESB works now,
more channels across the NATIVE to DAE bridge would be useful here.

Everything is the same (in DAE and DTDM and ESB), minus
the ability to instanicate HTDM plugins on DAE tracks.
So, Logic 7.2 has some new features to be sure, but none
of them are in the world of DAE/ESB - and in fact there is one
major feature missing (thanks to Digidesign abandoning HTDM).
So there is no way at all to instanciate any kind of native plugin
on a DAE track in Logic 7.2. Not HTDM. Not RTAS. Not AU.
And since Logic 7.2 is for Tiger only, it can't be used
with MIX hardware.
All ProTools6 functionality has been removed from Logic 7.2.
This means that Logic 7.2 requires ProTools 7 to work with
HD hardware via DAE.

Hi,
I don't think so, but I don't know it. I have about 3 m from the
first to second, and then about 30cm between the second and third
Interface. So that is not really far away.
Let us know how far and if it solves your problem as it does for me...

Hi f-erenc,
How do you know this? Do you have other sources than the info on the Apple
site you referred to earlier?
"Logic Pro 7.2 is fully compatible with the Pro Tools 7.1 version
of DAE. All features are supported, including ESB and EXS24TDM.
'All features' is a bit cryptic here - it could mean 'all relevant Pro Tools
features' (which would include RTAS) or it could mean 'all features
previously available in Logic Pro's TDM support'
At least, that's how I read it, so to me there's no conclusive evidence on
RTAS not being present in 7.2 in this text. Am I wrong? Or just too
optimistic?

Ivo

RTAS will never be supported in Logic. It's only for the Pro Tools
software.

Hi Axel,
I think about 4-5m. Since the cables provided are not that long, do you
recon that I can use any other serial Mac cable of my old Mac 8100?
BTW, since you are very found of Emagic's Midi interfaces, I've just
purchased second hand another Unitor 8 Mk2. Strangely it has written Unitor
8 (without the Mk2), but it looks identical to an Mk2, having the USB port
as well (obviously) as the serial ports (Mac+PC) and on the serial number's
sticker it say 'Unitor 8Mk2 Rev2'
If I cascade it with my AMT8, Audio Midi Setup sees it without any problems,
but by connecting it via USB, there is no way that the System Profiler in
OSX recognizes it. Any suggestion?
Best regards,
Sven

Hi,
I don't think so, but I don't know it. I have about 3 m from the
first to second, and then about 30cm between the second and third
Interface. So that is not really far away.
Let us know how far and if it solves your problem as it does for me...
Regards,
Axel
