I think the only real issue is the TDM usage window being grayed out. The solution is to just buy a few more Accel cards, and don't worry about it. ;) I don't think Panther is advised for the machine you're buying. You're more likely to have issues with that. It probably won't install as the installer disks search for an appropriate build first.

Subject: [L-TDM] Sampler Location confusion
Message #22235
I'm starting to run out of disk space on my system drive and it looks like a lot of space is being taken up by samples I'm using w/ Logic. I'd like to get all my EXS samples over to an external firewire drive but I'm not sure how logic's directory structure works in reference to where it puts samples etc. I have a lot of original EXS samples and many GIGA samples that I have converted to EXS. When I've looked around my hard drive I have there places that seem to contain a combination of .wav sample files and exs instrument files and confusing to me - here are the three directories: Applications/Logic/Sampler Instruments Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments Users/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments Can anyone help me sort out the functions of these directories and how I can get Logic to see all my samples on an external drive so i can clean up my system drive. Thanks, Michael

Which brings me to this question: When I open the audio config window and scroll through all the objects I am seeing plugs instanciated that I can't find in any other environment. There seems to stuff there from old songs. Why would that happen? For example I found a TDM Aux with a plug inserted so I went looking for it in my Environment pages but couldn't find it. Any explanation for this behavior? Phil Buckle. *********************************** http://philbuckle.com/ ***********************************

Phil, As I understand it, the Audio Config window remembers the settings of your objects even after you delete them. Then if you add them to the environment again later, it brings them back with the old settings. But when they are deleted from the environment, even though they are remembered, they don't use any resources. There is a graphic indication in the Audio Config window that shows it the object exists in the environment or not, but I forgot what that is. It might be that the name is bold or has a dot or something like that. - Dave On Sep 30, 2005, at 5:21 PM, Phil Buckle wrote: > > On 01/10/2005, at 1:36 AM, logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com wrote: > > >> For mono TDM tracks, choose "Post Pan" in the sends menu, that >> should fix >> it. My 2x2.5 came with Panther, so the new machines will probably work with it. However, I wouldn't recommend it. Tiger runs faster, and that's especially noticeable in Safari, but the main thing is that developers are now using Tiger as the target. Try starting Logic with Audiodrivers disabled (Hold down Control while booting Logic) You might have "problematic" Plugins instaciated... Sometimes it is just one instance, that takes the needed Mixer-DSP when nearly maxed out Sessions are reloaded. Then go to AudioHardware and Drivers and try to start DAE from there. Helped me in numerous similar cases... HTH, Niko > > I have a problem reloading a previously saved song.
