Is a G5 Dual 2.0 > fast enough to handle that? Off-line bouncing slows down to accommodate the processing power it has available, so any machine is fast enough to handle that. That aside, yes, the 2 x 2 is plenty fast - although I'd recommend looking for an older one that can take 8GB of RAM rather than 4GB...and as a matter of fact, you can probably find a 2 x 2.5 for very little more, and it's probably worth it. Message #21914
Hi all, had something weird happen today. I normally have the mac av auxed into logic TDM mixer so I can monitor other applications- I use to be able to happily switch between applications and hear all the audio from core audio applications. Suddenly i cannot hear anything when not actually in Logic. If I switch to Logic all the core audio applications are heard fine- it is as though the core audio apps are muted when not in Logic. Why dos this happen? TIA James

Hey Fellers, So, I'm trying to figure out how to get Stylus RMX to output more than one stereo set. It would seem that it should work like BFD, with the outputs showing up in the list of input sources... I want to be able to print the Stylus tracks to audio (CoreAudio, in this case) in one pass, rather than the slow one at a time method. Am I missing something? -brian

Hi Josh, a caution here mate. I had a HD1 96io combo for ages and I've always been a logic user. HD1 and logic is a PITA due to the number of dsp slots (9 from memory) and the fact that the HD engine will take at least 1 and the ESB stream mixer will take at least 1 also. If you want a high track count then you will lose 4 dsps at least without instantiating any plugins. I defnintely recommend updating to HD2 Accel or higher. (I am HD2 accel now- I sometime run out of DSP slots) The ESB is not the most stable thing in the world. I found myself disabling the ESB after bouncing any native (like instruments) channels and importing into TDM mixer. Also, Logic TDM does not handle interleaved channels- you will use double the screen space. Spectrasonics plugins seem prone to distortions with the ESB/TDM combo also. All that aside- it all works fine- make sure you disable the Core Audio driver. jr > Hi there! > > Can I use my HD 1 card and my 96 I/O for the LOGIC PRO 7? > Cuz I'm now thinking to transfer my owrk onto Logic....but I like the HD sound..so plz let me > know asap...thanks alot! > > JOSH

You're probably also using either DTDM or CoreAudio, so you'll need to change the "DEV" setting in the Audio Window or Sample Editor. This assigns the audition path's engine. Subject: Logic 7.1 Bugs
Message #21920
I have been using Logic for a few months now, and while I am pretty much getting used to all its quirks I still notice a few things that I think are bugs. Today I was editing a project and I was trying to snip bars 2 through 4 so I set the snap menu to bars and it wouldn't let me select from beat 1 of bar 2 (or any other bar) it kept snapping to 1.4.241, 2.4.241, etc. I tried beat but it did the same thing (1.4.241, 2.1.241, etc.) I quit and restarted and no luck. Opened up a new project and it worked fine. Was there some hidden preference that I clicked by accident? Also, when ever I try to adjust the SMPTE offset it doesn't always work. It seems to work the first time I set up a project but if I try to adjust it later it doesn't work. For example I set a movie's start time so that bar 1 is 1:00:00:00. If I later want to make beat 0.4.1 the start start at 1:00:00:00 I will go to the synchronization window and try to enter it. But after I enter it will change to some seemingly arbitrary bar like 0.3.261. if I keep hitting return while the beat entry field is highlighted it seems to cycle through a series of beats (0.3.261, 1.4.261, -3.2.261). Is this a known bug? When I bought Logic, Apple had recently released 7.1. But there haven't been any bug releases since then?

As far as the sync window, it is buggy for me. Set your timecode/bar settings in the Tempo List Editor instead. Same thing, way easier. Just my 2 cents too. I was tipped off to this by a friend of mine with a large HD rig and Logic,I use it on my MIX system with logic. Instead of using ESB and DTDM purchase a Motu 828 or other fire wire audio interface with an ADAT output. Use Core audio instead of DTDM (do not use the digi core audio driver, its not necessary and unstable). Have all of your native instruments and tracks bus into your protools/Dae environment level by running out the MOTU 828 and back into the adat input of your Digi interface (you get 4 stereo buses). Altough this sounds convoluted and will involve throwing down $700 for the MOTU its worth its weight in gold for the eradication of DTDM inconsistencies and gain more DSP from your Digi cards. Try it! MATT

Seems like my sync menu timecode window remains cursor active after hitting return. So if I enter the start time and then try to click into the transport to see the results of my move, the location I selected into the transport gets entered into the bar 1 destination. Try closint the sync window immediately. MATT

Ok, here goes: Open a multichannel instance of RMX, choose your loops/sounds on different channels in RMX, go to the mixer section in RMX, choose your stereo outs from A to H in RMX. Now, create DTDM AUX's to recive from RMX multiple outs. Output A will be recieved by the DTDM instrument object you instanciated RMX on, by default. Output B through H will be represented as RMX 3-16 in your AUX's input slots. From here you can bus your AUX's to DAE inputs via the ESB bridge and record.
