It seems to be a 6.9 with added Avid compability. So no, I dont think it
would hurt. But if your not running Avid, it would be no reason to go for it
either.

Thanks.

I'm using an MH MIO.
latency is not a problem for me, I'm happy with the amount of latency
with useable settings, I occasionally might want to freeze tracks if I'm
near the end of a mix with lots of tracks and plugins, but I can usually
get by at 128 or at most 256 for the buffer size, and this sort of
latency hasn't bothered me or the session musicians that have been
working for me. The latest version of UAD-1 plugings can now be frozen
which is great.
Also, the money I made from selling my Digi hardware was very difficult
to use up
I'm keeping an open mind about TDM, but my verdict so far is in favour
of a native. If I my studio was running as a commercial studio I might
think otherwise, but as its a private composer studio I can take the
risk of trying things out, and so far like it it, especially pleased not
to have to deal with DTDM.

Yes. I'm on 10.3.8/PT6.9/LP7.1 and doing it.
If you have a full retail - white key, your authorized.
If you uppgraded from LAP6 to LP7 you are not authorized
The Emagic HTDM enabler is discontinued but can still be downladed on the
old emagic download page.
I have heard stories about people who bought HTDM Enabler before it was
discontinued sucessfully getting authorization codes from apple, but these
are just stories. I don't know if it's really true.
It's a little wierd how you go about it but here goes:
There are two ways.
1. The same procedure as with Virus/Indigo. Create: New-Instrument-Name
"EVB3"-select an EVB3 on a stereo aux-In the newly created
instruments
parameter box select EVB3 in the "port" segment. Now go to your
arrange page
and select a new track: It's right there under Midi instr. -EVB3. Now the
midi is in input on that track and the audio is on output on your strereo
aux.
You will only find EVB3 and EVD6 on stereo auxes so you might wonder - where
is ES1, ES2, EVP88 etc.? Well, they are located on a mono aux withe the
selection of mono->stereo! There you will find them all. And that leads
me
to the second way of configuring this:
2. On a mono aux-mono->stereo select any of the HTDM instruments. In the
arrangement page, just select that aux and play! Easy as pie! (eh..)
Now why did I even bother with two options since the second one is plug
&
play?
Well, it's not rock solid. In the second option midi sometimes drops out,
very shortly. Especially if you play a fast section.
The first option is more work but steadyer.
Good Luck,
Erik

Hey Erik,
Trying rebuild AGAIN. Damn DTDM distortion.
Can you tell me your HD Playback engine settings?

I haven¹t heard ESB distortion for a while.
When does it happen what kinds of DTDM tracks/instruments? What is
your
set-up software versions, etc?

I have to restart 3 or four times a day for DTDM distorts.
Usually all sessions contain 20 exs, 1 Atmosphere, Absynth3,a few
Logic insts, usually don't use DTDM audio tracks. But the more
instruments I add, the more frequent the problem. Particularly if I
add a second Atmosphere, all goes to hell, every time.
All instruments are up to date, all validated, use Cocktail daily
(the program and the liquid).

I just make sure they reflect my Hardware situation, and then I keep the
track-count as low as my projects permit. That way I reserve power to mixer
objects and plugs.
So in my case, PTHD3 accel:
HW buffer: 256
CPU Usage Limit: 60-75% (to allow room for Logic+Reason, I'm going to
experiment some more with this...)
Number Of Voices: 48 Voices (3 DSP's) (I'm really comitted to keep my
trackcount down these days. After all, the greatest recordings I know were
done on 8-tracks! ;-)
Delay Compansation: None (AFAIK Logic does not support it)
But seriously, I think your ditortions are due to your AU's. Both
Spectrasonics and NI's have a history of troubles with Logic.
You sure you have the latest versions? Have you tried taking them out, then
adding one by one?

Upgraded to OS10.3.8 and Logic 7.01 and am gettin strange midi / unitor 8
Alert message and behavior. I load an old logic 6 song and get the
mesgsage" Instrument P200 (my controller) sends to a MIDI Port named
"Port

check if all midi
interfaces are connected and switched on otherwise adjust the instruments

I've blown away my prefs, repaired permissions, blew away midi audio/midi
prefs (com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist) and nothing seems to help. It
seems to be having a problem w/ Unitor 8 - maybre the driver? I can't see
where to get Unitor driver infor for my system.
Once I click OK on this message (I get a series of these messages for each
midi instrument I've set up, then the song loads and I am getting a strang
midi
results when I play from the controller. The playback of a sequence seems to
work fine, but when I select an instrument, and play it from the keyboard
(tried
2 different controllers as well), there is always a delay on the first note,
then it
seems to work OK.
Obviously somethings out of wack. Any thoughts?

seems to be helping the odd behaviour LP7 has introduced.

Eric - thanks for the link and info about the new driver - i did find that
and
installed it last night but didn't seem to help this problem- does anyone
know
the actual name or location of this Unitor driver after it is installed??,
maybe i
need to delete it and re-install again. how do i confirm which driver i'm
using?
John - there is a unitor 8 icon showing up in my os audio/midi setup - one
thing i noticed... when I open the unitor icon, and look in the PORTS
section, -
there are 8 ports showing, but for each port the connector section shows
IN-1,
OUT-1 and I can't change that for any of the ports. Is that right?? Also, I
can't
see any of the PROPERTIES of the Unitor because I get a message that says
"Properties can not be edited on MIDI interfaces." I also tried to
delete the
unitor icon from the main page of the audio/midi setup and I can't.
Finally, I created a "New Configuration" in the audio/midi setup-
called it
TEST and when I select OK, it takes a few minutes - searching my system -
and then comes up with 3 icons - Unitor 8, a keyboard with a "?"
on it that is
not connected to the unitor and a greyed-out IAC Driver icon. If I try to
select a
device manufacturer or model for the keyboard icon, the options are grey-ed
out. So the scan is not seeing my controller (a CME UF8) I guess. If I I
select
"add a device" then a "new external device'" is created,
which I can connect to
the unitor with the virtual cable - and when I "Test Setup" and
play my
controller, I can see that the Unitor is getting a signal from the
controller. Alas,
when I load logic I have get the same error. Also, when I go to the midi
page
of the enviroment and look at the midi instruments I have created and check
thier ports, I see the following ports available: Port 1 (Unitor8), Port 2
(Unitor8), Port 3 (Unitor3) ... upto Port 8 (Unitor8). So I'm baffled! as it
seems
like logic is seeing the unitor, and yet it says it does not exuist.
one final note - any dtdm virtual instruments that i creat, are working,
except
for the response delay i mentioned before, so somehow midi is being
communicated thru the unitor it seems.
any other thoughts?
thanks,
mt

Hi MT,
I have the same problem you do. It doesn´t seem like anybody at Apple
or Emagic has adressed it (thanx again Erik and everybody else for
all the input and advice!). The upside of things is at least my AMT8
still seems to work just like before except for the seriously
annoying messages (just be sure to uncheck the "show this message
again" or similar, it gives you the same message for every MIDI port).
> there is always a delay on the first note, then it seems to work OK.
I believe It has to do with the size of our sound libraries. In order
for us to have access to well over what we have in RAM the computer
loads the first part of the sound in the cache memory to allow
immediate access. Once that´s done it works just as flawlessly as the
MIDI interface, at least for me.
Sorry I can´t help you solve this one, at least not for now. But it
might be comforting that this is not really a big problem, more like
a pain in the butt.
Allt the best

Yes, I¹m on 6.9 logic 7.1, dual 1G, 1.5 G Ram, OS X 10.3.8
I have no distortion on ESB, but I have not been using third party AU
plugins. So I guess those are the likely culprets.
Have you tried updating them all to the most recent versions or asking their

Has anyone noticed that when you bounce a mix out of 7.1 it seems a
little slower than the sequence. I don't know if it's my imagination,
but my mixes seem slighter slower than what i hear when I'm playing the
sequence.
JS

That seems very unlikely.
You can check it by adding the bounce file to your arrange page.
It should be exactly the same length as the locate cycle you bounced.
If it¹s been slowed, it would result in a longer region.

I've never known this to happen. Just re-import the bounced
file back into Logic and compare it to the prebounced data.
I've never known it not to be identical.
Is it also lower in pitch?
Perhaps you're bouncing a 48KHz file and then burning it
directly onto a CD-DA without conversion, in which case
it plays back about 1.5 semitones lower (and slower of course).

(6.9DAE/7.1/10.3.8) and I'm getting the exact same results at least
twice a day under pretty good (extreme) use. And, it's very
annoying, I agree, that you have to step your way through EACH and
EVERY MIDI device (and for me, that's over 50 of them in my racks and
key stacks!!!!) ...I found the best way is to give it the Mac three-
finger salut and just force-quit. But, quiting and starting LP7 up
again, alone, doesn't fix the problem (for me, anyway)...I find that
I have to (get this!) cycle (turn off, then on again) each of my
Unitor 8/AMT 8s, plus all my Mackie MCU/XT/C4s, and THEN reboot LP7,
and everything's fine.
It's annoying, but thankfully, not as often as some people are
getting it. I know this is a new thread on here, but I have heard
from at least 10 other people who have this version combo that it's
happening like crazy.
Hopefully the next version will clear this up.

Logic 7/OSX 10.3.4/MIX PLUS/G4DP1.25
Whenever i try to use Autotune in audiosuite, i get a message referring
to a midi port no longer being used. I have to uncheck the 'display
this message again" box and then I get one more window (same thing) and
then i get into Auto tune to do my destructive tuning job, and the same
2 windows open again on the way back out of audiosuite.
It's so time consuming to have to perform these steps each time. Any
suggestions?
What does Autotune have to do with MIDI anyway?
Thanks
Greg
Hi Jan,
when I master/ mix, for some reason i have a heightened sense of
perception, often forcing me to redo the bounce/mix several times.
When I reach this state of mind my concept of time often changes a bit.
Could what you experience be something similar?
Best
