I would leave it there, it should do anything in terms of performance or disk errors. It probably defaults to -3db, cause this is the closest to TDM 's Pan Law, which is -2,5db, So this way you'll have almost the same behaviour for DAE Tracks (-2,5 fixed) and for Native (-3, changeable from within Logic) Good to hear, that you found out, that Norton was causing your problems, getting rid of it will also help you to avoid a lot of other problems. AFAIR, Norton stopped development of their tools for Macs (or at least for the new Tiger) Louis

Thanks again for the heads up. last night I successfully ran Logic 7.1 in OS X 10.3.8 with the DAE and ESB for almost 2 hours straight (then I got tired and stopped working) on a dual 2 G5. It was flawless and IMHO worked as good if not better than I remember from the Logic 6 days. (of course I have a short memory) It seems the trick to the success was in pulling all the Spectrasonics plug-ins. In this case it was Atmosphere, Trilogy and Stylus. After this it was smooth sailing, I was even using BFD and Guitar Rig as AU on the DTDM side without a single hitch. And... I actually had fun not crashing Logic. Was a beautiful thing. All the other soft synths seem to work just fine. Korg, GMedia, Native instruments, Yellow Tools, I should also mention the only BFD plug-in I loaded was the Stereo one. I disabled the other 2. BTW, if you don't know about AudioUnit Manager from Granted Software, you need to go get this immediately. I need to do more testing with the Spectrasonics stuff. i really love Stylus RMX. I think the main culprit was Atmosphere, followed by Trilogy, or perhaps it was using more than one spectrasonic plug-in at a time, or in conjunction with BFD. (as per your post yesterday) Versions are OS X 10.3.8 Logic 7.01 GR - I'm not entirely sure. I think it was the 1.2 fuzz update, but not the 1.2 version released last week. PT 6.7cs8 In logic, on a Mono DAE Track, I choose the Mono to Stereo Gtr Rig. Try deleting the tuner from the Gtr Rig signal path. After I did GR worked fine. good to know yours is running well. Atmosphere performed better when I put it's .dat file on an Sata drive (instead of firewire).Atmo wasn't crashing the system as much as lots of popping & clicking. Better now. Don't know your drive setup, but that worked for me. Cool, it's worth a try. I had moved the .dat files off of a firewire as well, but I placed them in the Plug-ins folder on the internal drive. Figured that would be the most direct fast access. We'll try moving them to the Raptor and see if that helps. thanks. b. On Feb 25, 2005, at 12:25 PM, ativity2003 wrote: > > > good to know yours is running well. Hi folks, Recenty, as I've mentioned, Im running BFD drums out of the macs stereo output and its too noisy. When I run Core Audio the Mac lets me select "Digi hardware" for the output but I get no sound at all. Shouldn't I be able to assign output channels of the 192 to coreaudio and ghear sound at the output? Thanks, Lon

No Logic can¹t use the Digi outputs when DAE is using them. You need to use ESB / DTDM to transfer the native output. Yes, you should, but not while the DAE is active in Pro Tools or Logic. if you were to run BFD as a stand-alone, then yes, it should come out of the 192. I'm not completely familiar with the BFD Prefs, but the NI Standalone stuff has preferences where you can select the output. Does this help? B. Subject: Authorize Waves Gold for AU or Tdm (iLok)?
Message #19817
Finally getting around to installing some plug-ins. I just upgraded to Waves Gold 5.0 (TDM version). According to the Waves FAQ, this version will work either as a native plug in (I downloaded the latest AU 5.0.1 waveshell), or with DAE (via iLok authorization, I assume). What's the best choice here--is it either/ or, or can I actually authorize Waves for both hosts? Waves claims no sonic difference. Any input would be helpful. Thanks--jsdog22

The install pretty much does everything at once. You get AU, TDM, VST and RTAS all installed at once. As a side note I find that Ableton Live 3 doesn't care much for the VST Waveshell though, so I usually move that out of my VST folder. Subject: Coreaudio and digi hardware
Message #19819
If I select the digi 192 as the interface I can get coreaudio to output over that hardware. However it will not play any other TDM tracks I've selected. is this right? I cannot have coreaudio and TDM working over the 192 simultaneously?

If you are able to use Waves Gold TDM in both Native and TDM, please let me know - I'd like to do the same. My waves gold only shows up in the TDM side, not the native. To get it to show up in native you only have to run the gold installer. But, since you are probably referring to not seeing the AU versions perhaps you have the olde AU Waveshell isntalled, go download the Waveshell AU 5.0.1. After installing you should then see the native waves plug ins. B. Hi Bob, I did as you suggested, and voila! Thanks for that tip, and this forum. i didn' t even know it was possible to use the Waves Gold TDM in the native area, and my soft synths and native Inst will love those plug ins. Subject: Green Apple loops are supposed to open original instrument with MIDI file
Message #19823
Hi, In the manual, Logic 7 users are told that if you drag a green apple loop to an empty instrument, it will open the instrument associated with that loop as well as EQ and other settings. It's a brilliant concept, except on my system it opens the EXS24 with only the test tone loaded. Can anyone help? Thanks Greg DP G4 1.25/Logic7/TDM-MIX PLUS/OXS Panther

In particular, make sure you have a "Garageband" entry in your EXS24 list of instruments. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat>

The EXS instruments it uses are the ones in the Garageband library. Those are in the Logic installer somewhere but maybe you did not install them. * Dave On 2/25/05 6:02 PM, "GC" <greg@...> wrote: > > > Hi, > > In the manual, Logic 7 users are told that if you drag a green apple loop to > an empty > instrument, it will open the instrument associated with that loop as well as > EQ and other > settings.
