Hi f-erenc -
Here is an idea you could try: de-activate the DAE driver, re-launch logic
with DTDM only, check the loop browser and see if it works then. If yes,
you could then re-active the DAE driver and it might retain the corrected
audition setting.

Are you reading my mind, Dave :-) ? I was just going to post the same
advise... Telepathy :-) ? Or just a Logical :-) thought of 2 more or
less experienced people :-) ? And F-erenc, I know you're one of the
most experienced here, so I'm 100% sure you'll sort it sooner or
later, can you then tell us the cause of your unique problem?

I tried this and various combinations of this.
Nothing worked.

f-erenc, there are some question marks that needs to be straightened...
I'm sure you've tried this, but;
When you drop an apple loop on a DTDM track, does it play back as it's
supposed to?
After you dropped the loop on a track and open the sample editor, can
you then audition the loop through DTDM via the sample editor?
If you now listen to the loop browser, does it still play back through DAE?
What happens with the loop browser auditioning if you change device
to DAE in the sample editor? (Just change it, don't audition, it will
switch back to DTDM if you do)
Clearly, this is a bug, but I'm curious if there's a way to
work around it, and maybe solve your problem...
(hope emagic/apple support is monitoring this!)

Hi,
perhaps I can. I had this error message a few days ago, too. I've just
installed the whole system before. The problem was, that I clicked in
the Logic-Setup-Assistent I want to use DTDM and NO CoreAudio. If you
have this activated (no coreaudio), this message (and very much others)
is shown by using CoreAudio (instead of DTDM) in Logic.
Don't know if you have done the same mistake, but you should perhaps
just start the setup assistent one more time and be care full about the
settings, at the audio dialogue.

Just installed a second Mix farm card to my modest MixPlus system. 5.01.
I have tons of work from my old set up and now with this other card
my plugins seem to be not connecting correctly.
EG. the name of the selected plug in does not represent the actual plug in.
Are there plug ins that may not be compatible with this newer version
Mix Farm Card?
If so, Is there a way around this?
Thanks,

Has anyone had any success with the 'Detect Cuts' function in the video
track? Cuts do not
appear in the Beat Mapping track as described in the manual.
Joe
I am using the DTDM driver alongside DAE in Logic 7 with HD and am
still having a few of the usual problems.
Since I only ever really use the main stereo out via ESB into the TDM
mixer, I was wondering if there would be any advantage to ditching this
configuration and moving to Core Audio / DAE.
Could I take the optical out from my G5 and run this into a 96 i/o and
so create a similar setup but with core audio doing all the native
stuff?
If this is possible, does anyone else work like this and, if so, is it
any better?
Cheers,
Ian
I remember reading about issues when extending the right end of an audio
region to meet
the left of another, so sorry if I'm not up to date.
No matter how I tweak the settings in Snap & Drag I can't seem to get a
visual of my left
region when I drag that over my right. I'ts allway placed
"underneeth"!? I have to place the
region on another track to see it!
What am I missing here? Is there no way to ghange this?
Thankful for input!

OK, everybody, here's the $60,000 question--
You're using Logic as a front-end for TDM hardware (running DAE, not
CoreAudio). You have a stereo recording you want to play through DAE. You
want to process it using stereo TDM plugs. You also want to pan the tracks
some way other than hard left and right.
I'm curious how other people solve this, because the only way I can think of
to
do it is to create a separate stereo aux track and run the channels through
that. Sorry if this is old territory for some of you, but it seems there
should be a
better way than taking 3 tracks in Arrange and Mixer just to do this for one
musical part.
I'm running Logic 6.4.3 through an HD2 system on a Mac SP1.25.
Does anybody know if there is a TDM utility plug for OSX that lets you do
channel-swapping and independent panning for each side? There was one
for OS9 called "Widgets", but I haven't seen an update to OSX.
I think I can channel-swap and adjust the image width using Waves S1
Shuffler, but I'm hoping there's a better solution that is less chip-hungry.
Any suggestions? Thanks--
Kevin
This behavior appeared with logic 7. It¹s not only when extending the
left
corner, it¹s whenever regions overlap, only the later region is visible
on
top, no matter what selection method is used with audio and with midi
regions. It¹s a new bug. I have not found any workaround other than
making
another track for the overlapped objects. The Œselect overlap¹ command
doesn¹t even help with it.
I have a whole list of new bugs that came with Logic 7. I¹m on a
deadline &
haven¹t had a chance to post them yet the list grows every time I
do
another session, it¹s truly amazing! So far bugs are not stopping me
from
working, though they are a hassle, so overall Logic 7 is an improvement from
earlier versions which crashed very often.
Anyway, back to your question you¹ll need to use extra tracks to
do what
you want. If you find a better solution, please let us kow!

Hey Modo,
Search this site for related posts. I know the answer to your problem is in
here somewhere. I've never had this problem but I remember reading about it
and the sollution. Something about a bug causing logic to be
"stuck" in
off-line mode. I think you have to go to a DTDM object and press bounce and
then de-select the offline mode. Something like that, but search for a more
detailed post!
Good Luck!

No, I¹m not getting used to this hassle! Overlapping regions has been a
feature of Logic since the beginning. I hope Apple considers it a bug and
not something they did intentionally. It¹s causes wasted screen space
and
extra mousing around.

Click on the BNCE button of a native output (Core Audio
or DTDM) and then once you're in the native Bounce
dialogue box, switch from Offline to Realtime bounce
mode. Then try your DAE bounce.
L7.0.0 gets "stuck" in Offline mode which of course doesn't
work with DAE.

Hi Erik, thanks for responding. The problem with using two mono channels is
then you can't use stereo plug-ins to process the sound unless you send
the output of those two mono channels to a stereo aux channel, then process
that. So you're using all this extra real estate on your mixer. OK, I'm glad
I
can do it, but I'm curious what other workarounds people have found.

There are a few plugins which allow you to alter stereo width - I think
Waves do one and Logic has one in the helper menu somewhere....

Hi all,
I know this has been a topic over the last months. Is the quality OK for ESB
since L7 or is there still a quality loss in ESB in comparision to ESB on
OS9?
I would be glad for short messages about that,
Matthias.
Matthias Frank <frank@...> writes:

On more than one OSX/TDM rig I can't get ESB to work
properly. So I've advocated that DTDM is avoided and
CoreAudio is used instead. This means buying another
soundcard perhaps, but the performance is much better.
Even when the Mac's internal soundcard is used (via CoreAudio),
I get much better performance. Again, this is not a one-shot
phenomenon. I've encountered it again and again on different
TDM rigs (G4, G5).
OS9 works perfectly fine however.

Hello, I use Pro Tools MixPlus with DAE 5.1.1 and Logic 4.8 Mac Os
9.2.2 G4 (Dual 800
Mhz).
When I use heavy plug-ins (like Lexiverb or waves) I cannot fill the
entire DSP and after
7 or 8 plug ins I see the message "-7204 TDM Maxed Out" but the
Allocator application
show that 4 or 5 chips are still free.
This don't happen with small plug ins like Digidesign 4-Band Eq.
This don't happen with Pro Tools software.
I have 150 Mb of RAM assigned to DAE and 150 to Logic.
Any solutions for this problem?
Thanks
