I actually liked the program so much that i set up a pc just to run BFD. I could never get it to work on my Mac. I use logic on my mac and an HD3 and treat the pc running bfd as just another tone module. All sequencing done in Logic. I am also on a g4 so i would be concerned about cpu limits running bfd. heavy streaming from hard drive eats up pci bandwith. separate box ... no problem. good luck MP --- In logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com, Daniel Fattorini <daniel.fattorini@n...> wrote: . Thanks Marty, but that doesn't do the trick either. But I know the solution is something as simple as that . . . but what?!? Here's what's weird and makes me think I may be an idiot. My internet computer is also a Dual 1.25 G4, but this one is System 10.3.4 rather than 10.3.2. And I'm having the same problem! The Energy Saver panel just ain't that complicated that I could be setting it wrong . . . or am I? This is an odd request, but could someone with a mirror door Dual 1.25Ghz G4 running Panther please confirm that they get their computer to stay out of sleep mode? That way I'll know that it really is an error on my end, rather than some known G4 issue., sort of like Logic's "Wait for Note" button that's never worked. Hi - I am using BFD with Logic and it¹s working fine. Sounds really great, better than any drum sampler I¹ve used so far. It does take some resources so I need to print the tracks sometimes, but the sound is closer than real drums than I¹ve found elsewhere. I installed it per instructions and it was fine out of the box. I¹m using PT 6.4, Logic 6.4.1, OS X 10.3.4, dual G4 1G, 1.5G RAM, 2 external firewire drives one for audio, one for sample libraries. * Dave On 8/27/04 8:23 AM, "logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com" <logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com> wrote: > Message: 9 > Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 22:44:33 EDT > From: Spiritpathpress@... > Subject: BFD > > Does anyonne have BFD drums working in logic? All the suggestions people offered are analog out (I think). So you are still at the mercy of whatever your A/D converter is. Has anyone tried, say, the Apogee Rosetta which outputs digital (and can serve as a clock master)? Michael A. Levine

Funny enough Michael... I have a rosetta 800 on order! unfortunatly the rosetta does not have a mic preamp and therefore my hunt for a good preamp... and actually since I also need a compressor I think i have narrowed my choices to the Universal Audio 6176, Avalon 737 or a millennia STT-1... all around the 2000+ mark... --- In logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com, Michael Levine <mlmusic@e...> wrote: > All the suggestions people offered are analog out (I think). I recently tested the Focusrite ISA 430 mkII - very nice, has some extra features compared to the mkI (variable impedance, 2 types of compression using different circuits, the ability to blend uncompressed with compressed signal as on the 220). My advice would be to check that unit too. The original (mkI) or the more basic ISA220 are not bad at all too, if you find a mkI you should be able to get a really good deal on it. Also (I'm starting to sound like a Focusrite advocate here but just want to add to the models you mention): Depending on your needs, the Focusrite Liquid Channel might be an option too. It is good; I A-B'ed it with some of the original units it emulates and especially the compressor emulations were oftentimes identical to the original. The preamp is very good too; pre-amp emulations are not always as accurate as the compressor emulations I tested but very useful too. And if you'd want to go below the e2000 mark - the TL Audio Classic series units have nice preamps built-in. The EQ-2 stereo EQ or C1 stereo compressor for instance can be used that way. I have a (discontinued) EQ-1 that I often use as a preamp, it's a hybrid valve/solid state design. The C1 would basically give you a great stereo compressor with nice preamps as a bonus. If you're looking primarily for a preamp it's not the most obvious choice but in case you were planning on buying a compressor also, you might consider it. hth, Ivo > Funny enough Michael... Trying to make an orchestral autoload and got up to about a dozen TDM EXS24 instantiations before getting the "TDM is probably maxed out" message. TDM usage meter showed a zillion empty chips so I'm assuming EXS24 under TDM is some sort of non-standard clip-on. Or am I doing something wrong? Ian ------------------------------ Ian G. At one point do you get stuck with the song opening? TDM or watch cursor? You can try taking out plug ins (out of the plug in folder) to get past this (EXS included). Then copy the raw midi data into new autoload and restart logic with full plug in folder. HTH Brio > Worked yesterday for a half day on a demo. I use a mdf box, large enough for a computer and a couple of harddisks, with a door that locks with a small hatch at the front. Backpanel can easily be removed too with some hatches, cabling goes out at the downside of the backpanel, isolated by some foam. Works OK for me, easy to build, only thing is - you need some sort of ventilation otherwise it gets too hot in there. Problem with ventilation is that sounds tends to come through as well. I created an air inlet by drilling holes in the floorpanel and mounting the floorpanel about 5 mm above the floor (so the box rests on the side panels). This way it sucks up cold air from beneath, not much noise comes out that way. Air goes out on the upper side of the back panel (it's hot, so it goes up all by itself) via a double shaft with damping materials in it (the air has to travel 'around a corner' through a pad with dampening stuff). This also reduces noise considerably. I guess you could improve on this by using a (preferably large, slow turning) fan to speed the airflow. On hot days, I fear it still gets a little too hot in there sometimes; easy solution is to open the door of the box for a while and close it when you're doing critical mixing... Once airco is installed in the studio that will be history too. Took me a couple of hours and some 60 euros on mdf board. If you put some work on it, it can look pretty neat. regards, Ivo > "timothynold" <timothynold@...> writes: >> IsoRaxx by Raxxess. Subject: Logic/Quicktime problem
Message #17247
Hi all, Just installed my new system. G5 2.5 (OSX 10.3.4) (4.5 gig ram) HD3, Logic 6.4.2. Everything seems to be working fine (even ESB so far...) with one exception: When I open a Quicktime movie and then try to record audio on a DAE track strange things happen... as Logic is recording the wave is being drawn properly, it looks like everything is working fine untill I stop recording, then the wave turns into a flat line with about 2 sec of audio at the end of the wave file. When I try to play this everything goes crazy. The audio chunk at the end ends up looping itself and you hear audio after the wave ends. When I close the movie same thing happens. I have to quit & reboot. There's no problem playing back audio already recorded with a Quicktime movie, you just can't record with it open. I called Logic tech support, they asked me to try all the usual things (trashing prefs) no luck, they were stumped. Anybody out there using a similar system that's able to record audio while having a movie open? By the way, I'm using the latest version of Quicktime with the Canopus ADVC100. Thanks Ed A.

One instance of EXS was taking about fifteen minutes to look for the samples it was loading and not finding them. I am curious about this. I had originally loaded a xylophone from the VSL library. When I reopen the file, it is trying to load a different file (also called xylophone) from an old samplecell bank on the same drive and can't find the samples. I then reloaded the correct "xylophone" and saved it to a different location, but the problem still kept happening until I renamed the file and saved it somewhere else. I am using EXS Manager Pro, but may in fact have something screwed up for this to be happening. Can EXS not differentiate between different instruments with the same name on the same hard drive? -mark Mark Henderson mark@... 952.210.4801

Subject: Logic won't quit-error
Message #17249
I've been having this problem constantly in OS 10.2.8 and now on a seperate system in Panther. When quitting Logic I get a DTDM error and have to force quit...every time! This has been going on forever and is frustrating because Logic has no command to save prefs, so they don't get saved. This causes havoc in the Project Manager as no updates are written. I can disable the DTDM driver and Logic will quit normally. Is no one else having this problem? 2 systems now do it, both using ESB and Logic 6.4.2, PT 6.2.x: G4 867 HD3, and G4 DP 1.25 Mix3 help, anyone?

Hi Ed, I assume you are sending out the firewire port to your Canopus. If so....try disable firewire port and work internally with a thumb-nail screen on your desktop. I have a DAC 100 convertor box but this seemed to work better for me if I was track laying, then on playback i send it back down firewire port. Check it out....let me know how you go. Marty.
