Obviously you do not understand the Powerkeys concept.
in the Logic Keyboard you only have one or 2 functions per key.
In Powerkeys you get up to 5 functions per key (in some keys).
The design of Powerkeys is like having 5 keyboards in one depending
which modifier you use.
Who is the inefficient??

For your information the Logickeyboard uses the same keyboard (ikey
from macally)
The bottom labels fit well in my keyboard. Maybe you install them
incorrectly.

They have an update for Logic 6.x since long time ago were all the
new automation, grouping and hiding features are included in very
easy keystrokes.

Again, all the keys are used in the Powerkeys Keycommands. Not only
the Fkeys but the Qwerty keyboard as well. And the concept that
applies to the F keys applies to the Qwerty keys as well carefully
organized per layer and so they are easy to remember (S-solo, R-
Replace, etc)
Emagic actually used the Powerkeys 80% of the powerkeys keys for
Logic's default keycommands since 4.x.
Maybe the Logic Keyboard adapts better to your way of working, which
is ok, but the Powerkeys keycommands is designed for power users that
want to take full advantage of the program and goes much deeper
because it addresses every part of the program (midi, editing, audio,
score) while the Logickeyboard address just the basics...

Hi,
Is there a way to use a DTDM plug-in (i.e. Space Designer) on an Input
Object track which is set to DAE? I have the Input Object bringing in
audio from a midi instrument. Setting the Input Object to DTDM doesn't
work and I don't know a successful way to route the Input Object to a
DTDM object so it's plugs will work.
Setting my Outputs to DTDM also doesn't seem to receive the Input
Objects output. Can this be done short of bouncing the midi track
(which I'd like to avoid) and working with it as an audio track?
Thanks,
Cobb

Daniel, you're simply misinformed about LogicKeyboard keys having
just one or two functions per key. They have MUCH more. Two functions
are labeled per key (on the top and side of the key), but with
modifiers (like PowerKeys), individual keys have up to *eight*
functions as opposed to five for PowerKeys.
For instance, the "9" key, color coded purple is:
9: Link Window (same level)
9 + ctrl: Create Marker
9 + shift: Create Marker without rounding
9 + Command: Delete Marker
9 + option: Open Marker List
9 + ctrl + option: Open Marker List as float
9 + ctrl + shift: Open Marker Text
9 + ctrl + option + Command: Open Marker Text as Float
If you actually get to check out a LogicKeyboard sometime, you might
be amazed. It's a very deeply engineered product, and the people who
devised it obviously put a lot of thought into it. For most of us, if
we can assimilate the two functions actually printed on each key,
we'll really increase our efficiency. For the power user, however,
the sky's the limit with the LogicKeyboard. Many more functions are
mapped to keys than with PowerKeys, and the organization is very
logical - especially with the color coding.
Personally, I really like and need the reminders and color coding on
the keys. I've used many different key command sets with various
applications over the years, and it's all still in my brain. The
color coding boosts speed and confidence. It's also nice that where
possible, LogicKeyboard adheres to key assignments that seem to be
industry standards (like "3" for record rather than the
"*" key in
PowerKeys).

>from macally)
Wrong again. I have one right in front of me, and it's a standard
Apple USB keyboard from Apple.

When I installed the PowerKeys labels on my Macally iKey, I had to
make extra cuts on the labels that fit below the space bar (that
bulges out) and paste them on at an angle. The overlay was definitely
not designed for the iKey.

That is why DP has "save as" previous versions
It is however a pain to open a session to resave as an older one......
but at least the options are there to do it

I think you're right, it's not the drivers, but disabling DTDM will
allow me to get the plugin out of there. I believe it's the EXS
instrument setting.
I'm curious, since you're also having the problem, what versions of
Logic and Mac OSX are you using?
I don't know of any fixes, but I too have these two problems. For me, I get
away
with just reinstantiating ESB on one channel and then resetting the Direct
Connect outputs.
As for the Klop-clik I just have to change it's ESB output to another out
then
back to what I had to get it going again. Both of these things are real
buzz-kills
especially when I have a room full of musicians.

I am having a horrible time moving a section without losing the
automation... I tried
the splice:insert snipped part as SPL... but the automation is not carried
over to the
next part...
basically I want to copy the first chorus (bar 9-16), with all the
automation to bar
32... any simple way of doing this without losing the automation?
r.
No. :-(
Sometimes it works, but mostly not.
The same chaos happens when you change tempi after having automation
written.
You could try editing the automation folder...

one way we found... is to pack entire section into folder, copy folder to
location
desired, then upack folder... seems to maintain all automation...

Are many people using PT 6.4 with Logic Pro yet? Does it seem more or
less stable than PT 6.2.3? Are any of the various cs releases of 6.4
better or worse for use with Logic?
Lee Blaske
Just noticed this, and I wonder if anyone else knows what it's about.
In the Logic prefs, when you set up the voices/dsp to be used with
Logic, there are two choices for 128 voices/4 DSP chips. I just
experimented with the second, and upon relaunching Logic, I got a
message that DAE required 73 MB, and that I needed to reboot the
computer.
Anyone know what the difference between the two 128 voice 4 DSP
options might be? Could this be an Accel thing?
Lee Blaske
I'm more stable.

Jan, you're the one brave soul I've seen post about this. I guess I'm
going to have to be number two, and try harder.
Lee Blaske
Lee,
I've had a chance to push it pretty hard in the last 2 weeks as far as
recording audio is concerned and it's pretty solid. I was having plenty
of 9060 errors and "Try to Save Your Song" stuff, now they are few
and
far between - ( still crossing my fingers ) . I do not have ESB issues,
but I only run 5-8 instances of ESX and only one or two soft synths. I
find the automation to be fairly reliable - good enough and easy work
arounds. My plug in settings are now coming up as saved. I'm much
happier now and I assume it will hold.

PT 6.4, Logic 6.3.3 ( I have all of the Logic Plugs including Space
Designer, so I guess it's really Logic Pro) Dual 1.25, OSX 10.3.2

Hey Lee,
I think it's fairly more stable for me. At least it's not worse than the cs2
I used before.
I seem to have less crashes nowadays, my ESB issues are still there though.
It's funny but it seems like my system is happier with the CoreAudio 6.5
too. I don't understand what it could do for the LP/PT thing.
Cheers,

It Disconnects Also with earlier version on OSX
Sometimes it doesn't disconnect and starts to crunch everything, and
there's no way to make it work again until you have restarted the
application (i've tried also removing and relaunching DTDM from
audio-hardware)
It happens usually when i use reaktor with some heavy instruments...
It Happens Also when i have lot of EXS24 on TDM mixer, maybe it uses
the same routines as DTDM (as it was on logic on OS9,Direct
connect)....
Hi All, i'm really pissed off about it, and you (users) can do
nothing except sending some e-mails to support@... asking the
same thing i'm asking right now...
I own reaktor and kontakt, all OSX NI Stuff are HTDM, is 1 year i
waiting sirs from emagic to add support for them, you can plug-in on
tdm mixer but you do not have the ability to control them because no
input is created on the midi input list..
It is so difficult to add it? what the hell!!!!
I've bought logic pro only for updates, i have already esx-esb-
evoc20 and es2 so this payed update brings me NOTHING NEW (yeah
space designer, but is useless until is htdm)
You have done 1 update since last year, and honestly is changed
fuckin nothing, same crashes, same bugs....
WAKE Uuuppppp
I DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR NEW POLICY, IF YOU WANT US TO CONTINUE BUYING
YOUR STUFF YOU HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE US THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON IT.
Anyway, ADD SUPPORT FOR NI STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (so i can buy the NI
KOMPLETE)
Bye! ;)

Host TDM is the most stupid thing emagic has did, i've tried it
(os9) and you can't plug ES2 and other stuff on TDM mixer in LOGIC,
but ONLY IN PRO-TOOLS
SO STUPID!!!! lol
You´re kidding, no?

No, unfortunately i'm not joking, i was interested on both
discontinued products HostTDM and EPIC, so i've tried them on OS9,
The EPIC was good but later i hear the price (900€ for some plugs
that i already have? WTF!!!) and i've gived up, The Host TDM works
fine in pro-tools, but inside logic it's totally useless, i will
never understand them....
I am using Mac OSX 1.2.8 and Logic 6.3.3.....
I cant even open the song to find the problem...it is really upsetting
because the song that is
corrupt is one of my favorites...and i really want to finish it.....
im just using the core audio driver...so i cant disable the DTDM to get it
to open...
im kinda screwed......
ive brought it into work before...and opened it here..and re-saved
it......and then opened it
at home.....
do you have any suggestions?
Im still not sure what plugins and stuff to get rid of.... i need my EXS
sampler though, cause that the is bulk of the song....any other stuff i can
delete?
Thanks,
Peter

Do your Emagic synth plug-in stuff using ESB (or a third party card
as some people are now doing). If you want to bring things over to
mix on the TDM side, Freeze the tracks (offline bounce in 24 bits)
and drag them over to TDM tracks.
So simple.

There are also AU versions of the NI plug-ins. Have you tried those?
Lee Blaske
Just thought I'd mention this, in case anyone else runs into a
similar situation...
I ran into a spate of crashing with Logic 6.4.1 and PT 6.2.3, usually
upon opening a second song (not concurrently) after launching Logic.
I did the usual Logic and Digidesign prefs trashing and rebuilding,
but the problem was still there. What fixed the problem was changing
the Audio Engine set-up from PT. I switched to a different voice
count than I normally use, then switched back, and now everything is
stable once again.
I think there might be something a little funky in the Audio Prefs in
Logic with regard to voice count/dsp chips used. I think it's
possible that some of the choices are not valid (as I mentioned in an
earlier post, there are two 128 voice/4 dsp options).
My speculation is that setting up the playback engine from ProTools
gives you the correct current choices for the DAE engine. It's
probably best to set up the playback engine there.

That's good to hear. My copy of PT 6.4 should be coming today. I'll
report back.
I guess my feeling is that there will be no more bug fixes from
Digidesign for pre-6.4 ProTools. So if anything is fixed, it'll be
fixed in 6.4 or a subsequent cs release. I also don't think
Digidesign is testing pre 6.4 PT with the latest Mac OS version.
