I´m shooting in the blue (is this English?), but have you set an input
definition in the Aux object (e.g. bus 1-2)?

Hi,
Am about to switch from OS9/G4 867/Logic/TDM to
OSX/G5/Logic /PTHD3 accel.
Have been reading various helpful posts here and was hoping
for any
other words of warning.
As in:
1.Should I install new system on a large DP G4 instead of G5?
(have heard dicey things about Logic w/PTHD on G5)
2. Is ESB REALLY stable in this setup?
3. Can I expect MANY more (EXS,Kontact, etc) instruments
(20-40) running native thru the ESB, AND a high (HD)track
count?
Thanks for any advice.
A
Well, I'm putting that exact system together next week. I'll keep you all
posted.

I've used both, now, and I personally find the LogicKeyboard layout
to be superior. PowerKeys relies too heavily on the F keys (because
there used to be a place to paste a big label on the older Apple
keyboards). Now, the only keyboard that even fits those labels is the
MacAlly, and it doesn't fit them well (the rounded lump that sticks
out by the space bar requires some weird label positioning).
LogicKeyboard has every key labeled with two commands (and there are
additional mapped commands with other modifiers, too). The molded-in
labeling is much better then the paste on labels that seem to fall
off instantly. Plus, it's really efficient to have key commands
marked and labeled for all the keys not on the edge. The grouping of
all the automation controls in one location is also nice.
I had an email from PowerKeys a long time ago that said they might be
coming out with a new (molded) product, but I got tired of waiting.
They don't seem that interested in further development. In contrast,
LogicKeyboard is a lot more on top of things. A new key command set
and a few replacement keys were available for LogicKeyboard soon
after Logic version 6.0 came out.

Haven't made the switch myself, but be advised that you'll get
limited PT track count with Panther on any G4 less than a DP 1.25 Ghz
(see the Digidesign PT 6.2.3 compatibility documents).
Overall, it's my observation is spending more time working on G5
compatibility than G4 compatibility, so I'd expect G5 problems to be
ironed out first.

Hi all
Does Logic in OSX work with Protools D24 cards and farms for anyone out
there?
Ive just finished rigging a dual boot G4 for someone with the promise
that they can change over to OSX when they are ready but I see no
digi hardware - logic 6 in OS9 runs smooth as ever
I assumed I didnt have up to date PT for `Panther - only 6.1 - but
the logic site notes on new logic pro - sort of implies that d24/mix
is only usable in OS9
thanks in advance even if bad news

I´m running HD3 Accel on a DP 1GHz Quicksilver on Panther.
It´s great. I haven´t reached the track limits.
Regarding "reduced track count", well the system is theoretically
capable of
192 tracks at 44.1/24, I hope I´ll never need that many.
IMO Logic will "only" do 128 anyway.
Sorry, can´t tell you much about DTDM performance, I only use that
relative
litely (say max. 24 tracks), but that works great, too.

Well, try...
I can´t help you much more, because Accel won´t work in OS9 and
I can´t
remember exactly how my system was set up back in those days...

Uhh, I try to test that tomorrow, haven´t used it in Logic OSX yet

I am getting a lot of 'try to save your song' errors. Usually when
opening a song and hitting 'play'. Reloading often makes the problem go
away for a while.
Every once and a while a song will just up and shut down with no
warning.
I tried trashing the prefs. Maybe a corrupted autoload?? A grumpy
plugin?
Here is what is in the system

Not in the manual...? Anyway, in Logic 4.8.1, hold the "alt" key
whilst
selecting the window you want from the Windows menu. Can't speak for later
versions, OSX etc.

My problem.
When I play a session with Direct TDM tracks mixed with DAE tracks,
DAE tracks stop playing back after a few seconds, and the Direct TDM
and DAE Aux tracks with EXS-24 keep playing.
It use to happen in OS9 but only with a lots of tracks playing (70
or more), now it happens when I play back 4 tracks or more.
It is so frustrating. I expected OSX to be more powerful than 9!
Any suggestion?
Nick, you are wrong there
U could run the core audio drivers for protools and run protools in native
though...

Yes, then you forfeit 100% of any benefit that TDM
has to offer.
However, if you started out with a tiny TDM rig, and
stuck it in a hefty G5, then the native horsepower would
dwarf your TDM horsepower.
If you have MIX or HD hardware, it's better to run ESB.
Then you can have both TDM and Native at the same time.

I'm having a problem with midi on the following setup:
Logic 6.3.1, Mac G4 dual 500 mhz, OS 9.2.2, TDM Mixplus system (2 farm
cards), 1 GB
RAM, AMT-8 (USB), all latest drivers.
Playing lots of fast notes from keyboard will eventually mess up the midi,
Logic will send
out huge quantities of MTC, notes will get stuck, etc. When this problem
first occurred I
was using a MOTU Midi-xpress with Stealth serial port and thought the
interface was
failing. The MOTU midi-xpress eventually died and I replaced it with a MOTU
MTP-AV but
problem reappeared. Then I switched to USB, same problem. Tried another
MTP-AV, same
problem, then switched to an AMT-8 and stopped using OMS, same problem.
At one point I got rid of "Conflict Catcher" and that seemed to
fix the problem for awhile
but it has reappared. Most recently did a clean install of OS 9.2.2
(starting with 9.0.1) but
problem has not gone away.
I can't find any midi loops - keyboard in (Yamaha KX-88), all others are
outs only. One of
the midi cables is 25' long - could this be a problem?

We're talking about two different things: DirectI/O / Core Audio, and
using the box as a stand-alone converter with no computer in front of
his RME card. I understood the latter was what he wants to do.

Has that in fact been confirmed by white-coated maniacs with time on
their hands?
It would mean giving up Wave Mechanics and Access Virus TDM - two
non-starters for me - but that would be an interesting statistic.
