I don't know if anyone outthere is using logic or Protools on Windows
2000, but here goes. I'm using Logic platinum v4.8. Under the audio
drivers menu, if I select Direct I/O I have available my Digi TDM mix
card. Logic seems to playback audio w/ this card ok, but if I try to
record audio, that where the problem begins. It asks me where I want
to save my audio file, I indicate what drive etc. AS soon as I go
into record mode, a window pops saying something about Logic pla
problem. At this point Logic has crashed and the computer has to be
rebooted. At one time, I had used the suggested "WAvedriver" from
Digi, but this didn't work at all not even audio playback. Has anyone
had success recording audio on Logic using the Digi card? any suggestions

Shouldn't the driver be DAE not DI/O?

1)Can I use digital converters in 888 stand alone mode with a
Delta 1010LT PCI card(has sync clock and s/pdif) to run Cubase
SX 2.0 in OSX using ASIO drivers alone by just unplugging 888
computer Cable and then continue using DAE Drivers for Pro

2)Is Digidesign planning or do they already support Audio Units.
If so, can I just use 888 stand alone mode with ASIO drivers
without buying a Delta 1010LT and use my M-Audio Audiophile
that has S/pdif in/out and two inputs/outputs or does the 888 only
work with DAE or Direct I/O? Thanks in advance for your help .

ESB only works on the first insert, have you tried it there?

Yes I'm using the first insert on TDM Aux 1-2. I moved my 6.3.1 install to
another location, trashed my current ESB TDM plug, and ran the 6.3.1
updater again. it put both the EXS TDM and ESB TDM back in my DAE
plugins folder but their still not showing up. other thoughts? I've been
getting
miserable DAE errors when running tracks off of ASIO with my MOTU card so
I'd like to phase the MOTU out.

yes. I've created 8 DTM objects with outputs set to output 1-2. So when I
click on the
first insert in TDM Aux 1-2 should it have a plug in called "ESB
TDM" in the list? Does it
have a different name?

You also need the DirectConnect plugin in your DAE plugins
folder. This is available from Digidesign's website.

Is it logic 6.x?
In that case, i think they changed the Esb from functioning
As a plug-in to being available as an input on your DAE aux channel.

In OS-X this is true; In OS9 it's the same as it always was.

hello list,
is there a possibility to get a movie on a tft-screen
without latency (to use as an additional movie-screen) ?
all the cards/boxes i tested are at least 10 frames late....
i also tried one of these composite to vga converters, same thing...
pc or mac doesn't matter.
thanx & best regards- philipp

Does anyone know what causes (and fixes) the 20-30 pixel screen offset in
Logic under OSX? I am running a TDM system.

Hi Philipp,
There can be a number of factors involved in the video latency but the good
news is: you can compensate for it. In Song Settings->Video Settings you
can
specify in frames the amount of delay for both video on you computer monitor
as well as external video (DV playback over FireWire for instance). Use
negative settings to compensate for the delay.
We have had some problems with this feature (compensating for external video
didn't work properly) but with the latest version everything works OK here.
You might need to run a short test to determine the amount of delay in your
system. Use a movie to which you easily achieve accurate sync such as a
count-in or something or, better, create a short movie containing black with
one white frame at a position you know. Place a percussive sound at that
SMPTE location and adjust the video delay until you've achieved proper sync.
Hope this helps,
Ivo

thanx ivo,
the problem is i'd like to use this tft-screen as an additional screen to
the tv-monitor in the booth..... means, the logic offset is right for one
screen, but not for the other... ;-/
that's why i acctually need a zero-latency solution, if there is any....
thanx anyway, best regards- philipp

Pull Kontakt out of your plugins folder. That seems to be causing the
problem. Also, some people say that if you don't touch your mouse or
keyboard while logic is starting up (like to go to another app or to the
finder) then it seems to start up ok.
this is really a strange one...
you don't have to pull kontakt (or any NI-plug) out of your system.
there's a workaround: open the song & close it again - then open the
song again using 'open recent' - problem gone!
means, the normal 'open' path causes the 'bug' with NI-plugs in your
system.

How are you using NI-plugs in a logic-TDM system? Is there a way to
use them without RTAS? Are you still using a Mix system or are you
on HD? Can either of you give a quick rundown of your setup?
Thanks

Hey Jeff, it's the NI Kompakt plug-in, possibly Kontakt and even
other NIs as well.
If you decide to remove the plug-ins, as I did, they're in
Library->Audio->Plug-ins. I think you can then un-fongulate any
affected Songs by importing screensets from a clean Song, but I could
be wrong.

Do you have the Digidesign Stream Manager installed, too?

The Logic Keyboard has many keys that are waisted in unnecesary functions.
They allocated a key to the eraser tool when you can just hit the delete
key.
You should check the Powerkeys (although it is not a keyboard) which
has been the standard for many pros that use Logic.
