Anyone in Brugge/Bruges?
I'm going to be there from Wednesday to Sunday this week, would love

Logic 6.2.1
OS 10.2.3
1GHz PowerBook
It seems that the quantization behaviour has a bug.
- Quantize a part non-destructively using Extended parameters, and
include a Q-Vel setting, as well as the regular quantization grid
choice.
- Next, use the Q-Tool in a Matrix Editor, or the Q- pop-up in a Matrix
or List Editor, and quantize a single note in the sequence. What's now
happening is that ALL the notes in the sequence are being reset to
their as-played veloctiy EXCEPT for the note just quantized. All other
notes in the sequence do still retain their placement as specified in
the Extended parameters.
– The way it used to work: only the note edited with the Q-tool or
Q-pop-up would revert to it's as-played settings. All other notes in
the sequence would not be affected, as they are now.
I've reported this to support on the new web form (no more emails to
Emagic support . . . ).

I just detailed in a previous bug report how the Q-Tool is
misbehaving. Now Iha ve discovered that the "Q_Flam" option in
Extended Parameters is broken.
-If I start to adjust the value in Q-GFlam to other than ), chordal
notes start moving later and later in the sequencer, pushing them
totally out of time. It seems to start where Logic detects the first
chord within a sequence. The worst effects occur later on in the
sequence, where the notes are puched further out of time. Totally
broken.
I assume since I just came across two quantize bugs, there are likely
to be more...

Oops - I just submitted the bug report regarding Q-Flam in Extended
Paramters. I think I was wrong - and was simply using values that were
too large. And/Or the problem is noit recurring in a new sequence.

Kit,
Ya know, I love all that space. Having no board is really cool and
about 5 miles less cables. I use a Digi 1622 going into my legacy port
of my 192 for all of my synths, thats how to add 16 analog ins to your
rig. I think another company makes a cheaper one then the Studio Techs,
although I can't vouch for their quality. Check out the Samson Control
Room Matrix (C.Control). It looks like it has all of the goodies and
it's only 99.00 list! Let me know if it's good.

Hey guys,
I have a client who is upgrading his antiquate G3/ Mix+/ Logic 4 system to
something new and here is our question:
Should we go with A) Dual Proc 1.66 G4, PTHD and Logic 6 in OS9 (I know
about the 6.2 probs); or B) G5 single 1.6 G5, PTHD, Logic 6 in OSX?
Any help would be appreciated. I will mainly use Logic for MIDI and PT for
audio for the time being.

PT does not yet work on a G5, so you'll need to wait on that.
In all seriousness, running PT and Logic is going to be a mess for
awhile. The dust hasn't settled yet from the transition to HD and to
OSX, and now Digidesign is introducing a new Accel system which will
require plug-ins to be rewritten again.
If I were you, I think I'd seriously consider a dual processor 2 Ghz
G5, some high quality convertors, and *NO* ProTools hardware. If
you're upgrading from Logic 4, all the new stuff in Logic 6
(especially in the automation department) is going to be a dramatic
improvement. Plus, if you're working in Logic, the new Freeze
function would seriously stretch the massive amount of DSP that the
DP G5 has.
I'm trying hard to be optimistic, but with the rate of change
accelerating, I really wonder if all the Logic/PT glitches will ever
be ironed out. There's a real advantage to having the operating
system, computer hardware, and the lion's share of your audio
software all essentially made by the same company (Apple). I'm
sitting here with an HD6 system and four 192's, really wishing I
wasn't so heavily invested in Digidesign gear right now. It doesn't
seem that Digidesign is going to ever get that serious about MIDI,
scoring, etc., so Logic is definitely the place for me to be. I
personally prefer mixing and editing audio in Logic, too. Version 6
was a real giant step forward in that department.
Take the money you would have invested in PT, and sink it into some
high quality outboard DSP (TC Electronics System 6000 or 4000,
Eventide Orville, a nice buss compressor, etc.).
With the Freeze function, and the huge amount of power in a G5,
native audio is now in an entirely different arena. It's now a
serious contender. Native now vastly exceeds PT in numbers of tracks
that can be played back.
There's no longer a need to spend sleepless nights tossing and
turning, worrying if Emagic and Digidesign will continue to cooperate.

ok here's the problem:
i recorded a song in Logic audio platinum 4.7(in asio) and then
switched drivers(to MAC AV) to listen through another set of
speakers. it asked if i wanted to convert song to MAC AV and hit yes
(as i normally do, i 've done this before) and everything played
fine. the problem is after i was done listining i switched back to
ASIO and it DIDN'T ask me if i want to convert song to ASIO. now
there is no output and there are lines through my plugins and aoudio
intruments. any suggestions???

There is no 1.66 G4 (the fastest is 1.42GHz and the fastest
that runs OS9 is dual 1.25GHz).
ProTools isn't G5 compatible yet. Digi expects it to be compatible
in early October (for the 1.6 and 1.8 G5's) and mid November (for
the dual 2GHz G5's).

You can change it back yourself in the "audio hardware and
drivers"
menu in one of the drop down menus at the top of the screen. Tick the
ASIO box and unclick the MAC AV. Relauch and all the plugs shouldload
in fine.

Logic Platinum 6.2.1
Mac OS 10.2.6
Mac G4 Powerbook 1 Ghz
Below is my report to Support:
-Logic always resets mod wheel/cc#1 to zero when I stop playback.
This should be considered a bug, not a feature.
-I checked preferences: All Reset messages unchecked.
-I checked Song Settings: set to Chase Controller#1 and Chase on Cycle
Jump: then
-I Insert track automation cc#1 MIDI event to have Logic reset to
desired value, but Logic doesn't seem to chase Track Automation even if
it is a MIDI event. SO:
-I Insert actual CC#1 event in a sequence in the track. Here Logic
resets to 0 on stop, and then chases to correct value only if I stop
and play.
-Logic doesn't chase if I initiate playback from Pause mode.
-Logic doesn't chase if I press Play more than once (that is,
without stopping) - it resets to zero and stays there.
-Logic doesn't chase if double-click on the ruler to initiate
playback - it resets to zero and stays there.
These surely must be considered bugs.
I believe most or all of this is long-standing, and a real PITA too!

Ouch!
I can't see any justification for it doing that at all. It seems like
a pure bug. Why would I want an action on one note to affect all those
other notes I'm NOT editing at the moment???

When I insert the virus plug-in on an aux track, the only way I can
hear it is when I trigger the notes with the mouse on the keyboard

What do I have to do to trigger it with my midi controller like any

staying
with my good old Mix ++++...
Asking price is 300 € or $, normally it’s around 499
€. I am based in
Germany, pls email me if interested.

That would have to be on one of the new PT Accel systems, because PT
6.2 is only for Accel.
It would be a shame if those of us with HD systems would need to
upgrade to Accel to make things work correctly.
