Subject: is it time to...
Message #13601
Would you say that it's the right time to update from 5.5 to 6.1 ? I have bought the 5->6 update for my Mix cube system but didn't install yet. Is 6.1 a good version or will my life be easier waiting for a 6.2 and working on a stable 5.5 ? Maybe a silly question but i don't like beta testing :-)) Raf

The main reason for me was of the new integrated TDM DSP usage window since allocator doesnt work on HD sytems. Stability is no worse or less than 5.5 in my experience, well perhaps a little smoother running in 6.1 especially where the automation is concerned. The group and hide functions are "young" but great features. I find that the video inegration has greatly improved in 6.1 especially DV streaming through firewire. All in all 6.1 feels much less like a beta than 5.0 did. There are no real bugs in my experience (not to be confused with questionable feature implimentation) Peter

Uhhm.. to answer the original question. YES! I get rex previews working fine from Logic 6.1's native file selector. No glitches, previews are in the song's tempo too. I wasn't aware of that they had fixed it. m (g4 dual 800 / 9.2.2 / Logic 6.1 / Pulsar2 ASIO + TDM MIX3)

check the authorization menu. Are your ESB and EXS still authorized ? I had that kind of problem. Was the the begining of an XSKey malfuntion. Message #13609
Hi, I have a client that has composed a piece in 4/4 which should have been composed in 12/8. As I don't want the live musicians to read a triplet figure for every beat, I would like to convert it. If Logic has such a feature I'd love to find out. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. Jeff

Me too! I have 1 XSkey and use both a G4 QuickSilver and a powerbook G4, so, sometimes I don't have the XSkey plugged into the laptop and then I get these odd error messages when I start PT with my Mbox. BTW I always have to re-start the PB because PT says 'cannot create DAE deck'. Renger On maandag, jun 30, 2003, at 11:06 Europe/Amsterdam, Richmond, James (James) ** CTR ** wrote: > How odd.... Hi, i wonder if it's only because of the amount of files i have in my sampler instruments (i have 300 000 files scanned) folder but it takes so long to launch the project manager... several minutes ! Does it have to be that way all the time ? "updating tree" and "checking path". First the scan was long but only had to do it once. What about your impressions ? All that time lost for a convenient way of saving dependent files as a project :-( Raphael.

Hi, This is an automatically generated message sent once a month. 1. RULES -------------- This is an unmoderated list, so we ask you to respect the "netiquette". Offending language or replies that critisize personals are also not allowed on this list. Subscribers who don't act according to the rules of this list will get banned. * Replies to OT messages should be done in private. If possible, try to post OT messages to the logic-ot mailinglist. * Please try to use these abbreviations in the subject line of your mails as much as possible: ADMIN = Administrative (list-related) messages TIP = Tip (post as many of these as possible) WISH = A Wish, Logic related of course HELP = Help me please! You'll notice some nice advantages of being subscribed to this list once you've been subscribed for a while! Here's a list with the most common features: * User-provided info: this is one of the most informative mailinglists available. * Emagic-provided info: some Emagic people are subscribed and are actively taking part in the discussions. They do so without any obligation, so every message they send is based on their goodwill. Keep in mind that this is not an official list! It is made BY users FOR users. * You can manage your account: choose between "individual emails" (lots of traffic: up to 100 mails a day!), "daily digests" (= all emails bundled into one big mail) or "no mail/web based only" (= you're still subscribed, so you can still browse through the archives, but you don't receive any emails anymore -> handy when you're going on holiday and don't want an overloaded mailbox: instead of unsubscribing, just switch to "no mail/ web based only" until you're back). * You can browse and search the archives. * You can see info about other users. * Many other things... 3. Subject: ESX - Samplecell convert - long wait
Message #13625
Sometimes ESX can take up to 5 minutes to convert a samplecell instrument, say, if the samples have been moved. So, I have to load the instrument into samplecell, let SC find the samples, then save, the it opens up in ESX, fine - 2 seconds. However, the wait is painfully long initially. There doesn't seem to be any way of aborting the process either. There should be a way of aborting, or better yet, a more intelligent search algorithm. Most of the samples would be in the same directory, so it should only have to search for one and then it would find the rest. Incidentally, any new Recycle instruments take ages to open in ESX. So, I need SC around just to open them first. I'm sure like a lot of users who have Samplecell, I want to switch to ESX, but sometimes it is scary relying on it alone. Morgan Visconti Human
