This is all understandable, except I am in OSX. OMS is out of the picture.
Virus shows up, but how do I make a virtual link to it with midi?

that's even easier, you only need to create a MIDI instrument and choose the
indigo from within the port menu.

I notice the new Cedar hardware box can reconstruct a clipped
waveform. I've often thought this must be fairly easy for computers
to do.
Anyone know of any other plugin (or app) for PC or Mac which can do this?

Hi,
question from a dummy : are TDM plug ins on my DAE folder (OS 9.2.2)
able to be recognized if i update to Logic 6.1 under OS X.2.6 ?? Or is
it a hard job to order new versions from Waves, Bombafactory etc...
Thanx.
Raf
You have to get all your plugs on an ilok which will require work.

It's totally reliable, it's just a chore spending hours on hold on the phone
to get everyone to credit your ilok account.
I have over 40 plugs for pt and it was hours of work.

Hello,
Imagine you only have two preamps(Millenia and 1960Drawmer)...a 888/24
and a Ptools 24mix3.( It's me!)
Do you think that with those new G5 Macs, i'll us less and less the
horsepower of my Mix cards. Do you think that the future is in the
native side for the plug ins and virtual instruments rather than TDM
plugs ?
Raf
not sure, but old pci cards won't work on the new g5's so you'll have to
sell those off.

Wait. You're saying that my MIXplus system won't work with the G5s? PCI-X
slots are supposed to be backward compatable...
Please say it ain't so.

I do know that I like to be on top of it, so...

Eventually the Mac will be fast enough that nobody needs
more audio DSP thus requiring some kind of auxiliary
card (like TDM, PowerCore, UAD1).
But the first 2GHz dual G5 isn't enough to satisfy what somebody
needs if they max out a MIX3 or HD2 rig including whatever
native plugins they are doing on, say, a G4 single 1GHz machine.
Remember: Even when TDM is maxed out 100%, the response
of the Mac is still perfect and it adds no extra latency.
To max out a native rig, you have to sacrifice the responsiveness
and latency factor.
If HTDM plugins didn't add any extra latency compared to TDM
plugins, it could certainly mean a many-farm TDM system becoming
even less necessary.

No. You'll have to get upgrades of every DAE plugin (TDM
or AS or RTAS) in order for them to be OSX compatible.
Contact the relevant manufacturers (Digi themselves have
upgrades for lots of plugins - their own plus other ones
they distribute like Focusrite etc...).

Hold on here now. There is alot of misinformation going on in this list
right now. Only cards that can't go to a 3.3 volt conversion from 5 volt
will not work. And there is a work-around. I posted it yesterday. SBS makes
an expansion chassis that will plugin to the new architecture and let you
use 5 volt cards. Ebay has a bunch of them everyday. Here's just one of
several models.
http://www.sbs.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.detail&Product_ID57
B&H sells them here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/links/2778.html
The prices on new ones are still up in the $7-900 range but you can find
used ones all over the place. Better look quick though...
Are we straight on this now?

Hi all,
I don't know if anyone could know this: What do you think: will it be
possible to start the G5s also with OS 9 or is it only for OS X or
classic mode?
I have heard that there is a trick how some people also made the new G4
machines (which are suppose to start only with OS X) starting with OS 9.
I am working on a G4/867 dual with OS 9 digidesign TDM stuff and don't
want to switch to OS X now.
Where is the trick?
Matthias.
AFAIK there´s no trick, it´s a hoax.

Thanks, Dean; that's good news. Is there an easy way of finding out whether
my MIXplus cards are 5 volt only?

Yes, but I think it's too early to tell when or if you won't still
want your MIX hardware. Even G4s are capable of running a lot of
plug-ins natively, so that's not the whole question.
On of the issues has nothing to do with how fast the computers go:
there may be unique TDM plug-ins you find important that don't get
re-written in native formats.

Everything I've read says that PCI-X is backward-compatible and they
will work. Do you know something I don't know?

Does anybody on this list use this setup and if so have you had
any issues with compatability? I have had a hard time finding an
answer to this on the web. Apple says it works, Digi says it doesn't.
I finally make the switch to X and I find out my expansion chasis
might not be supported, forever chaseing technology...PLEASE SEND
HELP!!!
