Just came to mind, have you tried minimizing the extension set to system
base? Might help if that's a CD driver conflict or something similar.

Peter,
I have tried removing the unused drivers from the OMS folders, and
that didn't help.
Regarding the OMS document, do you mean I should just make a blank
OMS set-up document with nothing in it for use with Logic?

Thought some of you (especially Phil and Hanno) might be happy to hear this.
Apple just announced a fan and power supply replacement program
(parts are free, but shipping is $19.95) to quiet the Mirrored Door

Each time I try to launch Logic 5.5 on my Dual1GHz G4 with
MixPlus and SampleCell installed, I receive "DAE Error -9007
while trying to create Mixchannel". The DAE application is
working, when I start it alone without Logic.
I tried to open Logic with all DAE/DSI versions from 5.0 to 5.1.1.
and I also tested a lot of different Extension settings with different
versions of DSP Manager, Direkt I/O Apple PCI etc. without any
result. I´ve even tried a different PCI Slot order...
Before trying to install the TDM system in the new G4, it was
running perfect in my old 9600. All connections and cables are
OK. The system itself seems to work, because with Digidesigns´
Control Panel and during Logics´ launch sequence I am able to
setup and check the Audio Interfaces.
DigiTest 5.1.3cs6 reports all cards have passed all tests.
HELP! Where is the mistake? Has anyone got an idea?

Well guys I have checked everything tried every extension set I could
combine ...... Base didn't work tried going smaller than that but
frankly It's ridiculous to have to go to this much trouble to install a
file ...........
Yes I have an IQ over 150 ( of course I still make boneheaded mistakes)
and I did read the requirements 3 times all is well Extended format,
plenty of room on drive .... started the install form the drive not the
CD .......
of course they could just sell a DVD version and one could just drag
the file over.....
anyway we will see come tomorrow
Thanks to all of you and ur amazing trials of installation ....
including the USB switcher issue all very helpful but no one wins the
grand prize (including me)
thanks again

Bingo! That did it!
I made an OMS setup document with absolutely nothing in it, and now
everything works fine right off the bat when I launch Logic. no port
resetting necessary. Plus, I don't get a crash when I quit, either.
Thanks Peter. That tip alone was worth the price of admission to this
list. ;)
Interesting how, at least for me, Logic requires the OMS extension to
be enabled, even if it's not being used. Perhaps DAE needs it in some
way.
At any rate, it's interesting that developers have been able to keep
OMS limping along this long, considering that Henry J. pulled the
plug on it so long ago. If it was still alive, I'm sure there would
have been many revisions by now. It served us well, but I doubt I'll
be shedding a tear when I can finally say goodbye for the last time
and move everything to OS X.

I have only recently come back to Logic/TDM after 18 months on Pro Tools
software and was wondering if it is worth purchasing ESB seeing as though
many things are changing over right now [OSX, Logic 6, HD etc]. Essentially,
will ESB be left behind or will it continue to be supported as everything
else changes in the coming months and years? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
BJ
i heard DC will be continued... that mean ESB will alive.... personally i
can't live without ESB.. i have been using PT from ver 1.15. and never
want to touch PT software in my life anymore. And Logic implement softsyn,
native engine so much better than PT.

I just read an official statement somewhere on the Digi site that
they have no plans to develop Direct Connect in OSX..
I heard they are working with Emagic to come up with an
alternative method to to use ESB in OSX... possibly using
HTDM....not sure on that one..

I had the same exact problem.I couldn¹t work it out..It would happen
with
oms without it or builtin and oms together. And of course emagic tech

Ok, ok I went through this little dance. I just changed my Mix++DSP up from
a 9600 to a DP867.
I had this exact problem.
Before you do anything please run the latest Digi Test.
When I ran Digi Test, one or all my cards failed.......at least 3 times.
Why?, because you have to pull them out and reseat them a couple of times.
Keep doing it until they pass the Digi Test.
Mine is ok now.
It's a wierd thing I know. But a few others have had the same
"reseating"
problem.
Also, I was having very strange crashes with Logic upon boot. I could not
trouble shoot with normal common sense. It turns out to be a faulty RAM
stick.
Run TechTool Pro and do a RAM test. You never know it could be just that.
BTW sometimes my cards would work and sometimes they wouldn't. I was going
crazy and ready to run back to the 9600.
Now that it all works it's quite amazing. Now I know how really old and
tired the good ol 9600 was, and just what I was missing out on.
Also note that I scoured the DUC (Digi User Conference) for any similar
problems to mine. The answer was there from a Digi Tech who said "keep
reseating the cards until they pass the Digi Test". So there you go,
that
might be it. (I would almost bet on it)

Hi Phil,
after a night without sleeping I´ve found the problem.
It was the 16-bit Optimized Mixer 1.8.1 that doesn´t work with
DAE/DSI 5.1.1
With the 24-bit Optimized Mixer 5.1.1 the system is running.

No, your usual OMS setup, but without the midiinterface *in* the setup, to
avoid Logic accessing the midiinterface twice, first through it's own
drivers, and second via OMS.

>OMS set-up document with nothing in it for use with Logic?
it's possible that simply making a new copy of yer 'normal' oms setup, then
removing the midi-interfaces from that copy, saving it and making it
'current' before opening logic may do the trick for ya. (in logic, it's then
feasible to 'use OMS in conjunction w/logic drivers' etc).

OMS is used for things like "Virus" and "Indigo" and
other softsynths that
run on direct connect. OMS automatically creates a little nodule for them
when they get instanciated. So it seems DAE must check for OMS in case it
has to do that.

I'm using Logic 5.5 with PT|HD hardware. When I use "Add file" in
the
Audio window I get the standard dialog box OK, and I can audition any
file OK (by pressing the space bar, or the "play" button in the
dialog). However, once I have auditioned one file I am unable to
audition any more. If I select another file and hit the play button,
the file mins & secs counter ticks over but no sound comes out, and the
audition meters don't move. Note this is when adding files into the
Audio window, not playing files within the Audio window itself. Anyone
got any clues?

Does anyone have experience using two 23" Apple Cinema Displays with
Logic on a dual 1Ghz G4 ?
Will it work using the included video card with some sort of adapter ?
I want to mirror the same image on both monitors (not an extended
desktop).
Thanks!

Do any of you guys (Marathon style) rackmount your Macs horizontally?
I understand that there may be problems with the Superdrives, even with the
clips that Marathon provides.
I need more room in my Isorack and want to know if this is a viable
solution. FYI- its a Quicksilver Mac.
Thanks.
