We have the Millenia here in the studio. Although it is a good
sounding device it is highly overrated in my opinion. If your budget
is limited I'd rather go for a good but better priced unit like the
focusrite's etc.
From experience I know that a better mic preamp makes a bigger
difference than AD. The 882 is a reasonable convertor.

I have an ISA220 and Red 7 that digitally feeds a 96IO and it is a
really good combo.

Hi all,
is it possible to export ProTools Sessions (mainly audio) to Logic 5.3 via
OMF? Does anybody here already have some experiences with that case? Do we
need additional software like the expensive DigiTranslator2 for that?
Thanks in advance for your hopefully numerous answers
bye
Bernd
It's possible and you'll need digitranslator 1 or 2 depending on the PT
version you are using. You will have to remix the audio in Logic.

Yes, via Digidesign's DigiTranslator software. Version 1
(which doesn't do 24bits) is available as a stand-alone
product. Version2 is only available as a "plugin" to PT
TDM software (not available as a "plugin" inside PT LE
PT Free).
Logic Audio Platinum 5.x has this functionality built
right in at no additional cost as a "plugin".
Not *everything* is exportable to OMF. Certainly not MIDI
or plugin information. (at least with MIDI you can export
a separate independent MIDI file for that).

Since you need a USB port, and you don't even have
any PCI slots available, this is another reason (among MANY
others) that you should ditch the beige G3 and get a G4.

I use a Mac because I'm in the business of
computing my work, not working my computer.
I was one on the first to get PTHD and the HD Extention. I have about
twenty days left before it runs out and still no email from Emagic
concerning the authorization code. Emailed twice with no response.
Anyone got their Class A numbers yet?
Thanks,
Pete Church

I just registered mine at the website, but from the automated
response, I kind of got the idea that you also need to physically
send in the warranty card in the proper envelope, with one of your
XSKey stickers (there's a little bag of them that come with Logic 5)
affixed on top.
I could be wrong, and haven't gotten my Class A code yet, but I
wasn't going to take any chances.
*Please* let us know if and when you get your code.

Good question Jon, silly of me to forget to say that. I would opt for
a Neumann TLM 103, which is in my pricerange.
Thanks for your thoughts, Bob.

Ooops, my mistake. I see now that I have not yet received my codes
for the HD extension. I was thinking of the codes forLogic 5.0, EVOC
and the ES2. So I guess it will soon be time for me to start emailing
and calling again.
I don't understand why Emagic Germany (who in my understanding is
responsible for generating the class A codes) is unable or unwilling
to just send us the codes in a timely fashion. How hard can it be ?

Apparently,
Nicole at Emagic US processes the registrations, sends email OK's to
Germany, and then Emagic-Germany emails us the codes.....I should have mine

Just a guess but it might be worth trying updating the firmware of
the LC maybe? You can do that from the control surface setup page.

Look for a god price on a G4/400
Seriously, ES2 alone will eat the G3/233 processor as an entree before
you even get to the main course. EXS24 is about the only instrument
which will run on a 233 comfortably, even ES1 has to be judiciously
watched in case polyphony gets high enough to stall.
Also, the only workable usb solution is a pci card, which you have no
room for.

I'm using 5.3 (mac) and tried using tap tempo for the first time last night.
Is there a known problem with this?
AFAIK I haven't changed any settings. I tap the key on the keyboard, sync
switches to external but the tempo display reads nonsense and some weird
graphics stuff starts happening at the left side of the arrange window!
Anyone else had this?
Cheers,
Ian.

Yes, you'll need to switch to the ATTO-card. IF you decide to go on
with scsi-drives. Personally I find the internal drives in the G4 933
well capable of handling at least 96 tracks of 24-bit 44.1 kHz audio
with PT HD. But, I don't know what will happen if you move up the
sampling freq. to 96.....?
Somebody?

And in my opinion that's highly wrong. Sorry, but I flat out disagree 1000%.
I have two of their STT-1 channels, and its preamp and eq are
incredible. It's also extremely versatile if you replace the stock
tubes with exotic ones (they'll do that for you). That way you have a
totally uncolored solid-state path and a highly colored tube path.
Plus you can switch the transformer in and out for another color.
This is the kind of equipment that you have for years, unlike digital
toys that go out of fashion while you're unpacking the box they came
in. It's expensive, but really a worthwhile investment. I sold all my
other outboard equipment to get them - I just couldn't send the
review unit back, and I needed the second one for stereo - and I
don't regret it for a second.
