You get the update togeteher with the logic control unit, because this
unit is only supported by 5.1 .
But beside the unlimited undo/redo , there´s nothing new in it... no
bugfixes !!!

I've just got Emagic Audio Pro ISIS version 3.6 and am having trouble
working out how to play the GM instruments in MIDI banks OTHER THAN
the default MIDI bank 0. I can play all the groovy sounds through
Soundbank Manager but I can't get them to play when I want to record
in the Logic Arrange Window. When I type in the bank and program
numbers all I get are the default GM sounds from Bank 0...Is there
something wrong with me or my software? I'd appreciate any
suggestions...
Cheers,
Michael.
Yes you can get a stealth serial port for G4. You can also get an ADB to USB
adapter, I think you should be able to connect your Unitor 8 to USB with
this.

Unfortunately there are only USB->ADB adapters, not the other way round.

from what I heard logic for OSX will come and is in the works, but I
am really afraid what our "legacy" PT4 hardware will run into ,
maybe
only PT HD is ported to OSX ??
I took out a samplecell TDM card to place a sonnet tango usb+FW pci
card in the slot
I use EXS only now , so it wasnt too bad except that PT now has no sampler
:-(
soft samplecell aint as tight as EXS in logic !
But I feel the upgrade pressure coming next year when most apps will
run on OSX.
ciao

There is some confusion over terminology. I have a Griffin iMate "ADB
to
USB" adapter. That's what it says on the box, yet what it does is of
course
connect an ADB device's input to a USB output, so really they should call it
USB to ADB.
Very misleading

I think he explained that on a different post. It was semantics ( ie. the

Pete, where have you seen a USB to ADB adapter? All I can find is the
other way round (connecting ADB devices to a USB computer). I would
appreciate any URLs or addresses.
Thanks,
Brio
So...
It really does not work.
I tried both ""auto demix" and "physical input", no
luck.
Demixing channels after they are recorded is easy, the problem is
hearing more than one instrument in real time, while playing live.
Cheers!

I don't think this is what you want. It is a Griffin imate, but it connects
an ADB device to a USB computer. On the box it is called "Universal ADB
to
USB Adapter", but there is some confusion over whether a device that
connects USB on the computer to an ADB device is called USB to ADB or ADB to
USB, and I believe griffin have now changed their description to: "USB
to
ADB".
When I said that I think you can connect a Unitor 8 (serial) to USB I was
using the "ADB to USB" description as used by Griffin on the box
of the
adaper I have.
Hope this clears it up.

No, it won´t work (with native Instruments)! It is a problem of the
native
engine, with the EXS 24 it works fine, but not with EVP, B4 etc. under ASIO
Mode or with the ESB.
I´ve told with Emagic about this, and they agree with me, but
they´re
working onŠ

The iMate was never intended for midi. It's ADB. That's for keyboards and
mice. It will not work for midi at all. The Stealth Gport replaces the modem
in a G4 (the G3 version is physically different BTW) to give you a
printer/modem serial port. This one works for midi very well, although
getting it set up is a big jiggy. There are other Serial to USB devices
that connect to the USB port on a Mac and receive a serial connection, but
none of those are reliable for midi in my personal experience. Do yourself
a favor (and perhaps prevent a stroke from stress) and use the Griffin Gport
if you intend to use a serial interface. On the other hand, you can switch
to the newer Unitor or AMT-8 which have both serial and USB I think.
Sorry if this is redundant, but I hate to see someone suffer as I did.
Someone told me to use the Keyspan Twin Serial adapter for midi, and oi!
what a headache!

Hi:
In the past logic +6 db send is = to 0.00 send in PT. Does it fix?? Does
emagic think about RTAS inside logic?? The dither mixer didn't work inside
Logic?? So is it works in Logic 5 now. It sound much more clear and depth
in PT.
And with ESB is great way to more native voice beside 64 TDM voices. Also
Logic didn't support virtual tracks like PT.
I'm mixing in PT for long time, does Logic 5 change it all.......

in my opinion, USB is very usable by now. OSX won't support the serial
interface protocol anymore and then you have to switch to USB anyway. i
would rather pay some extra money and buy an AMT8 to connect an old unitor
than investing money into a stealth port these days.

Hi
I just picked up a 800DP, and want to get a couple of (17") LCD
monitors running on it. Has anyone out there been through this
yet and have any recomendations?
Ideally I'd like the monitors to have switchable inputs so I can
use one on a cheap PC for Virtual Instruments.
Any advice or horror stories greatly appreciated.
Cheers in advance

forget the 2 nd video card, bad idea, it's gonna be a nightmare to deal
with, because of your tdm system.
I use a promax dh-max, that has agp 2X and vga double output, which is imo
the best solution for every pt user on the mac.

Because you are talking of the marketing options: I recently got the
following post by someone of the Microwave-users group. Might be of
interest:
QUOTE:
=====I've just been alerted by a friend that Yahoo have just made a
sneaky
change to everybody's 'Marketing Preferences', the result of which
will be a load of spam. So, I've just been in and changed back what
they've done so that I won't be receiving their ads! They had
changed
ALL of my *No's* to *Yes!*
Here's what you need to do:
Go to My Groups and click on Account Info, verify your password if
it
asks you to, and your Yahoo ID card comes up. Click on 'Edit your
Marketing Preferences' and change all those Yes's back to No's!
Click
Save Changes.

Hi,
As some people already noticed, Yahoo has reset the marketing options
for some subscribers.
Don't worry, you won't receive any extra spam or so... not yet anyway.
The changes only take effect 60 days after you are notified privately by
Yahoo.
Yahoogroups have set up a webpage with information, and with a link to
the page where you can switch everything off!!
Here it is: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/privacy/privacy-23.html
We suggest you set these marketing options to "no".
Finally, we want to point out that we've just updated the LUG webpage to
include this information. We've included all possible information to
manage your Yahoo lists. We'll soon provide more information on that
webpage: http://www.belway.com/lug/

The Unitor MKII has USB and serial , AMT8 is only USB..... AFAIK
supposedly USB midi works very well now . You could buy the cheaper
AMT8 and use its parallel port to hook up your old Unitor8 to it ,
giving you 16 midi ports via USB.
