Subject: Odd sustain pedal text in 5.0 hyperdraw
Message #9602
Hi all, I can't say enough good things about 5.0. I do have one odd thing happening. I noticed when editing an EXS piano track that when I displayed controller 64 in hyperdraw that wherever there was a sustain on/off event, it was accompanied by text that was derived from my EXS sample instrument folder. It's wierd, but I then noticed a similar thing looking at the sustain display of the same track playing the EVP88. It's only happening to me on software instrument tracks. Right in the blue hyperdraw display in either the arrange or matrix windows are full instrument names next to the sustain events that are unrelated to the track in any way. I wonder if I'm the only one. Aside from this small insignificant detail, I can't find anything except great things to say about this brilliant integration of automation into the program. Wow. I love how you can trim automation for a whole track right from the db display, but has anyone noticed an easy way to trim automation on a selected group of tracks? The Transform editor doesn't work on the automation folder's events, (because it's not really midi data), and shift clicking tracks for automation editing doesn't seem to respond. Say you want to reduce automation levels on 6 tracks by an equal amount. Anybody have a quick way to do it? Anyway, bravo for 5.0!!! DEAN BAILIN

Message #9606
Hello all, I thought it would be of interest to many of you to know the HD-ready McDSP plugIns (Analog Channel, CompressorBank, FilterBank, and MC2000) are posted on our site at www.mcdsp.com. The HD update from is free, and support for up to 192 kHz sampling rates, as well as backwards compatibility to the Mix and d|24 (Classic farm) PCI hardware is included. Nubus support has been dropped. Lots of other details on our web site. Thanks to all the folks out there helping make McDSP what it is today! Colin McDowell 3/29/2002 McDSP, LLC member

Hi Malcom and Jon, Thanks for the ideas. I double checked and I did successfully transform the controller 28 info to fader 28 and I do have send 1 set in the display box. The track is in read mode, not latch or trim, but Jon put me on the right track. After I was finally able to get the controller data re-mapped to fader data, I forgot to perform "Move Current Object Data To Track Automation" on this track. I had previously done "Move All Object Control Data To Track Automation" on all tracks, but that was before I had re-mapped the controller info to fader info so the send 1 for this track was not updated. So I guess that's what it looks like if the automation has not been updated and is being controlled by pre 5.0 automation. Regards, Chris Crofford I wrote..... > > This is so weird, I had to tell someone. I have been experiencing the >> send automation problem on a TDM stereo track on one of my pre 5.0 >> songs. Chris I may be confused but it sounds to me like: (1) you have 'old' automation controlling your aux send (2) Logic's new automation is in either write/latch or trim mode When you play back the song, you are seeing the 'new' automation recording the moves the 'old' automation is making, as though you were doing them manually. Hence the realtime plot on the arrange with no breakbeats. I'll bet that if you mute your 'old' automation and grab an aux send yourself during playback, you'll see the same thing. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Jon --

Good help :-) select similar objects is selecting all the different events that are faders though. But if you select the automation you want to edit in arrange before opening the automation event list. this will also be selcted here... Thanks! I’m trying to get OMS and Native midi to work on logic 5.0. It was working and I update to 9.1. When I updated it stopped working. Each will work by themselves but not together. I’ve tried trashing Prefs, new oms setup, and even reloading oms. I use a G4-MTPAV, MTPII,OMS,LOTS of modules, TDM/Mix 24, and softsynths. One thing I do notice is when I use only oms the port says OMS, but when I use both it says Modem 0. Thanks JE

Serial to USB (or ADB to USB, bandwidth shouldn´t be a problem for dongles?) would be a GREAT device! I´d definitely buy one stante pede. That would mean I´d get my SCSI back, which I had to throw out for the USB/FireWire combo card, and FireWire doesn´t work as reliable as my old SCSI system through that card... :-/ Peter --- http://www.merlinsound.de ----- Original Message ----- From: "Will Thomson" <will@...> To: <logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Saturday, March 30, 2002 12:32 AM Subject: Re: [L-TDM] new Logic key > >Anyone have any luck with > >serial/USB converters, etc? > > We're in the same boat, and don't want to change the G3/OS8.6 for various > reasons. No I don't have LC. Did anything download when you did the web update ? I know it all seemed a nit strange when I did it. I got a message that I'd have to reboot and start the installer again to complete the update, but I couldn't find the file called lp5.upd that the download dialog had said was downloading. Anyway, I checked and 5.0.1 was installed so I figured it had done it's job. Maybe the web update didn't work and actually 5.0.1 was what was on the CD. Check the dates in 'get info' on the CD installer. Mine says 'Mon 25 Feb 2002 501 am'. Dave Eager
