When trashing the logic prefs, I am only familiar with pointing key commands to the old prefs file, but I seem to lose a bunch of midi and oms stuff. Am I missing something? Will there be any major repurcussions when I trash system, finder and appleshare?? thanks again, b.y.

Subject: Logic record to wav audio
Message #6558
I have a great tune put together in Logic 4.0 on win 98 with .wav files. I have the chance to burn it and play it out on a really big sound system this Saturday night, in London, but I can't figure out how to record the lot as a wav file. A friend suggested the process is called 'Mixing Down', which I couldn't find in the index of the manual. I found a manual entry on Audio Recording which is cryptic (as is most of the manual) to a newbie to Logic like me. I've picked a new audio track, and set the record button on it in the arrange window. Then I've hit 'record' on the transport, or hit *, which starts recording from the start, and my tune starts playing, leaving a new track. when I go back and listen to the new track it's blank.. AARRGHHH!! this is where I'm up to!! Thursday 10:15pm I play saturday night 10-12. Please help if you have any ideas. Cheers Andrew Humphries www.andrewsden.net

Your situation is similar to a new pilot that somehow managed to get a 747 airborne but is frantically searching the index of the manual for the section on "landing." ;-) Forget about this Saturday night -- you're not ready for prime time yet. If you really want to know how to operate this program, you've got to read good portions of it in a liner fashion, and that's going to take some time (the Logic manual is *NOT* cryptic). You'll never master the application if you just read a few choice bits here and there, though. (BTW, the information you seek will be under the section entitled "bouncing") Also, this is the list for Logic used in conjunction with Digidesign TDM systems. The general Logic list that you should be on is: logic-users@yahoogroups.com. Lee Blaske

Look on the master fader in the environment (usually output 1-2), and there will be a button at the bottom with "Bnce" on it. Click that and all will become clear. You can set the range to be bounced with the locators (e.g. by setting up a cycle on the arrange) or by typing it in manually. Jon p.s. you're on the wrong group - you actually want logic-users@yahoogroups.com, which is for everyone using Logic. This group is only for people using Logic with a protools (TDM) system. Subject: KAOS Radio & Info on The Soundfactory
Message #6573
Hi... I just subscribed today and I am not personally a musician, but I did used to work at a very cool community radio station in Olympia, Washington called KAOS Olympia Community Radio. Our station gained international fame for creating an independent music policy, basically that 80% of all music played there should come from independent artists or those on labels not controlled by the "BIG 6" music companies, which I guess are now the "BIG 5" or even less. If you ever want to check the station out, the url is http://www.kaosradio.org . Also, I have a couple friend in Gent, Belgium who owns a cool musical instruments and recording equipment pro audio & music software store called "The Soundfactory". Their store is really nice and what I find really interesting is that they accept international orders and have clients from across the pond and beyond. So I would like to leave the URL in case you are interested in reading about the store and what they have available. Just go to: http://www.the- soundfactory.net . They also have another store associated with The Soundfactory called The Guitar Shop and of course The Piano Shop too. You might find it interesting to read their COMPANY PHILOSOPHY to get a better feel for who they are and what they hope to accomplish with their customers. I'll leave their address and phone/fax/email information too: T H E S O U N D F A C T O R Y 2 0 0 1 J u l i u s d e V i g n e p l e i n 1 9 0 0 0 G e n t , B e l g i u m , E u r o p e TEL : 32 9 233 03 11 FAX : 32 9 224 41 41 info@t... Message #6574
Weeelll, a little embarrasing... After hours of installing etc. etc. I suddenly got the inspiration to check the setting of my MTP AV. I have had some problems mixing a LAP album, so I had changed the midi rate to 1 MHz. And then it dawned on me - I didn't change the rate in the OMS prefs too - because I had been using the internal mididrivers in Logic... So whenever I used PT it crashed because of the wrong OMS setting - even though there were no midi in the sessions... So - the danish OS 9.1 is fine, PT 5.1.1 is fine, LAP 4.7.2 - and now I'm going to have a fine nights sleep. Thansk to Jon and M-Moog for responding. Have a nice sunday Cheers, -- P e t e r H .
