PK I am a little rusted as I have been p[rimarly working in PT but I need
some help....
I have a Wave bundle I bought and other RTAS plugins that open in ProTools
without a problem -
In Logic instead only a few of those show up - only one of the Waves - most
RTAS don't -
so I look for th eplug-in folder in the computer for Logic but can't find
it...
Where are the RTAS??? Can I copy and paste an alias of the Plug-ins from
Digidesign Application Support Folder and pu them ... where???
I would appreciate any help I can get on the matter since my tech support
with Waves is now expired....

Sage, I hate to break it to you buddy, but RTAS isn't supported in
Logic. only AU.
Most of the companies that make plugs for PT and RTAS though, also
make them as AU, so you might just need to download new installers
for them.
best,

Wait a miunute so how come the AXX compressor shows up ? I did not buy the
TDm just the RTAS ???
That is bad news, is there a work around ?

Waves installers automatically install VST and AU versions with their
bundles.
Yes I understand and infact in the AudioUnits I do see the Waves plugins but
what I am saying is that in a DAE track I see the ZXX compressor which is
part of the Bundle I have from Waves...
That is really strange I think I will send an email to them - that's where I
got all confused...

Hi guy's
I am having trouble calibrating my 192 I/O and Digi PRE, I have had the 8
channel calibration template up and I need to set the output (by adjusting
the trims) to 0 VU with a VU meter. Today I tried to get a vu meter from two
large audio retail shops, Maplins, RS Electrical spares, ebay and looked up
audio testing equipment, Basically I tried all day to get one. does any one
in the uk know where I can get one from. I also need to calibrate my Digi
PRE (it has a built in oscillator +4dbu reference signal at approx 1khz). I
need to adjust the trims and set it too -6dbu below it's maximum output of
+28dbu. Can any one tell me an easy way of doing this. Cheer's Dennis.
RTAS plugins also show up on a DAE playback track (monitoring) in the
audiosuite menu, when you double click the recorded audio in the
arrange window.

OK got it - I guessed that what got me confused is that Renassince AXX
showed up in the DAE list - not audiosuite but regular insert - well i later
found out that the same happends in ProTools - I guess since it was an
addition to the bundle when i downloaded somehow the waves authorizer
authorized the TDM version as well... either a mistake from Waves or they
got generous for a moment....
Too bad wew can't used our beloved RTAS in Logic...

Hello all. I have just set up an HD2 in g5 PPC with tools 7.3.1 cs2 and
logic 7.2.3
I cant get my canopus to work with this setup though. Logic will let me
select it as the op device (I guess impplying that Logic can see it) but no
video comes out. Any ideas?
thanks
Matt
No one?
Hallo everybody,
I want to use my Project II from digidesign on a windows xp system with a
logic platinum programm or a cubase SX. I found a driver on the digidesign
support page, but by using the asio driver, logic replays with an allert.
Can anybody please help me? Thanks
i have a system with protools HD 7.2.
i also have logic 7.2.
i realize that logic can utilize the digidesign DSPs to run TDM plugins.
but, can it utilize the routing capabilities? can i use logic, and monitor
in "real time" like i would in protools? or would i need another
device,
like RME, etc to accomplish this task?
i am confused by the whole ESB thing, and the separate mixers that i'm
reading about.
thanks very much for your help!

Anyone try using a Raid array for their sample streaming libraries?
Like VSL and all your Apple loops, etc?
I have firewire drives hanging everywhere, and have a raid array
leftover from some video work that is 480 gigs. I'm wondering of it
would work for library play back. I emailed Digi tech support (PT HD3
Accel system) and they discouraged me from using a raid for anything
but video within this audio system. I'd just like to consolidate some
of the firewire drives to get rid of them.

I don't know if it's that big of a loss. RTAS is inefficient, and
does not take advantage of OSX's audio and MIDI kernel level
processing. AU is much better. High end sampler plug-ins like Kontakt
2 don't work well in RTAS. Vienna Symphonic Library decided not to
even make their new VI available in RTAS, because RTAS couldn't cut
it. It'll be interesting to see what Digidesign does with RTAS in the
future. It would be great for MacPT users is PT supported AU, but I
doubt that will happen.

If you are doing loads of VI work then AU is fine but RTAS would be
handy for anyone trying to mix on a Logic TDM system who has less
than a HD2.
You run out of slots pretty quickly especially when using plugins
like Echoboy which take an entire DSP.
I'm on HD3 accel and I run out of DSP from time to time as well.
RTAS would take the pressure off.

Well I just wish I could use my Waves on a TDM track, In ProTools I can, yes
there's latency - which can be easily compensated- but it works, in Logic I
don't think I can use both a TDM and AudioUnit plugins on the same
track....

Hi group,
I haven't been able to automatically locate (search) lost audiofiles for
several years now, attempting to do so results in LOGIC quitting without
message, a LOGIC relaunch will take OS X down.
I was advised to switch Project manager off, but I am not sure if I know
HOW. In the Projectmanager tab of LOGIC Preferences both "Load project
manager database on program launch" and "check for deleted files
after loading PM database" are UNCHECKED.
for "search files using:" I have "search engine only"
selected.
How can I banish this buggy and slow function from my program?
Thanks
Brio
I'm not sure how to turn it off but, I have been able to search lost
audio files by copying down the name of the file on a piece of paper
and then type it into the manual file search. It takes longer but it
will not crash the Logic or the OSX. I hope someone has a better way.

Does anyone know how I can "program" command 8 to work wih Logic
7??
I know it can be done as it is a universal control surface, I just dont know
how to creat an environment.
Let me know if you have any ideas
Thanks

Apple hasn't announced this yet.
It's a HUGE rewrite of the DAE, which entails a HUGE
rewrite of Logic's DAE support.

I've spent the whole day trying to get these two to play together, with no
luck. I've pored over the Logic/TDM setup guide over and over, and I must be
missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I
have...
G4 500 (I know... old) running OSX 10.3.9 with Logic Pro 7 and Pro Tools
6.4.1. I've got a Mix Plus (1 core and 2 farms) and an 888/24 I/O. The PT
has been working fine for quite a while. As it is, I can't get any sound
from DAE, DTDM, or Core Audio. Can someone help?
I've tried opening the tutorials, creating new projects, using the DAE-DTDM
template, and I can't get anything to happen.. What do I need to do?
A couple other questions are I have are..
How should the Audio/MIDI utility in OSX be set up?
I read in the Logic/TDM setup guide about a DTDM mixer, but can't find it
anywhere. What is it?
I'm mostly wanting to use the software instruments. Can instrument channels
be routed to DTDM or DAE?
Thanks!!
Stephen
All of your software versions are fine - it should work. I had a
similar system (same versions) until recently (although g4 500?...hmmmm
:))
Have you selected your prefs as DAE and DTDM in the logic prefs? You
should de-select core audio. This is obvious, but it's tough to
troubleshoot without starting there.
when you play protools, the 888/24 spits out audio?
Are you running sessions in the same 44.1 or 48 rate, or 24bit vs. 16
bit? as the audio?
Are the audio tracks you are trying to play dae tracks or DTDM tracks?
Create dae tracks first and get that working.
keep us posted and we'll help along the way

Have you created an environment template or thoroughly read the chapter on
it in the manual? Logic does not dynamically add tracks, auxes etc like PT
does. You need to define how many of everything you¹d like to work
with.
For example I have an environment layer for Audio instruments (virtual
instruments like ESX or Drumlit from hell) with say 36 audio instruments, I
then have a coreaudio (in your case DTDM) layer with 16 audio tracks for
running apple loops and rex files,or dragging something I recorded into to
use one of logics plug ins (eg bitcrusher on Bass I recorded in), I also
have a DAE Audio environment layer with 32 tracks of audio plus 4 stereo
auxes which I use to route the virtual instrument and native audio (core or
DTDM). On these 4 stereo auxes you will have to enable undre the input
source at the top of the fader (ESB 1-2. ESB 3-4, ESB 5-6, ESB 7-8). Then
go back to your Audio instruments and DTDM Audio and assign the outputs of
those tracks to whichever ESB bus you¹d like them to come out of.
Check
your audio preferences and be sure that only DTDM and DAE are enabled. This
should work now. If not some other things to consider are this: Have you
installed the Logic Pro apps update from the apple website? Also protools
6.4 is only approved for OS 10.3.4 and Quicktime 6.5.2 so you may have some
uninstalling and reinstalling to do. Search the digidesign support site.
As I recall they have a pretty thorough Logic/PT setup guide. Good Luck
