This is a reply to #8973.
Yes, I could. But: I´m using 2 10k rpm Seagate Cheetahs that were/are megabucks and mega-reliable. If I drop the SCSI card they´re gone. Removing the graphic card would not help, a dual monitor card would also use the slot (the first one is onboard). And switching to Firewire would mean at least €150 for the card and €500 for the new drives. And will I be able to use 64 tracks with Firewire and TDM? With SCSI I can. Are Firewire cards even supported by Digi for TDM systems? And it seems I just threw some money (for the USB card) out of the window for nothing. At least I tried. :-/ A lot of trouble for the new dongle that SHOULD make things easier. If emagic would supply us with a challenge-response system for older machines like every other manufacturer I know of does (even Bombfactory!) all would be well. Hey, am I the only one who uses a TDM system on a beige G3 / expansion chassis and wants to use Logic-5??? What are the rest of you doing about it? (BTW: Sorry for quoting the whole thing, but I cc the mail to emagic support.)
