This is a reply to #8483.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, you can do this in Logic. Go to the Audio Window and under Options choose >Audio Configuration. In the Audio Configuration window choose I/O labels from the View menu. From there you can name any of ins, outs, aux's or busses.
