Digidesign stopped supporting interleaved files over
15 years ago in the DAE, and still doesn't.
But you can certainly use interleaved files on native
tracks (CoreAudio or DTDM).
Universal Track Mode (and many other things in Logic,
like elastic audio, multiple bit-depths, delay compensation)
have nothing to do with the DAE.
