Subject: [L-TDM] CoreAudio / DAE timing slop
Message #25539
This is a reply to #25529.
Ricky - I read your post below with much interest. I have found it incredibly frustrating to do anything in Logic involving sidechaining, parallel compression, snare triggers from EXS, etc - basically any of the "normal" techniques I would reach for in the "analog mix world" to make my drums sound fatter. The unpredictable "timing slop" between the virtual instruments, CoreAudio and DAE tracks makes these techniques essentially useless. How do you work around this? Do you bounce / print everything? Are you no longer using DAE at all? Thanks for any tips!! --- In logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com, "ricky" <forums@...> wrote: > > Message posted by ricky <ricky@...>: > > i want to be clear... do this test > > create an empty song with dtdm turned off and nothing playing from tdm audio tracks. > > put an exs24 on core audio intrument 1 and do a pattern and loop it over the song... > then bounce let's say 1 minute of that loop and put the bounced file in core audio track 1 > > now if you press play it should play in Sync, perfectly in sync. > > do not cycle the song.. loop the audio and midi and listen over the song.. > > now in the audio you have just bounced do some random cuts over the file in arrange with the scissor.. do not move the audio.. just cut. > > now create a tdm audio track and load anything you want on that... put the audio in arrange, lower the volume if you want as you don't need to hear it. > > press play now.. you will hear that even exs24 and core audio track will flange.. and the flange changes everytime you have do the cut with the scissors. > > so in sync with what? in sync with itself ;) > > you can still use tdm plug-ins and processings on > > 1- any live input on your tdm > 2- any aux > 3- any digital or adat input you have from core audio, i have 24 in to put tdm plug.ins that is enough for me. > > i prefer being sample accurate than using tdm tracks, and i prefer core audio tracks than dae tracks so i finally stop working with stereo splitted files. > > hope it's clear now ;) >
