OTOH, iLife '08 just came out, and now even GarageBand has music
notation. How can PT be simultaneously so advanced, and so primitive
at the same time?
I still have this tingly sensation that whenever we get the next
announcement from Apple regarding the future of Logic (most likely
coinciding with the release of Leopard), our socks are going to be
knocked off. I have this gut feeling that in the not too distant
future, PT will no longer be needed in my life. Apple is going to
deliver an elegant and extremely powerful solution. Have faith. Just
watch.
No doubt, Digidesign's next big move will also be extremely
fascinating. I predict that among other things, they're going to have
to do some major work on RTAS. It's simply not up to snuff. From a
standpoint of power, I don't know how Digidesign can hope to compete
in a native environment if Apple is using kernel level audio and
midi, and they're not.
