This is a reply to #24889.
Hi Greg, yes I´m on the old PCI computer. I´ve heard that the first generation G5 2x1,8 are pretty stable. Have you gone through your system with disk warrior and idefrag though? They can make a LOT of difference if you have many DSP-intensive instruments running concurrently. If your problems occur when you stress your internal DSP:s this may prove to make a welcome change. Although I´m far from sure this is at the core of your problem. I use two internal SATA disks, one being the system disk and the other one containing most of my sample libraries (Apple Loops, NI komplete, RA, Percussive Adv, East-west Gold XP orchestras, choirs, Siedlaczek etc, everything Kontakt-or NI related) except for my EXS libraries which reside on the system disk. I keep the work files (audio) on an external FW disk. I´ve narrowed down my (part ex- AKAI) EXS library using EXS Manager which a.o. deletes duplicates of samples and makes analog instruments point to the same common sample(s). Are you still on PT 7.1? My dealer/ repair guy states that PT7.2 and above causes lots of problems with Logic. I just talked to another person at the dealer´s who said that the old G5 computers come at a pretty high price because of their rep for being reliable. All the best /E --- In logic-tdm@yahoogroups.com, Greg Critchley <greg@...> wrote: > Erik - is yours a PCI or PCIe system?
