Here an interesting question:
I have a Mix ++ system, PT 6.4, Logic 7.1.1, OS 10.3.9 running on a G4
1.25
All is well with my system for the most part - as you all know, this is
the last version that worked before Logic TDM systems became really
buggy. You also would know that I can't move in any direction (upgrades
to the OS or Protools) without having to move to a different computer,
or HD (a huge expense for me), only to inherit bugs that i don't have
now. If it wasn't for the bugginess of the HD move I might do it, but
why bother when it wouldn't run as well as what i have now?
One way around this might be to buy an MBox 2 and Protools 7.3 and put
that on a separate computer (perhaps another used g4) and run that in
sync and route the audio back into my mix plus. This would allow me to
buy plugs like drum rehab, and in other cases, RTAS versions of things
that are always cheaper than TDM anyway. If I network the 2 computers i
could likely load and echange files between the computers fairly easily
and treat the Mbox system as a place to treat and edit tracks and then
bring the treated files back into Logic/TDM
1. Does this idea seem reasonable?
2. Would running them in synch be relatively painless?
Thanks for your ideas
Greg
