There have been several threads here about professional users finding
that their new Mac Pro does not run TDM and Logic together.
When I bought my Mac Pro, I fully expected Logic and TDM to work
together as always. I have multiple screen shots of advertising on
Apple's website telling me that Logic works with Pro Tools TDM and
that Logic works on the Intel Mac Pro, and nowhere was there any
warning that Logic can not use TDM on the Mac Pro.
Later, after buying the Mac Pro, I saw that a warning about this did
appear on the Digidesign website on their compatibility page. And
that's an example of what's positive about how Digi does business.
On the other hand, Apple refuses to even discuss it at all other than
to say they know about it and plan to fix it - someday - whenever.
I know there at least three others on this list who have the same
experience, plus another person I work with who is not on this list.
What do we do next? Return the Mac Pros and join the dark side of
the force with Windows? Buy G5's off eBay? Sell Pro Tools HD and go
native? Continue to wait around wondering when or if Apple will fix
their broken program?
I wonder how many music professionals are staring at Mac Pros that
will run Logic natively, or run Pro Tools HD Accel, but won't run
them together... ?
If you are one of the victims of this mess - please reply and post
your experiences.
Thanks
Dave
