What are you using for storage? SCSI problems related to playback buffer size (switching) may be largely responsible for the problems that many are having with ProTools 6.2.3 under Mac OS X 10.3.x, among other things... > In other forums (specifically the DUC at Digdesign's web site) I've > noted that the Pro Tools version, 6.2.3 was reportedly "not > supported" for my configuration. Is this factual? Strictly, yes. > Also, when I attempt to use the audio mixer in Logic (not the Spirit > 328) to run the extensive soft synths that ship with Logic Pro, I > only am presented with the EXS 24 as an available option. Logic Pro ships with ESB TDM, which allows 8 audio streams to pass from the native (Direct TDM) audio engine to the TDM mixer. You'll need to create a completely independent mixer environment using DTDM objects, and then plumb this into the DAE side. On the other hand, you could search for a retail copy of the (now discontinued) Host TDM Enabler, which would allow you to insert the ES1/ES2/EVP88/EVB3/EVD6 instruments and Space Designer plug-in into the DAE mixer directly. This enabler would free up the 8 ESB streams to use with ReWire applications or third- party Audio Unit plug-ins. Remember, you'd still need to plumb a complete routing system on the DTDM side, into the TDM side of things. All of this is completely independent of what's happening on the digital mixer side of things, of course.
