Dear members, I'm new to this group and also Logic Platinum. I'm using Logic 5.5 on Windows. I composed couple of songs but don't know how to convert those MIDI tracks in to Audio (WAV of Mp3). And I'm unable to insert VSTi instruments and Inserts, I guess as I'm a beginner unable to find those options. When I opened Mixer it doesn't shows Bounce options and inserts. Also I'm confused about Environment Window. I will be thankful to you all if you could help me how to insert instruments, VSTi, plugins. _equalizers ------------------------------------

Subject: Sharing Jazz Font between Logic and Finale
Message #6905
I am using Jazz font with Logic 8 - a version that I bought when it first appeared. Last year I purchased Finale (2007) in order to publish a book. Upon installing Finale my Logic display was corrupted - Logic seems fussy in implementing the Jazz Font which I use exclusively. So I immediately deinstalled Finale. Finale support was understandably unable to help me since they are experts in Finale only. Does anyone know how to configure the fonts (i.e. where to put them - they appear in both system and user libraries on my machine) so that both Finale and Logic can use Jazz Font? Thank you Bruce _________________ Bruce Bruce@BruceCassidyMusic.com

Subject: SoundCloud - music pro service + invites
Message #6906
Hello Logic users! I'm currently working on a web-based service for music professionals (you!) called SoundCloud. Not sure if you heard about us since we have been running the site secretly over the last couple of months but it's already used by artists like Funk D'Void, Cari Lekebusch, & Sebo K. SoundCloud is an online audio platform that makes it much easier for music professionals to send and receive tracks. Instead of having to use things like YouSendIt, FTP or email we wanted to create something that makes it much easier to use the web for working with music in a smoother and faster way. There's quite a few features that make it a great tool for artists to send out private pre-mixes, for labels & studios to receive demos & in-progress tracks, and also for people involved with promoting tracks through their private promo lists. We also have some kick-ass widgets for your myspace, blog or facebook page, here is an example: http://forss.to/ A brief tour of our site can be found at: http://soundcloud.com/tour The site is invite only but i created some invites for you guys in the forum: http://soundcloud.com/guestlist/logic Would be great if you wanted to check out the site upload some of your own tracks! See you in the cloud //Henrik

It seem more focused on publishing and discussing mixed songs rather than providing a platform for collaborators to exchange separate tracks inside a multi track recording project? -- Greetings from Sweden Per Boysen www.boysen.se (Swedish) www.looproom.com (international) www.myspace.com/perboysen www.stockholm-athens.com ------------------------------------

>Nice site! It seem more focused on publishing and discussing mixed songs rather than providing a >platform for collaborators to exchange separate tracks inside a multi track recording project? Well, you are partly right. We don't support projects and we have no way of setting up a working group or anything like that. But SoundCloud is really ideal for sharing not only complete tracks but also samples and work in progress. People you trust can then comment on the piece and give feedback. So it can be used for collaborating and some producers already do actually. We are also thinking about collaborative aspects continuously and will try to enhance those features in the future. Hope that you still find the service useful. Cheers Henrik

(apology in advance as this is a repeat-- for some reason i didn't get this posting) -- can anyone recommend some stellar drum & percussion loop DVDs/MIDI files that would be well-suited for downtempo (ex. massive attack) and acoustic (ex. verve, slowdive) tracks? construction kits are ok-- but having individual hits are best (for building/supplementing loops or MIDI files). thanks in advance for any suggestions. best tv ------------------------------------

I guess your best bet would be to export as OMF and as a standard MIDI file. The OMF file will import nicely into Logic (hopefully at least), so will the MIDI file. One thing to keep an eye at is the OMF exporting options in Cubase. From what I remember there's something like "in/exclude fade files" or so in the export dialog box. These should better be avoided in the OMF export, as you may end up with lots of small weird sounding files that you'd have to delete manually inside Logic. Regards Sascha P.S.: Why did you post it to the L-OT list? IMO that's pretty much on topic. ------------------------------------

I know that, i've tried to talk to the video editor and producer, but they don't want to listen me, and I'm tired of arguing. I'm gone work with this lib in Protools and i don't want to convert every time i need a bunch of files. I'm want them to re-link it. Gone try the Audiomove. Thanks Sasha, regards, UnFraGile

Subject: Recording audio for Film?
Message #6924
Hello all, I've used Logic Pro extensively for the past few years, so I can say that I'm reasonably confident with most of its Audio/MIDI capabilities. One thing I've never used, though, is Logic's film scoring features. Beyond the basics (i.e. drag movie onto video track in Logic's arrange window and play around), I'd like to know whether there's any good resources to get me started with some of the advanced possibilities Logic & Film offer. Also, if Soundtrack Pro has any relevant uses in favour of Logic, some info on that would be great. Beyond that, it would be great if I had someplace to get me started with low- to mid-budget film audio know-how in general. I have experience recording in a studio environment, so, again, I know the essentials. Here are some of the questions I have: * My current set-up is two AKG C-1000-S condensers set up as an XY-stereo pair (on a boomstick) and hooked up to a field recorder. Sound seems decent, but if anyone has any tips for improvement, they're very much appreciated. * Is it usual to record film audio in stereo? Personally, I think mono doesn't give nearly enough of a satisfying sound, but I've only ever seen one boom mic being used on film sets. * What sort of ratio of on-site audio to post-production dubs and SFX should I be looking at? (Again, for low/mid-budget) * How should I synchronise audio and video after recording? Is using a clapperboard still standard procedure? * What's the best way to combine audio and video in post? Adding recorded audio takes to video in Logic Pro seems like too much hassle, especially when you're dealing with multiple takes. It might seem like I'm being lazy with all these questions, but none of my web searches brought me any resources that were truly helpful. I'm grateful for any help at all you could give me with my questions. Thanks, Fabian
