I'm on Logic 7. Logic 8 seems to be quite different in many ways to 7.
Just wondering if it justified a whole new manual. Unlikely I would
assume. An addendum seems much more likely, unless parts of the Logic 7
manual became obsolete or needed updating.

Hi Roman, you get about 5Kg of manuals, and they're all complete, no
addendums, certainly
better than the old emagic binder.... ;-)
Mike
I am on Logic 7. I got full new manuals with the Logic 7 upgrade. If I
upgrade from 7 to 8 do I get full new manuals again?

Yep!
Here's the link to the music staff pdf file that i am printing to have
manuscript paper:
http://www.dolmetsch.com/blankmanuscript12.pdf
I am currently drawing lines on this manuscript to evenly divide each
line into 4 bars. I don't have any graphics software just heaps of
music software.
If one of you is capable of adding some thin black vertical lines to
evenly divide each line into 4 bars it would save me drawing them
manually and I can just print it.
Thanks,
Roman.

It'd be easier do it in Logic.
Use a "No clef 5" clef, put a semibreve with an invisible head in
each
bar, hide the time signature, set the max number of bars in each line to
"4"... Ummm, I think that's it...
I am a new Logic user and I am creating drum tracks but wondering how to
turn up the humanizer function so the grooves don't sound so robotic.
hello
i am very new to mac world i used for years logic on atari and win
but have been thinking to move to mac in order to run the latest logic.
first of all .. is it worthed ?
Is it a huge improvement over 5.5 ?
is there any soundiver editing capability
for synths in the new logic ?
and also what is a usable HW platform to run the latest logic on ?
2g ram or 4 gb ? mac mini ? imac ? mac pro ?
i dont use many vst but i would hate to spend 2000 euros or more
and have a non working/slow system
tnx in advace for the tips
Andrea
No Sounddiver application is available anymore they stopped that once Apple
took over the software.
You will have to use 6.5, sound diver is still available on the web and you
can use it but it has no integration with Logic any more from what I
understand. I used it to manage my patches as well.

Yes, I would suggest going to someones studio who has it so you can see.
Also if you are in the NY area you can visit a apple pro dealer and have
them demo Logic Studio Like B&H or even a studio with a pro consultant.
Apple Store also has tests they can run to show you performance and the
integration between the apple computer and apple logic studio.
Becareful with apple store people cause they are very similar to guitar
center employees most of them seem to know very little in regards to
practical applications and usage of the solutions they sell. They know what
the reps and managers tell them to say. Apple is even worse because they
seem not to employ logic professionals in the stores more pros and reps
geared toward iphoto and consumer applications.
NO offense to apple employee's but I have never once had anyone at an apple
store be of assistance in regards to Logic.

Does anyone know how to loop a file and avoid a clip when it loops back to
the beginning?
I need to make a 30sec of music that will loop for a website.
Thanks

Yes, I've done that a lot. Simply make at least three copies of the loop
on a track in Logic (or any other DAW). Then smooth the transitions by
audio crossfade and finally cut out the a full loop in the middle (loop nr
2 if using 3 in total). Then this loop should loop with no glitches.
Export it to you preferred multi media format.

The Apogee Ensemble has 8 in and 8 out digital conversion. Are the
extra 4 mic pre's actually an extra 4 A/D's. This would make the
Ensemble 12 in, 8 out. It seems a little misleading the way the
advertising states it's features. Especially seeing how much money
Apogee converters cost.
Thanks,
Roman.

Nothing misleading when I read it. The quality is way above most other
equipment in that class.
Brian
But you haven't answered my question. Are the extra four pre's A/D
converters making the total A/D inputs 12 not just 8?

Yes, there are 4 pre inputs with phantom power. From the site:
Ensemble features 36 channels of simultaneous audio, including 8
channels of Apogee’s legendary A/D and D/A conversion, 4 transparent,
digitally controlled 75db mic preamps, 8 channels of ADAT I/O, 2
channels of S/PDIF coax and optical I/O, and FireWire connectivity to
and from the computer
The preamps feed the A/D side or you can go direct through the rear
channel inputs.

Still slightly ambiguous. So you are saying that the 4 mic pre's are
not an additional 4 A/D converters?

It has 8 A/D converters. The other channels are digital (ADAT, etc)
and so they don't need converters.
Brian
Are the extra 4 mic pre's A/D converters also?
Yes or No?
I have a Korg TR-Rack. It's my only ROMpler sound module. It has four
banks of 128 sounds. The instruments are not categorised. I find this
annoying because if I want a certain type of sound, say a bass sound, I
would like to audition all the basses by changing the program number
and going through the basses category.
Basically I want a module that has all the instruments categorised next
to each other in multi mode, which is the mode I use because I sequence
with MIDI.
Also, is it possible to save the Motif's set up for a song eg the
instruments used and effects parameters edited for a particular song
within the Motif or to a flash drive (I notice the Motif has a USB
port)?
If I used my MPC60II for sequencing instead of my Logic/Mac set up I
could save the MOTIF set up without having to do a sysex dump from my
computer.
To set up my TR-Rack I had to sysex dump from Logic to get the internal
effects parameters set up for each song.

Don't believe so. They are one of 8 inputs on the back panel.

No. The information clearly states 8 independent A/D converters.

How can you input a signal from ***any*** analog device without a
converter?

If you look at the back of the unit on the we site (or in person)
you'll see that the back of it has 8 inputs, 4 of which can be 1/4 or
xlr. All 8 go to A/D converters. The ones with the xlr inputs are the
preamp inputs. Not to be rude but this is pretty darn clear on the
site and I'm sure everyone is a bit bored with the discussion of non-
logic issues. Please feel free to contact me off-line if I can help.

I meant the same by asking this retorical question addressing it to
the original poster...

That was a hidden maning of my post... Pretty rude on my part...
Sorry...
