Subject: Sleep Mode disrupts USB MIDI devices
Message #6751
When I wake my iMac from sleep mode, I cannot use certain USB MIDI devices any more (Korg microKontrol + Evolution MK-249C keyboard). They are greyed out in the Audio Midi Configuration. Is this an Mac OS 10.4 bug or related to the Korg and Evolution drivers?

Subject: [L-OT] Is there a Mac that is really quiet?
Message #6755
I use an Isobox which is a box that my G5 lives in and isolates the noise a bit. But it does take up extra room. I remember there being talk a few years ago about a water cooled Mac. One of the high end Macs was rumoured to have water flowing through it to cool it down. Does this mean that there are no fans just water. Does this means it is quiet. If there is a way to cool a computer quietly I am sure it would be very popular with audio/musician types. Roman.

Subject: Digital musician needed for computer game
Message #6756
Hi there, I and two other game enthusiasts are working on an online multiplayer computer game slated to be released next year. The game is called Link-Dead and is being programmed by the same guy who made the game "Soldat" if you've ever heard of it. I am making all of the graphics in the game and we also have a concept artist. We are looking for a musician to work with us on the game. You must understand that we can't offer you any money for this; all of us are working on this game purely because we are passionate about what we do, be it programming, game design or art work. If you are a person passionate about writing music and would possibly like to get your name out, then I think you will enjoy working with us. We are looking for a sort of metal / industrial / dark ambient mix of music with this game. If you think you can make that sort of music, then we would be very pleased to work with you. This isn't a position that is open to a single person. Anyone who wants to contribute is welcome to submit a single song or whatever. All of us work on this game every day and it is coming along at a great pace. Here are some of the assets from the game: http://www.sigvatr.com/photos/2007_10_29_a.jpg http://www.sigvatr.com/photos/2007_10_28_a.jpg http://www.sigvatr.com/photos/2007_10_28_b.jpg http://www.sigvatr.com/photos/2007_10_28_c.jpg http://www.sigvatr.com/photos/2007_10_28_d.jpg You can read up on information about the game on these websites: http://mm.soldat.pl (for information on the game technology) http://www.sigvatr.com (for graphics) If you are interested in working with us, then send me an email at this address along with a sample or two of your work: me ( at ) sigvatr [ dot ] com Thanks guys :)

Subject: [L-OT] eCommerce Site
Message #6757
I want to create a web site for my own music that would work like iTunes. I need it so people can listen to a portion of a song and buy the song or album if they want using credit cards or Pay Pal etc. I know there are places like StoresOnline.com but I'd like to look at other options like getting the software and doing it myself. I'm thinking of contacting the credit card companies for info but I thought I'd fly this past anyone who's already bought the t-shirt. Thanks, Peter Charlers Naugler

Subject: Unknown Problem with Digitech TSR-24
Message #6762
Hey, I've got a problem that I can't seem to remedy. Does anybody have any idea what it is and how to remedy it? I just replaced the 3v Lithium battery and closed the unit back up. I tried the hard reset, but instead of an asterisk in the top left corner, I get only an exclamation point. When I press program up anyway, a small skull-like symbol and a capital "D" appear breifly then the unit gives me lines like "1 Unknwn Cmd 21 cnt=164 pi=24eb" or "p=3 fi=0 pi=40:24fm" "pip=d29f" or "Too many zreg changes" or "Too many dram offset lines" or "Too many dram variables" when I press any button. If I leave the unit alone for a while, the advertising marquee scrolls across the screen. If I try to turn that off in the utilities menu, the same error messages occur. What do I need to do? Thanks.

I was recommended Plimus by a software developer. Very easy to use and trusted. By the way, my site was created using Freeway and Comic life: http://www.softpress.com http://plasq.com/ It is a great way to create a site with next to no knowledge of HTML or graphic design etc... Regards Hugo

Subject: [GEN] LE7 crashes immediately after loading session
Message #6764
This morning I was mixing in a session and the sound would all of the sudden cut out. I would hear a digital 'pop' in the headphones, the cursor kept moving; no sound. A friend recommended I reinstall LE7, which I did, and run Tech Tool Deluxe, which I did. Problem solved. Couple hours later, I reboot my computer, and now I can't open ANY project files. It will stay open long enough to choose a project file, but halfway through loading, Logic just quits. No error message, crash message, nothing. As an experiment, I opened the "Demo Song.Iso" that comes with Logic. This worked fine, but I don't really know what that means. I've only been on Logic a few months--very little experience and understanding of related jargon--but I'm a quick study. Any suggestions? Thanks, Alex

I experience this quite often i both Pro7 and Pro8. It usually is one of the plug-ins crashing even though they validate fine. I just keep on trying to load the file until it works. Sometimes 2 times, sometimes 12. It always opens in the end... For me it's either the Tritone plugs, EWQLSO or Spectrasonics Trilogy that is the sinner most of the time, but it can happen to most... @nders

If you intend to run Logic 7, you will need to look out for a genuine licence for sale. Otherwise, it is worth considering Logic Studio with Logic Pro 8, which no longer requires an XSKey and is the current version of Logic. Logic 7 is no longer offered by Apple. kind regards Mark Cahill

you could check out 123music store software that easyb.com is selling. you may have to google those names to be exact. I havn't launched my own store/site yet using their software but I did find them to be the only software available for the artists to do it themselves. I didn't use it because I don't know html and am still looking into other options like a blog site like expressionengine. hope this helps - kier

I have just implemented it for our label. Very simple and doesn't require HTML knowledge. It has a user interface to load songs. You will however need to install it to a web server. This is one of the few solutions that will not take a percentage of the sales.
