I clicked on the 'get info' of the folders and then set the folder to 'read and write' but I still can't move the files. What do I have to change so OSX will let me move these files? Roman.

I guess the set file owner prevents you from moving the folders/ files. I use a utility called "Chop" where I drop such folders and change them all at once. Look at similar files, set the Chop preferences to the same settings and drag the folder over Chop. That usually fixes the problem. It's like executing the appropriate command from the terminal. ___ Peter Ostry

Subject: Trying to record from External drive: "Error synchronizing audio and midi - - "
Message #6683
I've been recording from my hard drive (Mac G5 - OSX) with no problem but in an attempt to save space I am wanting to record from my back-up Lacie drive - - however, after setting the correct path for the core audio - and beginning recording, I am getting the above message (along with "sample rate 33226 recognized"). There is noise/cracks and it can't handle it and the window message pops up. I am attempting to record a midi track along with an audio (vocal) and it's long - - multiple songs so I'm trying to save space on the Mac. I have my firewire hooked into my Mac, my midisport hooked into my Mac (and wired through the firewire/Presonus), my Lacie hooked into my Mac. I also have the midi in/out from my firewire into my Mackie mixer (so I can listen live and play live if I want). Any suggestions? Thanks, drleer

When I turned on my XP-60 tonight, I could barely read the print on the display. (I tried restarting several times, hoping it would go away. It didn't) Did I inadvertently mess up the contrast somehow? How do I adjust it back? Or am I dealing with a bigger problem?

Petros, WAVEARTS recently announced a new resoration package. http://www.wavearts.com/MR.html One of my co-workers is currently testing it and seems to really like it. We are more than likely going to buy multiple copies for our team. I will probably be buying it for my personal use as well. Here are some of my notes from awhile back (prior to the WAVEARTS announcement) when I was considering alternatives to the Waves stuff... Bias Soundsoap Pro 1 (Any VST,RTAS, AU host) http://www.macworld.com/2004/10/reviews/soundsoalprorvw/index.php BIAS Soundsoap 2 (Any VST,RTAS, AU host) This is an affordable and easy to use version of Soundsoap1 with some new features, although it looks like it won’t let you save Noise Profiles, which is handy when cleaning up old movie drops, since most of the time we don’t have the hiss and noise isolated for the “learn” function. Hi Ben, Did you find a cure to the score problem you had last year? I have just come across it now. This only happens with older files saved on 7.1 With the 7.3 upgrade, THAT happens and print/page set up in "file" do not respond. Regards Steve

It burns your music in the order you want it and will let you edit each song to get rid of silence. Burn all the major types of audio files, including MP3, OGG, WMA and WAV.It is Acoustica MP3 CD Burner. Instead of just blindly burning incomplete songs that end in the middle, it fades them out. It actually fixes your songs and makes them sound good. It takes low volume songs and adjusts them with special "Boost" and normalization. In addition, you can EQ each song differently and have it burned that way. Power and flexibility. That's what makes this burner different than all the rest. http://www.qweas.com/download/audio_mp3/audio_cd_burners/acoustica_mp3_cd_bu rner.htm It can cut out unwanted silence, extra long applauses or DJ commentary. It fits more audio on a CD and make it sound right. You need just one cilck to import all your CD to your computer. It can rip CD tracks to MP3, OGG, WAV or WMA files.

Subject: Sound Programming Engineer - Apple Logic 7 (Brooklyn NY (Prospect Heights Area))
Message #6694
Need the following: * Someone who has had previous experience working with recording originals using analog instruments and live vocals into Logic 7. * At the start, it would be three originals, followed by later with a full album of 24 originals (songs are finished, pre-mixed in Logic, but unrecorded). * Compensation is engineering credit on all recording and future royalties for that work plus travel to/from studio and some meals. Music is mostly Synth-pop Trance-inspired originals. Live drums will be recorded separately in Europe. Re-mixes will be recorded thereafter. Video in Final Cut Pro will shot for three tracks Engineering begins now, through the summer. Touring in Fall 2007 with Abelton Live so Logic Programmer not required but preferred. Business and legal side is accounted for, we just need a strong Logic Programming Engineer. Contact [boba_fett_0[at]yahoo[dot]com with your myspace or bandspace samples or link. Thank you.

Message #6695
Greetings, I'm having very little success using the Sigler Jazz and Swing fonts in Logic. Recently I've been trying to use the jazz and swing multi-stroke key caps for macintosh. Seldom do I get the proper result, (1%) The Sigler web site says the fonts are usable in Logic. I've followed all the install instructions putting the fonts into my system folder. I must be missing something. (updated font download or install instructions ??) I'm now using Logic Pro 7.2 on a G4 dual 1 gig. Any suggestions? Kind Regards, Jim

Message #6697
i really need to get rid of my anger. i had problems with a logic pro7 dongle, it seems due to a hub. they treated me as kind of moran because i never had heard that you may not put the dongle on a hub. furthermore they not only wouldn't give me garanty but they wanted me to send them by creditcard the amount the program costs until they would receive my key. sending my key first wasn't possible either. so i went to the shop i bought my key and made them solve this problem. this was about two months ago. no answer...waiting and using GARAGE BAND which by the way is a hell of a lot more userfriendly than logic. i also had a yellowtool dongle that got damaged and had to be replaced. i called yellowtool, they were very kind and told me to mail the dongle, they would replace it immedeately at no cost...original quote: WE ARE INTERESTED THAT YOU CAN WORK WITH OUR SOFTWARE. this says it all, doesn't it. unfortunately i cannot work with yellotools, since logic doesn't care about his customers. one day i like to have an enterprise that works that well that you don't give a f*** about your customers. since i do work with a lot of musicians, producers and schools i can say that apple has lost more money buy loosing potential buyers than if they had replaced that dam dongle fast and free of cost. so now i feel better :)
