Tommy, everything you need is on your key. Unlike the rather stupid Steinberg installer, Logic won't ask you for any additional serial numbers. Just recently I updated my old Platinum key and didn't need anything else but the key. - Sascha

Subject: Presonus Firepod/iBook G4/MacOSX 10.3.9
Message #6630
Though this is more an Interface Problem, I guess it´s OT. I´m not pretty sure how to handle it. I use the Firepod with a Powersupply. It´s (mainly) fine when recording from Line6 Pod or Neumann TLM103 (directly using FPs Phantompower & Preamps). With a dynamic Mic (Shure SM58) the Signal is more like whispering with the Preamp turned up to 10 and further ;). Plus some days ago I had to stop a Session, cause while recording with the Neumann the Signal went lower and lower til it was down to Zero in the Takes. Rebooting of Logic or Mac OS didn´t help. The Interface was warm but compared to the iBook in the Limits, for my feel. Though I found no way to Eject it like a i.e. FW Harddrive I always run down the iBook first before turning it off. Does anybody have experiences with it and can tell me that the Firepod is guilty ? If so, I bought it for around 800.- € now it´s down to 500.- (arrgh). Is there anything similar (incl. Phantom Power, PreAmps, 8 Ins) around that is better ? Then I may take a different one when bringing it back to the store. Thanx in advance Matzy

Message #6631
Did someone experience problems with the Samson C-Control? Suddenly my speaker volume control, dim and mute does not work, I get always the max volume. Level meters don't work either. Source selector and headphone section are ok. It was working well for about 2 years. Samson support did not respond yet. ___ Peter Ostry

Subject: [OT] Is RME going down? Rumors...
Message #6632
Hello list, here in Moscow there are rumors (from the dealers) that RME is about to get bankrupt. Very strange to me as this company is making top notch interfaces and should be very succesful. Has anybody heard information like that? Would be a pity but if someone (like me) is considering a new interface (FF 800 I thought), he should think it over when the company is about to dig down. maxim

The UVI engine usually being used by sample-based plugins, I'd suspect that the plugin in question simply can't find it's content. Most often it will allow you (in some options menu) to reassign the content, should you've been moving it. - Sascha

Subject: [L-OT] MidiPipe: how to work on a range of CC's?
Message #6635
Does anyone know how I can process a range of CC's in MidiPipe? I want to process all CC's betwen 27 and 43. But I cannot find a tool which does that. They all need a single CC number. The CC's come from a keyboard and for any incoming event within that range I want to generate a 0, than wait 50 ms and generate a 127. I could convert the CC's to notes but that involves 17 message converters. Which magic MidiPipe tool can I take to do that in less steps? __ Peter Ostry

Apols for posting here, I couldn't find any anywhere more appropriate. I've subscribed to the FF group buy and now the best discount has been reached would like to buy the plugs asap, I've been using the Timeless demo and it's just expired, rendering a couple of tracks currently unuseable. The group buy page states, "A link to a secure ordering form will be emailed to you once we reach the best discount, or when signups are over", the best discount has been reached and I'm hoping any communication hasn't been accidentally trashed. Any way to check? Thanks for any input nik

Subject: [L-OT] Mixer for Broadcast/Podcasts
Message #6637
We're in the process of setting up a small studio for our students to create podcasts. I'm looking at a suitable mixer for a PC-based setup (using Adobe Audition). The students will be using a mixture of digital recorders and in-studio recording to create the podcasts. A broadcast professional has recommended a Soundcraft RM1D for the job, but it seems to me that as much of the recording will be in the digital domain already that something like a Yamaha 01X might be more suitable as it has a firewire connection and can be used as a control surface as well. I'd be very grateful for any advice in this area. cheers, Rog

New Zealand. I read their shipping policy and they are very restricted to US, Puerto Rico etc. But I haven't asked them specifically about New Zealand. www.music123.com have a shipping policy that says they ship internationally. switch banks on my MIDI modules and change program numbers easily. I want a minimal keyboard not all the bells and whistles. At least 49 keys and octave up and down to extend the keyboard range. A ribbon controller that can be set to transmit a selectable MIDI controller as well. My Roland PC200Mk2 had all this except the bank/program buttons. Maybe Roland have another model with this feature. Roman.

I use the KORG microcontrol with satisfaction. Check it out. The only drawaback is that the keys are smaller than standard keys. Not a problem with me because Snths are not my specialty but I do use it for programming. Roman Pirie <romanp@xtra.co.nz> wrote: switch banks on my MIDI modules and change program numbers easily. Subject: [L-OT] Ensoniq Keyboards
Message #6649
My son wants a keyboard with a decent piano. He is 17 and a pretty good player. He is a guitar player but he wants to expand his business and at the moment he uses a Roland U20 but he's restricted to 61 keys and a very light keyboard which I think is great for some things but not for piano. I have found that Ensoniq keyboards are sold second hand for a lot less than the competition and I think that's mainly because they never really did as well commercially as critically. What I would like to ask is how good/bad are KT76 and KS32 and how old are they. I checked Harmonycentral and they love them but compared to what.

Subject: [L-OT] Roland V-Drums & EXS24
Message #6650
Hi, I am using Logic Pro 7 and have recently purchased a Roland V-Drum Kit. I have been playing around with the EXS24 trying to set up drum kits to be triggered from the kit. I find that single samples don't quite do the trick in some intances because the triggering doesn't sound that 'realistic'. The Factory kits that come with Logic work quite well. Does anyone know of any good multi-sampled kit librarys or have any tips on setting up drum kit programmes with the EXS24? Thanks, Subdiffusion - www.subdiffusion.com
