Same thing here. Is there a master list? Brian I sent in my email saying I wanted to participate, but I never received a response. Anyone else had this problem. Paul

I bet Cookie Monster has already had his people call their people. It's like that spoof press release where Metallica had supposedly copyrighted the chord progression from E to F and were in the process of suing everyone who used E or F chords for royalties. Corporate America is a bunch of scumbags for the most part. flex

One of the reasons I choose Sweetwater over Musicians Friend and Zzounds for music stuff is their support and support policies. The big three for computer stuff (MacZones, MacMall and ClubMac). And Amazon to me sets the benchmark for what online shopping should be... But beyond those there are of course tons of lesser-capable online vendors whose procedures and policies are sometimes very questionable, or if nothing else just plain difficult to deal with! I know I'm stating the obvious, but it's substantially cheaper to DIY cables than to buy them pre-made. Certainly, if you only need a few cables in a small rig then it's not worth the effort but you'll pay full retail for a pre-made cable at a music shop versus wholesale pricing for the parts at an electronic supply store. I'll still buy pre-made cables for applications like microphone and guitar leads but all my interconnects are lovingly hand-assembled. The other thing about being able to roll your own is that you'll never be stuck without the right cable thirty minutes after the shops have closed during an important session. Sheesh, pre-made cables! What are youse guys? A bunch of musicians or sumting? :) Steve

I rarely buy from the retailer (online or otherwise) with the absolute lowest price, because for in order to give me that lowest price something is being sacrificed somewhere else. Service to me, service to their own employees, etc. Sweetwater provides better service than anyone I've ever dealt with, and that is worth spending a bit more for IMO. That having been said I have purchased from Zzounds in the past and have no complaints, but they're not in the same league with Sweetwater (or Mercenary, for that matter) in terms of service and tech support. Subject: OS X freezing me out....
Message #6141
Hi, Suddenly my screen saver stopped working on the powerbook. All those nice pictures inside my Pictures folder never loaded. And I can't get at the Pictures folder either. My powerbook now tells me that my "foler Pictures could not be opened" because I "do not have sufficient access privileges". So in fact I can't even select the folder and "Get Info" on it to set the access privileges right. Not that I need that folder for my work but who knows, next time it might be my "work in progress" folder! What to do? / per

I only have one account on that machine, so I'm quite sure I'm logged in to the right account. The folder inside my User folder is ok, the probolem is with the other one that shows up in the left margin if I just open up "Mac HD" in the finder (together with the other shortcuts called "Desctop", "Applications", "Documents", "Movies" and "Music"). Perhaps that pix folder is an alias or so, but I have always thought of it as being a different one as the pix folder inside the User folder. Anyway, how can a folder I'm never using just change the permissions so that I, the Administrator, is left out? Really strange, because I never use that folder except for keeping some screensaver pictures. No, it should be the same one. The sidebar is just a group of aliases, and the default setup points to the folders inside your User folder. You should be able to drag your "real" Pictures folder into the sidebar if you want it there, but removing the now-misbehavin' one might be a bit more tricky as you're likely to have to do it in the Terminal (since you no longer have permissions over it for whatever reason). I wish I could provide more details on how to do this, but I'm not sure how the sidebar is stored in regarded to the BSD filesystem. Perhaps a search and/or post at Apple's discussion forums might find the answer. Good luck! So, it really IS an alias (shortcut) that has now become evil and turned against its master ;-) Cool, kind of funny that such a bizarre situation can happen in OS X. However, the system is working perfectly in all other areas so I don't think I'll waste my working hours into troubleshooting it more. For now I leave it until the big clean-out that will come with upgrading to Tiger in a near future.
